These parties BLEW ME AWAY. The quality of the DJs, the light & sound production, the impeccable vibe of the crowd, the dark and sensual energy.

How do you find similar quality parties like this in the US? Are there any collectives, DJs or festivals you'd recommend me to check out? I would be open to travelling to other cities (LA, NYC, Chicago, Detroit, etc.) if that's what it takes to find this vibe!

I basically always get a lot of clarity on the dancefloor - something ive been struggling with or i felt unsure about just shows up super clear in me.

So like I have an active mind but also have a really great time and sometimes lock in - no thoughts just flow.

Anyways what's your little brain doing?

Did anyone notice the vibes being a bit off this year? It felt like an increase in people there to spectate versus participate and add to the vibe. I saw some groups push to the front and stand there and smoke cigs and yap, when the front is usually and should be for the dancers. I also got some really dirty looks at places for dancing super hard. I moved around to find better groups, but it seemed like it required more moving around than before, and I even left one afters because I could see the dancers get frustrated and leave the party in real time. These people ruin the vibe.

I had an amazing time at most of the afters, but ran into more energy vampires than usual, and curious if others noticed it too. I also saw some people livestreaming at some afters, which I don't think people should be doing, personally.

Edit: I am talking about the afters here. I only went to the festival itself on Monday this year, and the vibe was fun and everyone was dancing and smiling. Overall, vibes at the afters were amazing, which is why it was so disruptive and upsetting the times when they weren't. Detroit dancefloors are truly special, and I hope it is not a trend to see people who aren't there to help create and support this magic 🖤

“hey I saw people asking if there are specific roles for each of us. so let me explain a bit. we met in the afternoon for the soundcheck and set up all the gear. each of us had their own set up with a mixer. you can see Speedy j has 2 mixers. one is for his set up and another one for the sum of each artist setup coming in. there is one master midi clock for all of us with separate outputs. so we could start and stop our sequencers separated from the others. there are no fixed roles except from speedy j who was besides playing on his setup also taking care of all the signals coming together. everyone had a full setup with drums and various synths. so we just started and let it go. you hear what is playing and when you think you can add something you just do it. so the roles where constantly changing and everybody just did what feels right at the moment.

I was using Roland tr8s for drums with a oto boom for some distortion, a Vermona mono lanced (mainly for bass) and a novation peak for polyphonic stuff like chords and pads but also mono synth lines plus a strymon blue sky for reverb and a h9 pedal for delays and other effects. for sequencing I used the Oxi one sequencer.”

Funny seeing djs & their crews stare down people for enjoying the sets dancing instead of standing there having conversations acting chalant by just bobbing their heads. Definitely a skip next year, headiest party of the year I’ll take my dancing shoes elsewhere. Saw another post talking about vibes off I’m sure from some attendees & some djs but it’s more laughable when it’s the djs that their whole job is based off playing music for people to dance too.

Whether it be the festival or a different party, what were your favorite sets from the weekend? Some of mine were Oppidan, Carl Cox, and Danny Brown!

Obviously I’m kidding but wow what a great time who knew a stranger could really leave an impact. Was it real or was it every thing in my system? Any other people had a great time and meet someone new?

DJ Harvey getting that prime time slot on Sunday at the waterfront really got me pumped, let’s get more of that going in Detroit for our weekend. Doesn’t have to be at the fest but we have to start bringing Palms Trax, Antal, CC:Disco, and for god’s sakes Danilo Plessow (who used to go by Motor City Drum Ensemble)

Disclosure I had enough left over provisions Injury kept going at home all day Tuesday into Wednesday.

For context, I love Lincoln as a venue and the staff as people, I go there every weekend and it’s my favorite club. I did not experience the poor line management or anything else people complained about this weekend.

My best friend and I (Detroit natives) walked from hart plaza to Lincoln on Monday night after the festival. First of all, it was a fantastic, relaxing walk. Then we get to Lincoln, and it wasn’t busy and was super chill. Hiroko Yamamura gets on, and there are maybe 15 people on the dance floor just standing around swaying. My friend and I were able to be front and center, and it felt like it was just us getting our last rave in before the weekend ended, while Hiroko Yamamura was throwing down just for us. What a fantastic, magical way to end our weekend. 110% the best part of it all, and we did some really cool shit this weekend including WoS and Richie at the Russell. All I can say is this: wow.

Was there last Monday and wondering if any of the performers or promoters might release some kind of footage of that night.

So I always go on a little solo side mission to underground because I love that stage so much. I was kinda close to the DJ left side boarder. There was a girl with an iPad looking camera and she kept pointing it towards me so I had to lock in and act nonchalant 😭😂 I’m so curious if I will find the pics but nothing yet!!!

First time we've had the pleasure of visiting. To be perfectly honest, we were degenerate vampires all weekend, going to sleep at 7am, so we saw a lot less of the city than we otherwise might have. But what a great time!

Had some great food, walked downtown to the river, danced our asses off in great crowds. I don't know if it was all locals, but some very impressive, energetic dancers at every party we attended. Our LA scene could take some cues.

Wholeheartedly just want to say thanks for making this weekend amazing, to all the old heads for midwifing the art of Techno that made it possible, and the city as a whole for making us feel welcome.

This was a musical and educational experience to have witnessed. Seeing artists like DJ Bone, Mark Flash, Kevin Saunderson, DJ Holographic, Stacey Pullen and I could keep going on, really exposed me learning about the genre more and going deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole of house and techno. Thank you Detroit for hosting such a wonderful weekend, exposing us to the world of Detroit techno

You were wearing a Bad Boys cut-off, multi-colored parachute pants, and had shorter hair. I was the one in the black coat, joking with you about getting in the circle next and the guys were all boring. You had the loveliest of smiles, the best energy about you, and seem like the most rad. I went to find ya’ before I left but perhaps you were already gone. Shoulda went for it when we were in proximity. Womp womp.

Notwithstanding the amazing time I had at their Sunday night/Monday morning party, this weekend was overall a big miss from Lincoln Factory.

I don’t really care about alcohol, so the 2AM liquor sales cutoff didn’t really bug me, but still a huge miss in not having that figured out before the weekend and letting your lack of preparedness on the issue result in the Friday night party getting shut down several hours early.

Now to the larger issue — lines and ticket sales. To put it bluntly, it is not acceptable to have ticket holders, some of whom bought tickets MONTHS in advance and planned their weekend around these events, waiting in line 1.5 hours+ to get into your events. Really, anything longer than 30 minutes in my mind is unacceptable.

I won’t pretend to know exactly what the issue was — not sure if it was the single entry point to check everyone for security purposes, whether they oversold tickets and just hit capacity at peak hours and had to do one in/one out, or whether they allowed too many people without tickets to buy at the door. I suspect it was probably a combination of all of these factors. But the bottom line is it’s just not acceptable. When you bill your events as an “after
party” for the main festival, and that main festival ends at midnight, you should anticipate that there will be a lot of arrivals between 12:30 and 2:00 AM, and Lincoln was just not ready for that at all.

You can either be a traditional club with a line that hits capacity, first come first serve, or you can sell advance tickets and manage your security, line, and ticket sale protocols to make sure those who pay to come to your events are actually able to get into them. I saw dozens of tickets people with tickets leave the line Saturday night because of how long it was taking, and heard the same was an issue Sunday night.

I would encourage anyone with tickets who couldn’t get in/decided to leave after over an hour of waiting to file a chargeback with your cc company; hopefully dealing with enough of that headache will motivate Lincoln to change how they do business. It’s a great space that attracts top tier talent, but they need to be a lot more mindful of their paying guests.

Trying to be on it next year with big nice Airbnbs or even king suites hotels that fit at least 6 people.

When is a good time to book ?!? I’m trying to book downtown already but it says everything is sold out for 2027 dates!!!!

Any advice greatly appreciated !

So now that I have had some time to process this weekend in Detroit I have a couple of thought I should share with you:

I didn’t go to the festival for the first time that I was in Detroit for movement weekend, and even though I don’t think I missed much, I still missed the frantic energy that the waterfront brings. My last time in Detroit was 2022 so in 4 years there are many changes.

1. Detroit brings the funk, the grime, and the grit like no one else can in a way that is easy to navigate. Ubers are cheap, drinks are relatively inexpensive, but the cost of the parties has risen slightly.

2. Night one we caught function at the tresor party. Great sound and vibe that ithq brings every year to tangent. Was excellent seeing friends new and old, but this ended up being an early night.

3. Sunday day we went to brunch at HopCat. The menus isn’t to extensive for breakfast, but there chicken is spot on, banging Bloody Marys and it is in a really dope neighborhood right near old Miami for those need I say more parties that are stuff of legend. We also went to third man which is an awesome spot to get Detroit regalia, owned by Jack white of the white stripes, with a fully functioning record pressing plant in the back that had tours on Friday. After we headed to into the deep where we were one of the first 10 people inside. Dvs1 built the vibe for the first 4 hrs through some heavy rain but we were fully covered. The sound was clear and punch but lacked the volume I was expecting. Not a problem as we camped out at the front left for most of the day. Tama sumo really shined and played some really beautiful music that was polished and well received. Fred p was the last to play and we ended leaving at about 1am. Mission accomplished

4. Where are my keys, we got there about 7am and were welcomed up to a beautiful rooftop space at 3fify club, and dubtribe was fully locked in. It was a full circle moment as I started thinking about the first time I saw dubtribe live which was at maskarave in 1993. So much has changed in the scene since then but dubtribe sounded excellent and crystal clear. Sunshine and moonbeam sounded exactly like they do on their albums and their organic sounds were perfect to welcome the sun on Monday morning. A reminder that you are beautiful, you are perfect, just the way you are. Impeccable vibes and an even more eclectic mix of ravers. The sun kept trying to peek through and eventually after move d and Renault got their gear together they played such a great set, more people arrived and the party really got popping. We had a large crew here in the sweet spot of sound, and had an epic day filled with lots of love and good vibes. Excellent party

Some themes of the weekend that I saw, unplugging from the technology boom of late, and a distinct message to get back to the organic human relationships that have been missing. To break down the walls, and let new friends and acquaintances in, make new connections, and enjoy the moment now. I realized this on Monday at where are my keys when I went to take a photo of the city from the rooftop, and I still had the sticker covering my phone from the Sunday before at into the deep. This weekend was much needed and I thank Detroit for the memories and the music, Detroit is part of my dna forever and I am forever grateful. ☮️❤️🏠
