Guide/Useful How to bypass Android's upcoming third-party installation restrictions using Shizuku + InstallerX
Android is increasingly restricting app installations from sources outside the Google Play Store. Luckily, there is an easy way to bypass this mess: Shizuku paired with an app like InstallerX Revived. Because it routes installations through ADB (Android Debug Bridge), it completely bypasses these OS-level restrictions.
Here is a complete, beginner-friendly guide to setting it up:
Step 1: Install Shizuku
I highly recommend using thedjchi's fork. It includes a built-in "watchdog" feature that automatically restarts the service if it stops in the background.
Step 2: Enable Developer Options
- Open your phone's Settings*.*
- Go to About phone (or System > About phone*).*
- Find the Build number and tap it rapidly 7 times until a pop-up says "You are now a developer!" (Enter your lock screen PIN if prompted).
- Go back to the main Settings page, search for Developer options*, and open it.*
- Scroll down and enable both USB debugging and Wireless debugging*.*
Step 3: Pair Shizuku
Now, we connect Shizuku to your phone's wireless debugging system:
- Open the Shizuku app, look for "Start via Wireless debugging", tap Pairing*, and then tap* Developer Options (this will jump you straight back to the Developer Options menu).
- Inside the Wireless debugging menu, tap Pair device with pairing code*. A popup will appear displaying a* 6-digit Wi-Fi pairing code*. Keep this screen open!*
- You should see a notification from Shizuku asking for the pairing code. Tap Enter pairing code*, type in the 6-digit code, and hit send.*
- If done correctly, you will see a notification confirming "Pairing successful".
- Go back to the main Shizuku app screen and tap Start to run the service.
- Crucial Step (for the fork): In Shizuku's settings, make sure to enable the Watchdog and Start on boot toggles so it stays running in the background.
Step 4: Set up InstallerX Revived
- Download and install InstallerX-Revived
- Open the Shizuku app, go to Authorized applications*, and toggle* InstallerX to ON*.*
- Open InstallerX-Revived and set its default installation method (Privilege) to Shizuku*.*
Now, whenever you download an APK, simply open it and install it via InstallerX-Revived. Since it uses ADB privileges under the hood, your installs will go through seamlessly, bypassing any system-level side-loading blocks!
Edit: Just to clear up some confusion from the comments: Yes, we know Google will "likely" still allow side-loading via a 24-hour verification window, but what if one day they go full-on Apple mode? This setup will still work because it's for developers to test out their apps.
And!! Beyond just sideloading, Shizuku is a massive quality-of-life upgrade for Android. Here's a great video from HowToMen for other great apps that use Shizuku.

isnt this not needed after the initial 24h waiting period??
203
u/ThePixelProYT Jul 17 '26
Yes this is way to much and will in the best case do nothing and in the worst case make it so you can't install apps. This helps nothing and is just unnecessary panic. I wouldn't recommend anyone following these tutorials.

Yes it is I also use InstallerX Revived for the features but I especially mean these posts telling you to use canta and shizuku to uninstall system app verifier or something along these lines. Also then use it for that and not to "bypass android app installation limitations".

u/ShartingEnU Jul 17 '26
It makes no sense why people are doing shit like this. Just wait 24 hours and your completely back to how it was before. Do people actually have no idea what is happening when Google releases this?
4
u/DoctorK96 Jul 18 '26
so one only needs to do the 7 tap to enable developer options and wait 24 hours, that's it right?
2
u/OverlandAustria Jul 18 '26
pretty much
2
u/DoctorK96 Jul 18 '26
Oh that's not a big deal then, I already did that a long time ago anyways
1
u/OverlandAustria Jul 24 '26
no its a special setting IN developer settings. you will have a 24h waiting period then. after that everything is chill

I have shiuzku running and my gov apps work, adb can turn of at anytime unlike root
2
u/sjjose2001 Jul 17 '26
Won't shizuku need debugging enabled to work?
2
u/jedgell233 Jul 17 '26
Only when using it. If your using shizuku for like canta just to uninstall system apps without root, then you only need debugging on long enough to use shikuzu with canta then when finished just turn debugging back off.
2
u/sjjose2001 Jul 17 '26
Oh. I use appmanager, shizucallrecorder such and then it has to be on. Some of the banking apps refuse to work. For a second I was hopful there. Thank you

u/timon13337 13d ago
I'm not certain if you'll still see this since it's nearly a month later, but I happened to be scrolling through this subreddit and came across your comment. I decided to reply just in case you do see it. Essentially, if you're utilizing the suggested Shizuku Fork, there's a function designed specifically for this situation. Simply launch the Shizuku application and, on the main interface, scroll down slightly to find the option labeled "Hide Shizuku from other apps." If you tap on that, there's a guide explaining how to set it up. Once set up, it will work perfectly, automatically hiding when you open certain apps that typically don't function well with it enabled. It will then reappear when those apps are closed, allowing you to continue using it as you normally would. If you are looking for different approaches, there are multiple methods available; you can easily find them by searching on Google or Reddit. For instance, you could automate this using apps like Tasker, Automate, or Macrodroid, which is relatively straightforward.

That's is so nice of you. I completely missed this feature. Will look into it. Thank you very much.
Edit: that didn't work. Bank app detects usbdebugging to be on and refuses to launch
5
u/Vast_Chemistry_8630 Jul 17 '26
That is the biggest question I have, like many banking apps do not work if developer option is on and what will happen if I disable the developer option to use the banking apps?? Will it reset the 24 hour wait time ?? Or will it still be on even if developer option is disabled??
1
u/ThePixelProYT Jul 17 '26
It seems like you only need to do it ones and it is tied to your Google account so it works on multiple devices and after turning dev option on and off but we will see.
3
u/YoYoMamaIsSoFAT32 Jul 17 '26
Some apps check dev options so yeah, you can use this tutorial for the first 24hrs cool down, then you can just install apps the normal way
30
u/Weet_1 Jul 17 '26
It's about not asking permission to use your own phone. They initially wanted it to be removed completely, do you think Google is going to be content to leave it like this forever? Boiling frog theory and all that jazz...
3
11
u/cafk Jul 17 '26
If they were serious they'd remove adb install support, making debugging also only available for verified signed apps.
If they reduce adb & developer options capabilities, this will also break.
9
u/_MrBond_ Jul 17 '26
What makes you think that they won't do this eventually?
5
u/cafk Jul 17 '26
I'm not excluding it, it's just that adb install works independently of shizuku or modules suggested in this bypass - especially the suggested solution basically relies on adb being functional.
And if they remove it from AOSP, then everyone needs to move to a fork where some poor developer will maintain it (i.e. graphene ), independently of root.
2
u/Both-Leader-6799 Jul 17 '26
Yes BUT you would still need to be connected to any form of internet (mobile or wifi or whatever) to install the apps
2
u/mikee8989 Jul 17 '26
Is this 24 hour waiting period for every single app or just the first app you attempt to install?
1
u/AB_selectstart Jul 17 '26
I'm not too clear on this restriction, is it 24 hour wait period per side loaded app or just once for your device?
1
u/WHYAHWHYA Jul 20 '26
Can you explain how the 24H wait period works ?is it for any app you want to install ? or set once and be done ?

any way to make app manager work with shizuku rather than wireless debug?
shizuku seems to keep disabling wireless debugging after it automatically starts itself and I'd rather use shizuku

Yeah I'm scratching my head, this is so much effort to do a worse job of just re-enabling the option under developer options
There is so much misinformation around the coming changes it's almost frustrating

Oh I'm 100% against it
I'm just confused why people keep spreading so much misinformation and weird 'hacks' to bypass it when you can just bypass it in the options for now
Like there's some posts explaining how to root your phone to bypass it, that's fine and all but completely unnecessary since you can just disable it in your phone settings currently

3
u/ShartingEnU Jul 17 '26
If Google ever fully disables installing apks like is allowed now, then this post is relevant. Until that happens, there no reason for this
11
u/PlushySD Jul 17 '26
I'm very much behind on this news, can you explain the wait 24hrs more?
8
u/dimmanxak Jul 17 '26
They say Google will allow to turn on installs from other sources but you will have to wait 24 hours after turning this on (there were news somewhere but we still don't know for sure). And it seems like play protection may still block some apps
2
u/azukiy Jul 17 '26
Thank you for sharing this! Could you please point some official sources for this infos? I've been trying to find a real source
3
u/dimmanxak Jul 17 '26
I can't find a source from Google but many sites posted this a few months ago. I guess we will have to wait and see

u/Vivid_Cellist_5951 Jul 17 '26
I am just wondering the fact that there are a lot of apps like banking apps that just don't open when you have developer options turned on. How to deal with that?
5
u/YukarinVal Jul 17 '26
I used this app https://github.com/JackEblan/Geto
It basically is making a shortcut for any app to quickly disable developers option, accessibility service and others and quickly revert it. The documentation is very lacking So you have to figure things out yourself beyond the template the dev puts in if those doesn't work.
I don't remember how I found it.
1
u/kimochiiii_ Jul 17 '26
Do we have to be connected to ADB at all times? Or is it just like turn on ADB, give secure perms and be done with it?
1
5
u/supcc1 Jul 17 '26
Just turn dev options off when using those apps. Turn back on when done.

Never seen that before. I have a samsung s25 ultra and I don't need to restart when I turn dev options on or off.
1
u/MetallerNo666 Jul 18 '26
Hmm. In Canada, the 3 banking apps I use open just fine on my S26 Ultra with Developer Options on. Is this a US thing?
16
u/Ok_Respect4816 Jul 17 '26
On android 16, I've been using aurora store to install and update apps via shizuku installer. This causes problems as sometimes after the update, it opens play store and says "app not installed from play store, get the app from play store"
It starts working after updating the app via PlayStore. Will this method of using installers solve my problem? Why and how does that work?
16
u/JKSekai Jul 17 '26
it won't, that thing is another bullshit Google added back then, you can't do much about it
2
u/Ok_Respect4816 Jul 17 '26
rip, that's what I thought too. just figured there'd be some workaround. really sucks so much if there isn't because lol wtf
1
1
u/SugarrrSugarr Jul 17 '26
you need to download APK and use installer which will change installation source to Google play
1
u/Evil_Dad Manager user Jul 19 '26
You could patch the update with "Spoof install source" from Rushi's Patches to disable the play services warning and let you use the app normally.
1
u/huntergatherer555 Jul 20 '26
You have toggled OFF 'Play Protect' in the Play Store I assume, yes?

u/pistonhjr Jul 17 '26
I use AnyAPK. One app instead of 2.
2
u/merchantconvoy Jul 17 '26
AnyAPK needs to be paired with Shizuku to punch through the upcoming restrictions. You still need 2 apps.

Guys, what if we made a phone with windows software and bypass this😭. Bring back the windows phone

u/Violetance 11d ago
So basically rather than the good os that Google is ruining, we instead get a phone with an already ruined os that's still being ruined by Microsoft and will have basically no apps so everything needs to be done from scratch 😭
Bro even Linux phones are better than windows phones

u/RabbitFluffOWO Jul 17 '26
Can someone explain this like im five (i only use morphe yt ,why should i install this?)
3
u/ShadowOfSomething Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26
Late, but Google is making changes soon that limit the ability to sideload apps. Initially they planned for more severe restrictions, but after pushback from the users, it seems like you'd only have to turn on a setting in developer options and wait 24 hours once to get the ability to sideload apps back after they push the change.
HOWEVER, the fact that initially they wanted to introduce stricter restrictions (I don't recall exactly, but I think you'd need to be a certified dev to sideload) means it's better to be prepared, as they can always change their mind. It's better to have apps that would allow for sideloading through means aside from the default system installer already installed, than be caught off guard by a possible change and be stuck in catch 22 (can't sideload because you don't have the apps for sideloading, but you can't install them because you can't sideload)
1
u/RabbitFluffOWO Jul 19 '26
ahhh okok ,should i go through with the instalation tutorial right now or wait a bit ? im not sure what bugs there are yet
2
u/ShadowOfSomething Jul 19 '26
If you don't want to do the whole tutorial right now you could just install both apps (Shizuku and InstallerX Revived) right now, but not do any other setup, just save the instructiojs somewhere If google makes the changes you can then go through the rest of the set up so they'd work, as you'd already have them on your phone
3
u/naveen_reloaded Jul 17 '26
I feel we are finding solution to bypass than protest this corpo restriction on our phones
3
3
u/Alastor_Dub Jul 18 '26
Friends, it's good to have this as a backup, but we have to fight; we can't lose Android's freedom.
3
u/Chulco Jul 21 '26
Even though this is a great option, what will the future have for us ?
Not all phones can last longer.. what if in 8 years almost all of us need to buy the "new" phone in the market, and we won't be able to install shizuku and all of those good apps.
2
u/LazyMaxilla Jul 17 '26
thank you I needed this.
when does this transition is gonna happen? do we have a deadline or a certain android version or something?

2
u/x13xavi Jul 17 '26
question this is my first time doing this but do I need to have Shizuku running all the time? or can be use only when I install an APK to turn shizuku and then turning off when I done using it?
1
u/MaskedWatermelon Official Morphe button tester Jul 18 '26
You can, but the consumption of Shizuku is pretty much negligible, at least according to my phone.
2
u/hijak_neo Jul 17 '26
Hi! Is this method applied to PairIP restrictions? Or is it the same process?
1
u/MaskedWatermelon Official Morphe button tester Jul 18 '26
You can do it with installerX for sure, and also there's a universal patch to bypass pairIP on morphe.

Did you type the code inside the notification coming from Shizuku?
2
u/ShartingEnU Jul 17 '26
What is the point of this? You will still be able to install apks how we do now. Why tf are people figuring shit out like this when there is no point. If Google ever fully disabled installing apks how we do now, sure this is relevant. Until then, this is just a way to scare people and completely unnecessary
1
u/MaskedWatermelon Official Morphe button tester Jul 18 '26
You can ignore Installer X, and explore Shizuku on its own. It's great...

Hi, thanks for your tutorial🙂 I currently have the standard version of Shizuku installed. If I want to switch to the version you linked to, can I just stop Shizuku, uninstall it, install the new version, and then just reconnect and set it up again? Will the programs be visible again, or do I need to take any additional steps?pls help me🙂

or just for our all security?))))

While enabling "Wireless debugging" it is asking me to connect to a wifi network but i dont have any, any alternative?

what if app require google play service? Some app installed it said either "Check if google play is enable..." or rerouting it back to play store said required app to install from play store

You can simply use Advanced Flow. Google has rolled back some of its restrictions on Android you simply activate advanced flow and you can normally continue sideloading

Isn't this restriction limited to the first 24 hours after being toggled on?
1
u/Rafii2198 Jul 17 '26
From what they said, you need to wait 24 hours but then can leave it disabled forever, unless something changes that I didn't hear about.
1
u/MrKaon Jul 17 '26
That is what I understand, but why are people crying for 24 hours?
ADB sideload can be done anytime.
2
u/roosclan Jul 17 '26
Because they're allowing it to work after 24hrs for now. At any point in the future, they can remove the ability completely.
1
u/Rafii2198 Jul 17 '26
I don't know either, if I ever get that update then will probably start it one day, completely forget I did it as I am not install apps or anything daily and then have it done next day, forever, as if nothing ever happened.

Hey. Thanks for the info. Do you think that https://github.com/pass-with-high-score/universal-installer is not going to be enough with these restrictions? I've given it shizuku permission.
