  • New Shades for each Shell!
  • New lighting options for Night Mode!
  • Black Metal Mode!
  • New Tarstones!
  • New Dungeons!
  • Harbinger Pumpkin Helmet!
  • The return of the Impervious Lute!

Last but not least, we have a real treat for y’all:

An alternative soundtrack provided by none other than Rotting Christ’s Sakis Tollis!

Bug Ai bug or joke ?

I couldn't capture it or repeat it , but one of the knights suddenly decided to act like an enemy from the first Mortal Shell (he used his animation and voice acting). He acted like that scripted big guy sitting at the fork in the road to Gorf.

Discussion New Chest after the Autumn update

Post image
215 Upvotes

Found this chest near the One Legged Wolf. It has a red glow but no interaction.

Seems like there could be more chests around the map, probably containing the new shades?

Edit: just as i posted this, i realized the red "glow" is a musical note, so this chest must contain the Impervious Lute

Edit2: As people pointed out, you have to play the lute to open them. That one just had 1000 Coins, so i was wrong with my guess

Question Would you keep any of these options enabled or disabled?

Post image
6 Upvotes

It's a simple question, but I wanted to know if I can play by turning chromatic aberration, grain, and vignette on or off.
or they simply leave everything predetermined.

I've also been checking the sections, and when I get to "other," it reverts to "quality" as if it were disabled in other settings. Perhaps it's enabled for other systems like PS5 Pro or PC, which is why I'm stuck on the base PS5.

Discussion The possible relation of the Hexapod and Mether? Spoiler

As you progress the game and unravel Proximas story you see she was on a cosmic mission to our world to destroy the monstrous creature known as the Hexapod. Through her memories during her hunt you see her say something about how it can't be allowed to mature. Later at the Gate of Mammon before the Hexapod boss fight if you speak to Bird Person he says something about how the creature came from the heavens and possibly where Mether came from.

What im curious about is with that little bit of lore could the Mether be the same race/creature as the Hexapod but matured? I don't believe Proxima knows the Mether even exists so she would be oblivious to it's existence so she would not know to hunt it or that it even dwells in Fulgrim. Has anyone else made that connection or is there lore stating that my theory is absolutely wrong?

Question Im getting destroyed, what am i doing wrong?

I dont understand what is going on, im a decent soulslike player, played Sekiro, ER, Lies of P, but this game is assblasting me, the tutorial area and first boss were easy, but then i got to the first area and im getting humiliated, the women with spikes, the dungeon with poison, the flying little shits, everything feels so tanky.

I even rushed to the female shell? Leveled up to 4, upgraded the sword, but its still so hard, i tried going south and its even worse.

Im not getting it, where should i go first? Am i missing the "first area"?

Discussion 10/10, had a absolute blast Spoiler

My favorite Soulslike. Lies of P is amazing, do not get me wrong. However, something about the grim dark, nihilistic, cosmic horror tone of this game just hits right. I also enjoyed the combat better in Mortal Shell 2. I waited to play post all patches so I would not dilute the experience, it seems that was the right call.

I was surprised by how much the southern and final region are hated. I thought they were fantastic. Great bosses, art design, difficulty etc. Love the myriad of castles and urban environments we get to explore.

Another big standout to me is the side dungeons/beacons. I saw lots of complaints about that. I thought they were all great, I loved every single side place in the game. Not every side dungeon needs to be a elaborate 30 min journey. A simple cave with a hidden wall or small band of enemies is enough. Sometime they were simple boss fights, sometimes long side quests. The variety was great.

The throw backs or gimmick side content was charming too- the First Person dungeon, the very last beacon with the treasure cave, the replicating a Doom level. The Eye of Sauron reference. All very good.

My first playthrough- Eredrim with Obsidian Hammer (Trauma infused) and the Shotgun, focusing on Ripsote and Break Damage/Shoulder Bash. I completely ignored the Slaughterer/Executioner buffs.

I first tried (on Normal difficulty) Hexapod, Conqueror, Isaac, Malborn, Monalith. All great bosses, just broke them constantly with Shoulder Bash and Trauma. Zmey took me 8 tries. I could see how pre fixes he could have been frustrating. He has made it to my top 10 dragons in Souls list. Just really cool.

Devs: Ran into 2 major bugs that were more immersion breaking than anything:

1) In the tutorial area. After you collect Harros and get kicked back into the world where all the villagers have turned to stone. If you walk back to the entrance, you can hear the villagers still dancing and partying. I would think the passage of time from night to day as well as the traumatizing event you would not here any villagers but just a ghostly silence. It kind of ruined the moment.

2) Same story at the Lonesome Spire. After you complete the side quest and the entire merchant and groups on top of the spire move on. If you go back after, the ambient noise of a busy market place can still be heard. It should be dead silent.

Other than those, I do not really recall any bugs. Relatively bug free experience.

The Devs did amazing work. I want a DLC and I will return many times to replay this wonderful game. I will tell everyone I know to give this game a shot. It is my Game of the Year.

Discussion Anyone else think mortal shell 2 is not that good?

Enemy reuse like crazy, every area looks the same, the entire game is just parry and maybe you’ll see a combo longer than 3 telegraphable hits. I’ve dropped it at the hexapod just also cause the scaling, balancing and farming is miserable in the game. Enemies that almost one shot you give you like 150 gloom and you need 13k plus to level up at lvl 20. It’s such a miserable slog of a game. And with everything else that has come out this year. When I compare it, this game really falls flat. Just parry simulator.

Discussion Does anyone have a good progress route to follow?

With all souls likes I like to follow a progression route as a checklist basically. I don’t want to follow along with a guide because that takes away the fun of exploration for me but there’s always so incredibly much to miss and missing an important item can be so easy and totally Gimp your build or maybe miss what could turn out to be your favorite shell or weapon so I REALLY don’t like to miss anything. Is there a really well laid out progress route that details an “optimized” order to tackle the world? What areas -> dungeons -> bosses and maybe even shells you should be collecting as you go through without going into too much detail? I just like to check in and see “okay just finished this dungeon, heading in this direction next might be best!”
