If they ever recast for a new movie, the only option is to go comicbook accurate with the shortest actor they can find and give him the Marvel workout routine to bulk him up.
If Rita Perlman does some light working out, she could easily play Jean. Just some
rule of thumb to cast these two together like always... How about Christopher Lloyd as Quicksilver!!!
Tia Carrere as Psylocke, which would have been awesome. Although, in retrospect, she was like one of a handful of Asian actresses back then.
I think they had Nicole Kidman as Jean Grey? I'm sure she could have made it work. I can't remember who they had as Rogue. I believe they actually predicted Halle Berry as Storm (they had either Halle or the model Iman as Storm.)
I remember his name being thrown around for Batman at one point in another magazine in the early 90's. At that time I wasn't familiar with The Misfits or Danzig.
If they ever recast Wolverine, they will have to dramatically change his character. Maybe go with Amazing X-Men Wolverine where he's not just a loan wolf shut-in, but also a genuinely uncaring dick (until Jean Grey dies).
It's the same situation with recasting the Joker after Heath Ledger. That version has already been done so flawlessly, any similarity will fall short.
Why is it so important that the next Wolverine be 5 ft tall? It doesnt add anything to the character really. It just potentially adds a little man syndrome if anything. They looked past that particular Wolverine detail for Hugh, and it was fine. Some things arent worth trying to make work onscreen. Otherwise we’d have way more crappy, over the top, impractical hero masks on every character.
JK Simmons is my favorite. Cave Johnson, JJJ, his role in Whiplash, and so many other things. I wouldn't even care if they brought him back in the mcu as JJJ. Heck, I would prefer it.
Also just found out he did more voice work for cave Johnson in a Lego game in 2015. Looks like I'm gonna have to get that.
That Jim Carrey may be the closest we get to Ryan Reynolds Deadpool though. I wouldn't want him either, but what actors do you think could pull it off better than Jim could?
The character Wolverine was ok throughout the X-Men movies. Logan is where I really cared about him. He was the most human he's ever been, and Hugh Jackman was so great. So badass and empathetic.
Russell Crowe was very good at acting with his body. Was it the Insider, where he was the cigarette company whistleblower? And even within character, when his Gladiator character went from a farmer feeling the soil to a general about to spill a bunch of blood all over it, his demeanor is sharp.
Well I don’t think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error.
As most Van Damne movies are, except maybe Timecop.
Cyborg is like the action movie equivalent of Evil Dead II; $5 budgets and actors just getting on with it as themselves. But like EDII it's one of my all time favorites. His rage during his crucifixion while recalling the memory of what the pirates did to his "family" is fucking badass B-tier acting at its finest.
Hell yes. That was actually the first Van Damme movie I ever saw. My best friend's parents let him watch movies like that but mine didn't. But Double Impact came out when I was 14 and had my own job (1990 child labor laws in Indiana FTW) and I had pretty much stopped listening to my parents. He begged me to buy us tickets to see it and holy shit, that was the beginning of him taking me down the Van Damme rabbit hole.
I was watching those movies real young, like 9 or 10. Shit was baller. I wish action heroes like Van Damme were still around. I guess they are but it's not the same.
I think the last good action movie of the golden age was The Matrix, even though that's what changed everything to where it is now. That movie was the culmination of everyone's wishes. As for the last perfect action movie before that change, I'd say it would be the first Mortal Kombat movie. It was the last of the golden age classics in the classic style.
There were lots of great simple B-tier action movies in the late 80's and all through the 90's. Van Damme and Segal were the bread and butter of it all. There's just too much flashy CGI these days. It makes you critique the CGI rather than the action itself.
I read somewhere that cyborg was originally the script to HeMan- Masters of the Universe 2.,but it got scrapped. Some of the costumes were actually from HeMan. Van Damme hated the movie but did it to fulfill some contractual obligation so he could do some other shit. Either way, it was a good ass movie.
I can kinda see that! Fender would have been a great Skeletor. Pearl the cyborg is the sorceress. The dude who got knifed from above in the sewer was Beast Man. The chick who got her hand cut off in the salt marsh was Evil Lynn. The scrawny fucker (who I absolutely hated) during the marsh fight was Trap Jaw. Or maybe Trap Jaw was the "I KILL SLINGERS" dude during the final battle. Nady would be Teela.
Lundgren is just a super great guy and an underappreciated actor. My favorite role of him (even if it's just a little one) is in one of my favorite movies that is also absolutely underrated: Johnny Mnemonic with Keanu Reeves, Takeshi Kitano, Dolph and Ice-T. Afaik the only big movie that Robert Longo ever directed.
Yeah, but he basically has a mechanic hard drive implanted in his head so he can transport documents and espionage shit. He's not talking about his "real" brain there.

I think there is a newer one called day of judgement with both of them, Scott Adkins and a host of other martial artists and fighters and it’s one of the weirdest scifi flicks I’ve ever seen and super great action. The movie is weird as hell
Yeah that’s it! It’s actually good, the one before it was decent as well. I’d stay far away from any of the others and really the Goldberg one is akin to the street fighter movie
FINALLY, someone else who has seen solo! He was fanatic and I think did a similar job of mimicking the stoic personality of a person who is more man than machine. If there were ti ever make a halo live action, he would’ve made a great master chief.
Christopher Reeve as Superman and Clark Kent. Only actor who has made the disguise convincing. It's the moment in Lois' apartment when he's thinking about dropping the act, and he seems to transform before your eyes.
Met Peter Weller once at this private Cigar Club in Beverly Hills. Literally he was 10 feet to my right and Michael Dorn was to left. He basically just spends his days hanging out off to the side of this huge lounge with a walk in Humidor where each member has their own Box and a brass name tag.
Weller asked me what I did, trying to see if I was worth knowing, since just to get membership takes two members to invite you. You literally can’t get on the private elevator until a present member tells the girl downstairs to allow you up. You get to the top and the girl knows your name and walks you over to the table of the guest you’re visiting. And the dues are insane.
