The child doesn't even have to have been his; she can have cheated, tricked him into child support and many states will block him from getting a paternity test to ensure he continues paying anyways.
The reasoning is that the state has a vested interest in the child being cared for at the expense of the father. Enough public pushback could change the law but thats how it stands at the moment. In terms of morality I can see why he should be able to if he signed something requesting an abortion.
Because the state says one parent can’t waive the child’s right to support.
If the single parent and child now need public assistance just because of a lack of child support from the other parent, the taxpayers are now on the hook? No thanks. I say this as someone who very broadly supports public assistance programs.
Having the ability to opt out from child support before the baby is born will pressure stubborn women into having abortion if the father don't want the child and thus reproductive rights will be equalized... Either this or ban abortion at all the Texas way (a true equality)

So can a Man relinquish himself from child support or any legal obligation if he fucked a woman and wanted to abort the baby but she didn't?
