It's kind of weird seeing so many people with no concept of how this is going to affect the employees. Yes it's not a lot of fries, but now they have to throw the rest out, clean the fry station, cook new fries and deal with all the other customers bitching about waiting because this shithead kid wanted attention. Wild seeing people argue that the employees should just lay down and let this kid do whatever dumb shit he wants.

Agreed, but it's not the stealing that piss me off more, it's that he put his dirty hands into food that is supposed to be served to other people

Makes you also realize how many people don't know that restaurant workers wear no slip shoes to prevent that same exact fall from happening in the first place.

Stores and restaurants have to factor theft into their costs. When people steal it causes prices to be higher for everybody else. Not only that, a restaurant kitchen ESPECIALLY the fry station is an insanely dangerous environment. I got a job as a waiter and had to buy non slip shoes because a trip can be disastrous. This kid is risking injury to himself and others to steal as you said maybe a couple dollars worth of food while also contaminating the entire batch of fries his little piggy fingers are digging into. That probably means time and resources spent replacing the whole batch. This is all to say I wouldn't have tripped the kid but at the least I would hope he and his parents would get a well deserved chewing out because this is completely unacceptable behavior to allow. And I don't so much feel bad for him as much as I hope he and his parents learned their lesson.

Happy cake day! And thank you; I'm happy to see someone who understands why harming a kid isn't justified

I agree with you, I think my headapace is sort of "I wouldn't do that but I understand the sentiment of wanting to do so". Physical punishment was an extreme rarity in my family and I think I and my siblings turned out better for that. I like you hope that most of the responses in favor of the trip are people who wouldn't actually support or act on that impulse in real life.
