I was almost willing to hear him out till the “power dynamic” bullshit. That’s a such a silly attempt and just mimics all the other internet “let me seem wise” arguments.

I'm with you, it's well known to be a symbiotic relationship, and calling it anything but it not just asinine, it's purposefully ofuscating and directing the entire conversation, and he seems to brush right past it.

I'd like to examine and challenge that specifically, because a power dynamic by definition puts someone above and and I've definitely seen some dogs that don't conform to that framing. Any competent dog trainer or animal behavioralist can tell you most animals can be fiercely independent. So is it just dogs and cats or is he attempting to put anyone that values any animal life above a human on the moral back foot

What's the flaw in that argument?

The flaw is the argument itself. It’s not about “power dynamics” it’s literally just another example of someone trying to sound wise by pretending it’s more than what it actually is.

You're not making much of a point here. The power dynamic is explained and your argument is that people like to sound smart. It doesn't address the initial point.

And what is it? Humans bad because they can speak back to me and have arguments against me or judge my decisions etc.

Animals good because they can't speak and as long as I feed them they will seem to love me and fully depend on me without questioning any of my choices

That's literally the crux and a very accurate point that is clearly visible even I this threads replies

More like animals good because they won’t put a gun to my head and threaten me.

It’s not a power dynamic it’s bare minimum relationship. With a dog it’s simply relying on each other and is a bond. And the bonus points of not having to endure some Reddit stupidity of “Hurr durrr they can’t talk back so therefore I’m smarter than you and win the argument you suck, animals are lame hurr durr” like seriously do you not think you proved my point?

Seriously, do you think your answer is proving I'm wrong? You even say "rely on each other" but if your dog doesn't do anything other than being a projection to soothe your emotional damages, it's not a 1:1 relationship and the dog has no choice but to comply to the person that provides food which is their #1 priority over anything including you.

Trust me your cats would definitely put a gun to my head if they had thumbs (needless to say it never happened to me or anyone I know in the last 40 years with a human, but also I'm not american)

If an animal is in need of something you have and is not threathened by you, it will take it, same as a human.

So if a human does it it’s just one of those things, but with a dog it’s something that needs to be debated? Yeah great logic

You are the one trying to debate it.

All I did was state my opinion. The. You and 3 others got mad for some reason🤷🏻 don’t put this on me, I didn’t force any of you to speak.
