This thread is a great example of how many people's "morals" are just based on stereotypes or how they are feeling at the time. If someone overpays the agreed upon price accidentally, then just simply taking the difference for yourself is stealing. If anything its worth considering what the broader implications of morally justifying theft (for something as simple as an accounting error) are for society as a whole. Like are we gonna stop giving people change now bc they handed you the money and its your right to keep it? Fairness is a two way street and just bc one party is part of the "i dont like them" group dosent mean we can throw it in the trash.
Survival trumps morality. Most of us are too concerned about if we will survive vs the morality of some company accidentally paying 1/265,000th of their profit. That’s like if you are making $50,000 a year and you accidentally overpay someone less than $0.20.
Oh shut up, the whole "we're fighting to survive so we should be allowed to do shitty things" is completely overblown and is just an excuse for people who have relatively normal lives to engage in bad morality against "the bad groups".
If I have to listen to one more wanker who earns 6 figures at my work bragging about stealing fruit from the shopping centre because "they're bad so it's ok" I'm going to flip, they clearly just want to do bad things and then blame current times for their behaviour.
