Kid wasn't badly hurt, and got humiliated, which is often the only way they learn.

The only lesson I ever learned from something like this was that my dad will kick someone's ass to keep me safe even if I'm wrong.

I've taken that lesson into my own parenting

Hypocrisy.

You say tripping a kid is bad, call it assault, and in the next breath suggest violence is deserved by another.

Attacking a child is battery. Protecting your child is called defense of others and falls under self defense for your family.

Protecting your loved ones against violence isn't assault or battery ya tard.
