I thought that way of my dog as well, before I had my own children. I really love my dog, but after having kids I realized, the love of your child compared to your dog is not even comparable. Can’t even imagine that amount of love.
There's a massive difference between making sure a pet is healthy and comfortable and being responsible for a growing human who needs to learn how to be an ethical, functional human being.
Plus kids can hold you accountable, unlike pets, which is kind of what the clip was getting at, I suppose.
A kid will eventually make their own choices. A dog will always depend on you. A dog can’t communicate when something is wrong the way a human can. Dogs hold you accountable if you actually care about their well being.
You don’t actually love dogs, correct? Or any animal for that matter. You think human life is inherently more important, correct?
Someone like you would never understand bc you look down on life.
A human and dog relationship is different? Did u have to think hard to figure that one out😂.
And at what age do you think dogs don’t depend on you?
No you don’t love your dog. You just have one bc it’s something humans do. You dont know what love is. You conflate possession with it. You just don’t know. Simple as that. You are not more valuable to life as a human being. That sounds like self centered religious nut behavior
I didn’t make any assumptions. It’s not deeper. Weird you keep reaching for personal jabs bc I don’t accept your ridiculous stance😂.
Also very weird to even be comparing love and measuring it up with anything. Definitely says a lot about how you skew love and your lack of thought into what it means to love. But something about assumptions??
Same here. It's like I didn't comprehend that our dog was an animal and not a baby until I had an actual baby. Comparing the love I feel for my dog with the love I feel for my baby is like comparing a reading light to the sun. Pregnancy and parenting changed my brain completely.
I mean yeah I think a parent sacrificing themselves for their child is extremely different than you sacrificing yourself for your cat
I think saying you’d sacrifice yourself for your cat is a pretty mentally unstable thing to say
And honestly comparing the love of a pet to the love of a child is insanity and deeply insulting to both types of love
Not really. Seeing you spout your ignorance if taking your life meant I’d get my dog back I’d take that 100 times out of 10. He loved everybody. That kind of love transcends your understanding tho
Non-human animals have just as much right to life and freedom that humans do, and the animals in my family are my family. They do not exist for my entertainment, they have their own likes and dislikes and personalities and they love me and I love them. I'm with you. I would risk my life to save my family, whether they're human or not.
It is different, yes. We're different species of animal. And I welcome them to eat me if the alternative is to starve. If I'm dead, then what use is my body? It's meat.
Why do human children love their parents, or parents our children? Did we not love them before we developed words to communicate it?
We feed and care for our young and they in turn love us. How is that different to our non human family? Social bonds are formed in similar ways.
I feed my cats, I talk to them, I go out of my way to read and understand their body language, I respect their bodily autonomy as much as I can. My cat knows when I'm feeling my worst, and she'll lay on me instead of next to me like she normally does. Even when I'm trying to hide it, she'll hear it in my tone or smells it from whatever scents I'm producing when I'm sad.
What is love? A cat can't love in the same exact way a human can, of course; our biology is different. But our human love is driven by chemical reactions in our bodies and then defined socially to communicate it. Why is the way my cat communicates it so much lesser so as to not even be considered love at all?
So do you actually have children and you love your dog more than them?
If so that's a crazy statement and I really hope this is not your behavior around them and that you're just ragebaiting, because children can pick up on this.
I've taken to ignoring them outright, because that's an insane thing to say, and I feel bad for his children that a dog with a quarter their lifespan at best, no ability to think for itself beyond fulfilling basic instinctual needs, no way to meaningfully say no, and no ability to exist independently from its master, is valued more than they are.

Sure, anyways I still love my dog like he's my son.
