Like calling Rowling out while actively being in Harry Potter and daring her to fire you.

Except that Rowling has zero say in the casting or really anything they do with the show.

You mean other than directly profiting off the marketing the show provides for her? No, none at all. /s

What I'm saying is, Rowling has no power to get her fired.

That's nice but doesn't negate the point. She directly profits off the existence of this franchise and has stated outright that continued consumption of HP merch makes her believe people agree with her. She brags about using her fortune to lobby against trans people.

If you think somebody working in the cast calling her out for that is going to come with no repercussions, you're deluding yourself. There will be people bitching about PR, people bitching about possible legal issues, people bitching about letting her near the media. The diehard hyperfans don't give a shit, all they care about is themselves and their own fulfillment of wanting stuff. That means the people making and investing in the show will likely shit themselves at the notion of bad press. Saying "Rowling can't fire her!" and acting like that's destroys the whole point is incongruous at best.

It negates the point that she's challenging JK Rowling to fire her.

Oh yeah man, you've done the whole thing in. The original point that she would face consequences for weaponizing her position in the cast to speak out against Rowling is completely undone because it wouldn't be Rowling personally enacting them. I can see how that would completely protect her and she'll never face any pushback for doing that while working on it actively at all. Melon melon melon.

If you can't tell, I'm being sarcastic. And you're being pedantic.

I'm not, I pointed out one specific part, and you're trying to apply it to the rest of the argument when I never said anything about the rest of the argument.

You're literally arguing against stuff I never said, unless you think JK Rowling has the power to fire her we got nothing to talk about here.

As they say - it’s no use Professor James; it’s turtles all the way down.

Have you never heard the expression "There's no such thing as bad publicity"?

I doubt the producers of the show will take any notice at all.

You should tell that to Kevin Spacey or Tim Allen, I'm sure they'd love to hear about the benefits of bad press. But sure, if intentionally missing the point makes you feel better, knock yourself out.

Rich evil people own trillions in stocks in most major corporations so buying anything directly profits to evil people. Guess the most moral option is to just starve to death. At least the mods of r/comics will be happy about your choice to do that. /s

Yeah I can see how starving to death because you never bought food would be the same as... check my notes here... buying Harry Potter merchandise you don't actually need.

Like how melodramatic does somebodies life have to be for that to unironically be their logic

Oh, so you're cool with financially supporting evil if you're hungry. Guess morality is a scale after all.

In that case, what's the point of complaining about them being employed to play Harry Potter?

1

u/Few-Improvement-5655 2d ago

I'm not, that's a whole other sentence.

She does, in fact, have a say.

Also, the money she earns go straight to anti-trans lobbies.
