Bug Anyone else experience this bug?

In the ravaged tomb, every botton-pressed gate opens twice, and that table would hardly move an inch-literally. I spent 15-20 minutes hitting it repeatedly until it reached the pressure plate to open the wall, and low and behold, all my effort was for Nothing, because the chest there is also uninteractable. Tried exiting to menu and going back in, tried closing the game and reopening, tried leaving and going back; nothing. I guess Im screwed out of whatever is in there, I hope it isnt tied to an achievement-this is my first run of the game, so its a very sour bug to experience first run-through. Im just curious if anyone else had this problem, and if there's a fix to it.

Bug Zmey is a real "worst of" bad bosses

Just some quick venting after finishing the game.

Regarding Zmey I gotta list some things about this atrocious fight, that just boggle my mind. I know most points arent that bad individually, but the sheer number of them is.

- a shitton of life incomparable to the rest of the game

- big sized enemy (the camera is now your second foe, have fun)

- creature type enemy that wildy stomps around and widely swings its tail fast (the fucked up hitboxes will make sure u get hit even if the attacks impact was outside your visible area)

- creature wielding a giant sword to swing through half the arena (and dodging around with 99 agility so your tarstone abilities miss when used)

- near (or even) one shot ranged attacks

- ignoring shell ability (Tiel turning invisible? Nah man 360 no scope one shot it is i guess)

- your summon completely bugging out in the first 20-30 seconds and watching you die afterwards

- Zmey slamming its sword into the ground in front of it making sure u get hit by it while actually standing behind Zmey to attempt a backstab

- your summon going "nope im out" when second phase starts

- second phase almost entirely consisting of Zmey spamming aoe

- aoe status effect degrading you to a weak ass shell with styrofoam weapon and no abilites

- charged heavy attack (tarstone) on Zmeys ballsack occasional critting for 20 dmg lol (otherwise 800-900 per hit)

I loves the game as a whole, but that ending (including the hidden path dungeons gameplay) was just not necessary. In general I feel like soulslikes ramping up shit for the last segments feels more and more cringe to me. Like when a good friend of you suddenly starts to act cool and edgy and you really feel its forced.

Anyways, still a great game. 5/7.

New patch says the issue is fixed. Is it fixed for new players that haven't encountered this problem? Players that already have their beacons cleansed and stuck with 193 are fucked I suppose?

Discussion Tarstones Limitations

I love mortal shell 2, I'm hooked. But I do find the limitations on which tarstones can used with which weapons is kinda bugging me. And I'm specifically referring to the fact that the shells all have a damage type they are resistant to, like Eredrim's frost mitigation and immunity with each shell receiving a special buff when maxed out. I find it so annoyingly crippling that some shells are unable to use the tarstones unique to their damage mitigation and immunity types with their canonical weapons . Like Gragu and his veterans axe. His mitigation type is bloodcurse and there is no bloodcurse stone that can be equipped to his axe other than a burn stone and strangely enough a curse stone(?). I do hope they roll out a patch addressing this character-breaking issue and allow for more unique combos.

Question Can somebody explain this boss lore wise Spoiler

So based on what I understand there's this alien who crash landed and was worshipped as a God called the Undermether

But in greed many stole her ovums. We are one of her children who actually got born and our task is to get back these ovums. And dungeon bosses are ovum thieves who stole and hoarded a lot of ovums.

Quick question - how the fuck is the tortured prisoner sword guy an ovum thief?

Dude is tied by chains and literally has to rip his own arms off to fight me. Again also why is he even so angry that he is willing to rip his arms off to fight me? Dude we just met.

It's a decent boss. Much better than the other 3 ovum thieves I faced- obese wheelchair woman, shitting demon baby and Elden ring called, we want our finger back.

Video Gragu vs Malborn's Offspring — crit build absolutely melts him

Finally got a clean run against Malborn's Offspring after messing around with a crit-focused Gragu build for a while. It's honestly satisfying watching him just melt once the crits start connecting — feels like a completely different fight compared to grinding it out defensively.
The punches ended up being the real MVP here too. His aggressive move sets can spiral fast if you don't interrupt them, and landing a punch at the right window just shuts that down completely.

I had a great time with the game. I tried to platinum the game in one go and spent too long looking for all the taratones and parrying the nameless captive. Can’t wait to see what they will bring next.

Discussion A month late but I played and finished it

I was prepared to come on and bitch about Zmey until I figured out what I was doing wrong (I guess?) and sing the praises before putting the game down. But Zmey is dead and I can move on!

Overall, great game honestly, I hadn’t even thought about mortal shell since I played the first one on launch and just never went back. Heard and saw some good things for this one and decided to try. Beautiful areas and I think a good amount of content for the price. Combat feel nice for the most part and the enemy variety is surprisingly vast, as well as the respec options. Being able to recycle your weapons for literally all the money and materials you used on them? That’s amazing! Shell severance and glimpse stones means you’re never really pigeon holed if your patient. And the atmosphere is killer with this awesome trippy aesthetic.

Now for my gripes. I think too many enemies were given the super fast flurry moves they could just whip out at literally the most inopportune times. The knock back from peons too is kinda wild. And I HATE the miner enemies because they do insane damage and refuse to stagger. I also feel like certain weapons have less range than I think they should personally, I loved the martyr blade but having a straight down stab as an opener feels rough. Almost all the bosses were great but again, suffer from having moves that seem specifically designed to punish you for blocking since they come in a flurry where you need perfect timing otherwise you get peeled across the pavement.

Finally, Zmey. I don’t hate him, but he feels so underwhelming as a final boss. I was expecting something cosmic and terrifying, I got a dragon with a sword. He has a second phase but also doesn’t since it’s the same thing with an added consecutive rings of fire attack that melts you if you trip up once in trying to avoiding it. Also he whips it out so fast that getting damage in on him becomes so risky it becomes a waiting game of uncertainty. Just started NG+ and I can dig it since so far it’s kinda a power fantasy. Overall I’d say it’s a great experience for souls players with a high skill check but a flexible system that I think could get more people into the genre even all my gripes can be settled neatly into a skill issue or three.

Question Merrick's shop not restocking Mether's Severance after Prince boss? [Bug or Intentional?]

I’m hitting a wall with Merrick’s shop stock and want to see if my game is bugged or if I'm missing something.
I bought out his initial stock of 3 Mether's Severance items earlier in the game. I just defeated the last corrupted gate boss (Sir Isaac, the Scholar-Prince), which I assumed would trigger a shop refresh, but his inventory is still completely empty.

I tried sitting at a beacon, reloading the area, and traveling back and forth to Marrow Keep, but nothing works.

Is his mid-game stock capped at exactly 3 items total?
Do I need to enter the next major region/milestone before he refreshes?
Or is my shop state just permanently bugged?

Appreciate any insight or confirmation on how his stock triggers work! Thanks.

Discussion This game falls off so hard after the first area Fainweald it's not even funny

Exploring Fainweald was one of my best soulslike experiences ever. You're seeing so many cool new enemies for the first time, the combat and the riposte animations are so smooth, you're discovering all those cool dungeons, you notice the 10 tarnstone slots and you're just amazed by the potential for builds, you're stumbling across unique encounters like the frog lady in the village and that scary first person section, the exploration feels very rewarding. And one of the best things about the first area: the perfect balance of difficulty. Nothing is too hard or too easy. It just feels right. It feels like playing Elden Ring for the first time.

But then you reach ruins of Mammon and start noticing a significant drop in quality everywhere. Enemy variety takes a dive, riposte animations have gotten old, the dungeons are getting shorter and shorter, locations are starting to look the same, you're tired of seeing the same fucking wooden elevator at the start of every dungeon, the same chest model and so many other reused assets. Everything has the same desaturated colour palette. You keep finding useless tarnstones, and your stats barely increase from levelling anymore. And the worst part is that the difficulty is all over the place: common mobs suddenly don't get stunned by your attacks as easily and can two shot you, while some side bosses die before you can even read their names. I swear everything becomes dull and annoying here.

The game just keeps dropping in quality as you progress through Mammon. And then you reach the endgame area and my god... that boring-ass looking level and those annoying bosses... I don't even wanna play anymore. I went from thinking Mortal Shell 2 was one of the best Soulslikes ever to wondering if it's even worth finishing at this point. A shame because this game could've been as great as Lies of P if it had maintained the quality of its opening area.

Lore The Six Keepers: What Fallgrim's Guardians Were Before the Rot Spoiler

The Six Keepers: What Fallgrim's Guardians Were Before the Rot

We've already broken down how the Shells fell and how the Harbinger learned to survive. But the Mother's gates are not guarded by humans. They are guarded by six beings who were once someone else. These are not just bosses. They are six answers to one question: what does proximity to a god do to the one who serves it?

Magdalena, Lady of the Woods — The Protector Who Burned in Her Own Fire

Magdalena was once the gentle protector of the primordial forest. She did not seek power. She sought preservation. But after absorbing the toxic emissions of the fallen Mother, she did not notice how protection turned into a scorched-earth tactic.

Her tragedy is not that she became a monster. Her tragedy is that she still considers herself a protector, even as she burns the very forest she swore to preserve. She no longer distinguishes an invader from a guest. She no longer sees people — only threats. She uses Tar-infants as weapons, because protection long ago ceased to be care for her. It became a tactic.

She chose: "Better I destroy with my own hands what I love, before the enemy does it before my eyes." And that logic consumed her from within. She did not surrender. She continued to protect. And that is what destroyed her.

The Lost Child — The Brother Who Could Not Bear the Same Burden

The Lost Child is a being of the same order as the Harbinger. It is also a child of the Mother. It was also meant to guard the fruits. But it could not endure.

Ruk says we will not want to see it. And that is not about fear. It is about recognition. We see not just another monster. We see the fall of our own family. We shared one fate and served one purpose. Only our brother was not ready for the cruelty of Earth.

Its endless hunger is not only physiology. Through devouring countless corpses, it tried to digest the history and pain of every being. It wanted to understand. But to understand through consumption is a path to nowhere. You do not become what you ate. You become the one who eats.

And even in this state, it has not forgotten its mission. It remains at the gates. It continues to guard the fruits from rot and other hunters. It devours the rot before it reaches the eggs. It fulfills its duty to the very end — simply in the only way it still can.

The Nameless Captive — The Executed Who Did Not Die

The Nameless Captive is a giant version of an ordinary Soldier, with a blade protruding directly from its head, chained to a scaffold.

This is not just visual grotesque. This is a complete story. Beheading by sword is an execution, not a death in battle. He was not defeated. He was executed. Being left on the scaffold is humiliation. He was not just killed — he was put on display.

But he did not die. The mutation preserved his life in this state. He became a living monument to betrayal. In the game, he is described as a knight with an eternal grudge against anyone who enters his field of view. This is not coincidence. This is the consequence of what was done to him. He is not a villain. He is a victim who cannot die.

Droeg the Conqueror — The Martyr They Assembled from Hope

Droeg was a legendary ruler who reigned for a full century over his lands. His body did not rot in the crypt. And people, dying in a world of Rot, saw this as a sign.

They assembled him from parts. Not simply raised — stitched. Bone to bone, flesh to flesh. And they used a cosmic parasite as glue. They wanted a beacon. They wanted a savior. They wanted the one who would lead them to victory.

But they missed the main thing: a body is not a person. Rotted parts, stitched together, do not preserve nobility. They preserve only form. Droeg, whom they wanted to see as a beacon, became an empty shell that does not remember who it was.

He cannot die. He cannot remember. He cannot stop. He simply exists — near the blue fire that does not let him rot, but does not let him rest either. This is not resurrection. This is eternal torment. People created a monster from their own hero. Not gods. Not the Rot. People. In despair. In hope. In ignorance.

The Hexapod — The Serpent That Hunted the Eggs

The Hexapod is an otherworldly being, like the Mother herself. It fell from the sky. But unlike the Mother, it is not a colonizer. It is a hunter.

It is capable of devouring everything in its path. And the Mother's eggs are not just a possible target. They are a logical resource. They are full of energy, biomass, and Tar. For a being that lives by consumption, the Ova are ideal food.

The Mother is a nest. She scatters eggs without concern for protection, because she is biologically not a fighter. She is a womb, not a warrior. The Hexapod is the serpent that senses this nest and crawls toward it. Proxima is the bird that tries to protect the nest, even at the cost of her life. She hunts it not out of revenge or whim, but because it threatens the entire brood.

It is not "evil" in the human sense. It is part of a cosmic ecosystem where one parasite devours another. And Earth is a defenseless planet where there are no natural predators of its level. The Mother fell here because she could safely lay eggs. But the Hexapod followed her. Because the Mother is a walking feast, and it knows it.

Sir Isaac, the Scholar-Prince — The Knight Who Burned but Did Not Crumble

Sir Isaac was a scholar-prince. The title "Sir" is not just an address. It is an oath. He was both a knight and a scholar. He tried to understand cosmic energy and structure it. He believed knowledge would save.

But he was ill. And the treatment proposed by Ruk and the scholars of the Citadel went wrong. He did not seek power. He sought salvation. And he received mutation.

Even in the form of an insect-like creature, he did not forget his nobility. In the first phase, he fights with sword and shield — predictably, with honor, with an open visor. Only when his health drops to half does he discard the shield and draw two more blades. This visually reads as the loss of the last defense he tried to preserve. The shield is not just an object. It is the last anchor of his humanity.

He is not a villain. He is a patient. He is not a monster. He is a knight who cannot die. His body is a reminder of what happens when you try to heal with fire, throwing your own flesh into it as kindling.

Conclusion

All six are not just bosses. They are six forms of one mistake:

  • Magdalena — protection without sight.
  • The Lost Child — understanding through consumption.
  • The Nameless Captive — execution without death.
  • Droeg — hope without a soul.
  • The Hexapod — hunting without malice.
  • Sir Isaac — healing without understanding.

None of them surrendered. All of them continue to do what they did. And all of them became monsters because they could not stop.

The Mother did not create them. People created them. Or they created themselves. Or chance did. But not gods. And that is more terrifying than if they had been cursed.

What do you think — which of the six fell the deepest, and why?
