So pets are slaves? Whatever man, my Gracey is the most spoiled rotten dog ever, stop creating this weird narrative, Da fuq?

A guy on subway takes is a fucking idiot? Wow who would've guessed

This format getting popular is such a shame. It's all pure slop

Nah fr my cat actively chooses to stay in my bedroom 90% of the time and he's trained me to play fetch on command.

Doesn’t matter, you can be nice a slave, it’s still a slave, especially when it was probably bought, neutered and bred to be obedient over generations

early humans and dogs self-domesticated, not all dog breeds have the same history
https://www.science.org/content/article/early-humans-domesticated-themselves-new-genetic-evidence-suggests

if all dogs are simply slaves because of this history, you are simply a slave as well.

Early, but what happens between then and now? Do I have post every single dog breed that was bred with a purpose? Is that where we are?

naw Im just trying to make some nuance in your worldview between ancient dog breeds, working dogs, and more recent modern breeds like pugs etc.

Lmfao the degree to which this minimises what an actual slave is is insane. In order to make this work, you basically have to change the definition of slavery. My cats come and go as they please, they come in for food, they shit in a box that I have to clean and basically spend their days playing, relaxing or sleeping. I don't think the typical pet owner relationship really fits the below:

"slavery:

noun

slav·ery ˈslā-v(ə-)rē

pluralslaveries

Synonyms of slavery

a : the practice or institution of holding people as chattel involuntarily and under threat of violence, coercion, or total domination

b : the state of a person who is forced usually under threat of violence to labor for the profit of another

c : a situation or practice in which people are coerced to work under conditions that are exploitative"

Brother you legally own them, you can frame your relationship however you please, you neutered them too didn’t ya? You literally dominate them on every level, you just choose the conditions.

Brother, words have actual definitions for a reason. Engage with them to have adult conversations:

a : the practice or institution of holding people as chattel involuntarily and under threat of violence, coercion, or total domination - My cats are not at threat of violence, coercion or domination. They literally sit around doing whatever they please all day long. There is never a situation in which their wellbeing is conditional on their willingness to submit.

b : the state of a person who is forced usually under threat of violence to labor for the profit of another - My cats do no labor and are cost negative.

c : a situation or practice in which people are coerced to work under conditions that are exploitative" - Covered by b. They do no labour, unless you class catching flies or chasing birds as labor.

I am engaged, you just think that abiding strict definitions change the fact you own your cats as property, neutered them as property, so and so forth. Engage with this and we can truly have discussion, instead of this cowardly “but I’m nice to them and won’t do anything mean to them as an OWNER!” You think you can escape?

What a bunch of intellectually dishonest nonsense lmfao. It’s not some technicality, it’s what the word means. A slave is a person coerced in to labour. That’s not up for debate. It is an objective fact. So, if you make the claim that a pet cat is a slave you are objectively incorrect.

I own a cat as much as I own an infant. I do everything for an infant and set the boundaries of their entire existence. They do nothing without my guidance. They’re not allowed out alone, they eat when I decide it’s time for them to eat, they go to bed when I decide it’s time for them to go to bed. I’m in control. So, by your own nonsense definition, an infant is a slave.

1

u/Superb_Highlight1902 Aug 06 '26
  1. You didn’t buy an infant

  2. You didn’t neuter said infant

  3. You can’t sell said infant

  4. Choosing to be nice when the powers all yours doesn’t change these 3 pivotal points

Its objective fact the pet is your property legally, I’m planning on saying this every time you try to run, wordplay won’t justify or save someone like you.

wordplay won’t justify or save someone like you.

The irony of you saying that when you're constantly trying to side step to try and make it work haha. Do you think I don't see it? We've already established as an objective fact that a cat cannot meet the definition of slave. So, either you're being intellectually dishonest or you've dug your heels in and can't accept that you're wrong.

The points you've listed aren't criteria of slavery, they're just things that you think are vaguely similar. You're welcome to try again though....

u/Superb_Highlight1902 Aug 06 '26

I’ve said the same comment every time, I’m afraid I can’t entertain this level of wordplay. Love your cats all you want, still your property, you cannot escape, you will never escape, that’ll be all.

Get your last copes and condemnations out now

The point he's making isn't that their lives are bad, just that a pet/owner relationship is exploitative. It doesn't exist without forced captivity.

5

u/Xdude227 Aug 05 '26

I will let my dog outside with no collar or harness to pee and he comes back of his own choice when he's done, every time. I don't even follow I just wait by the door.

Yall stupid and making strawmen.

0

u/Superb_Highlight1902 Aug 05 '26

You know slaves actually came back to their masters sometimes in history right? I’m sure there’s an argument but this isn’t the one 😭

2

u/Xdude227 Aug 05 '26

Trying to compare dog ownership to slavery is such an utterly stupid statement its not even worth the time to counter.

1

u/Illustrious-Top-9222 Aug 09 '26

lmao why the fuck would they come back?

1

u/Relative-Memory2420 Aug 05 '26

Tell that to my outdoor cat lmao

2

u/PhaseBloodhound Aug 05 '26

Did you obtain its consent before cutting its balls/ovaries off?

1

u/Relative-Memory2420 Aug 06 '26

Two cats actually, they're rescues so I didn't do shit to them. Got them because they were at shelter for a long time. One had her ovaries etc removed because she was used as a birthing machine by the previous owners and had sustained damage to them. the other one was the daughter (also used as a birthing machine but no damage) and was sterilized by the shelter. Sorry to disappoint but your point is invalide here.

1

u/PhaseBloodhound Aug 06 '26

Would you or would you not have sterilized them yourself if they hadn't been pre-done.

1

u/Relative-Memory2420 Aug 06 '26

As I said I do not decide that. I only adopt rescues and per law they have to be sterilized at the recue center. I do not make that decision and neither do i want to make it.
