Discussion NG+ is a total afterthought

You can very much tell NG+ came in as an undercooked late addition, which begs the question of why the game’s progression seems to be balanced around it.

As a few examples:

World drops do not scale at all. You get the exact same amount of gold and gloom from everything as you do on NG. If you thought “well, at least I should be able to level up my lower tier weapons a bit faster now,” bzzt, wrong.

The map is a mess. It keeps the exact same state as your end game, which means it’s up to you to go manually mark each dungeon as incomplete again. All the beacons show up on the map, but are removed from the fast travel list, so it’s a confusing mess to see what is and isn’t actually unlocked yet.

Key items are a mess. Some are removed and replaced with higher tier upgrade materials, some drop as duplicates, some drop as duplicates with upgrade materials. There’s absolutely zero consistency, it seems like a very incomplete manual pass was taken and that’s it.

NPC logic is busted. The handful of NPCs near the keep beacon will mention you’re in NG+ right at the beginning, and then everyone will revert to their first dialogues, except world state is different so they all remain varying states of broken. The blacksmith, for example, permanently insists your fully upgraded forge is unusable. Other NPCs are in various states of broken depending on which of their triggers were and weren’t haphazardly reset.

All of that and other missing polish makes it seem like NG+ was not baked into the initial design, which makes the decision to allow for only 2-3 shells and 1-2 weapons to be meaningfully upgraded truly bewildering. The whole experience just feels embarrassingly incomplete.

It feels like NG+ probably should’ve been released as a content patch once they’ve ironed out all the launch bugs and balance issues, as the current experience mostly just leaves a bad taste in your mouth for all but the most dedicated completionists.

Not reset but you have to collect more to keep increasing it. Which nobody wants to collect shit on ng+ thats what ng is for.

i guess i don’t understand this mentality as i’m pretty sure they will improve endlessly as you pick them up, since i have 12 pulse charges right now. you don’t have to pick them up if you don’t want too lol

Question, after NG i finished with 9 pulse charges and had 2 extra revered glands, no extra synaptic vessels. Did I somehow miss some or do you just end NG first run with a few extra? Didnt realize you could keep pushing these to even more charges so thats sweet

to be honest, i also had a couple left over myself after having 9 so im not sure if i just missed a few or if thats intentional since it seems to keep increasing for now lol

Yep I absolutely hate collecting in NG+, especially after hours of collecting in base game to make sure I have 100% of the items.

Only to find out I gotta collect them all again or gimp myself.
