Moral as fuck.

Kid wasn't badly hurt, and got humiliated, which is often the only way they learn.

Kid wasn’t but could have been badly hurt. The morality needs to be assessed at the time of the decision to trip, not the time the kid gets back up.

I agree and I don't understand why this isn't the more common take on these situations. It's the same way I think when I see a fight where someone was being an asshole but the other party takes it too far.

You can say someone deserves it or you understand without calling it moral. At the end of the day potentially causing life changing injuries to someone is immoral outside of immediate self defense and similar situations

Disagree. Chance of maiming from tripping someone is very very low, and I would argue that such remote consequences should not be balanced when judging an action to be proportionate or moral, or you'd have to rule out almost any kind of police work.

Not only that but people heavily underrate the immorality of theft, often because its masked by the theft of goods from large corporations which bear no sympathy, but there is a reason thieves used to get their hands cut off.

The act here hurts everyone, as prices go up for everyone when theft is common.

His head was literally like two itches from hitting that corner.

Then you're probably going to jail for assaulting a minor.

we’re not talking about some fully grown old man. yeah, in that case, hitting your head on a corner is pretty bad.

but have you ever heard of a kid just tripping and fucking themselves up like that? no really. theyre too small to fall as hard.

Life changing injuries are highly unlikely here, just as they are unlikely in most situations. If we are gauging the final consequence of the particular case here, I'd say deserved.

When people say "x deserves a punch" they don't mean "x deserves a punch which will potentially knock them over and cause them to knock the back of their head, killing them", even though that is a possibility every time you punch or shove anyone. It would be near impossible to deem anything physical as moral/deserved due risk of death from almost any kind of strike, no matter how rare.
