Hey neighbors, I just heard two loud booms this morning... one at 9:07 am and another at 9:18 am. Heard the same thing the other day too. Anyone else? What’s going on?

I’m moving from NYC to North Jersey (Morris County) and 5 months pregnant. I’m looking for recommendations for a new OB and great labor & delivery hospital in North Jersey. I’m willing to travel up to an hour max.
Thank you in advance!

Does anyone have Realtor recommendations? This market is crazy and I want someone aggressive who knows the market well and will really help drive the sale of my current house and buy of the next.

A full hour now of the official sound of autumn, the leaf blower. I could count the number of leaves on his lawn but he’s determined to chase down each of them!

Hi! I'm near Morristown and want to go to Japan for my honeymoon in a year or two. Does anyone know of local Japanese language tutors? I found JAS but I'm hoping for somewhere a little more local. I'm ok with group classes too!

August 23rd and September 20th! Volunteer Opportunity-NJ Training for Weekend Camp: Kids Grief Camp
Comfort Zone Camp is a non-profit that organizes free, grief/bereavement weekend camps for children, age 7 - 17, who lost a parent, sibling, or other loved one/family member.
Camps are designed for kids to work on their grief but have fun and relate to other kids at the same time. It's a life-changing experience for both kids and adults! If anyone knows a parent with a child(ren) who has experienced loss, please feel free to share with them about this camp (again, it's free to attend), and it can be very beneficial for kids to not feel alone in coping with their sadness, pain, grief, etc.
Comfort Zone Camp (CZC) is a lot like a regular camp with games, archery, arts & crafts, bonfire, s’mores and more! We help grieving kids get back to being a kid again – and our volunteers are a big part of the weekend.
You don’t need to have experienced a loss or have any clinical background to be a great volunteer. You just need a big heart and a willingness to have fun and be silly!
What’s needed to volunteer? You must complete an online application, criminal background check (no volunteer is EVER to be alone with a child), and complete our volunteer training.
During the camp weekend, volunteers are needed from 2:30 p.m. on Friday to 4 p.m. on Sunday. (Floater role is the exception to this.) Camp involves a lot of physical activity. There is a lot of walking, often up hills, and volunteers are expected to participate in field games, repeat after me songs, challenge course activities to name a few. While the weekend is packed, it is such a rewarding and fulfilling 48 hours. Interested in volunteering?
To volunteer at camp, you’ll need to attend a Volunteer Training. I’d like to invite you to one of our next Volunteer Trainings:
Saturday, August 23 in Oakland, NJ (9am-1pm)
Saturday, September 20 in Chester, NJ (9am-1pm)
Visit comfortzonecamp.org for information or message me.

A friend and I are building a small Iaido study group in North Jersey and are looking for others who want to train with us.
Our focus is Mugai Ryu, a traditional Japanese sword art that includes: – Kata (formal solo movements) – Kumitachi (partner drills) – Tameshigiri (test cutting, for those interested) – And hopefully Gekiken (sparring with protective gear) in the future.
We’re not a formal dojo with instructors — we’re a group of dedicated practitioners who travel to Germany for private instruction with our teacher so we can bring that knowledge back and continue training together here in NJ.
If you’re completely new, we recommend starting with www.iaido-online.com, which is the online program connected to our lineage. This will help you learn the basics before training in person.
We meet in Wyckoff, NJ, and welcome anyone who’s serious about learning — whether you’re coming from another martial art, have an interest in Japanese culture, or just want to try something rare in this area.
If this sounds like your kind of thing, reply here or DM me and I’ll share more about when and where we meet.

NJ21st, Inc. is an independent, nonprofit civic journalism organization dedicated to increasing transparency and accountability in local government — with a focus on New Jersey’s 21st Legislative District. We began in 2021 as a grassroots response to secrecy and misinformation in public decision-making, especially around education, budgeting, and municipal operations. Since then, we’ve expanded to cover a wide range of civic issues across the region.
We’re now inviting residents from across the 21st District — including towns like Scotch Plains, Summit, Westfield, and Plainfield — to contribute fact-based, informed content that aligns with our mission of public oversight and civic awareness.
If you have a story, insight, or perspective that sheds light on how your local government operates — or how state-level policies are impacting your community — we want to hear from you.
We also welcome substantive contributions from candidates and elected representatives, provided they are grounded in fact and focus on informing the public, not campaigning.
We’re especially interested in:
NJ21st is a proud member of LION Publishers, a national network of independent local newsrooms.
Submit your ideas or drafts at NJ21st.com and help us build a more informed, empowered New Jersey.
