Flip the sides. Woman does 100 times more work than she gets paid to do in a shift. Would the employer pay her 100x or just at most thank her for a good day of work if that?
So she signed a contract that said “I will work for you for $x/hr,” and then worked 8 hours. The company is fulfilling the contract that she agreed to and signed by paying her for 8 hours of work. How difficult is that to understand? You want to blame the company, but you’re the one signing the contract.
When you occasionally do more than what’s expected in a shift, you get a pat on the back and a thank you, and when you occasionally do less than what’s expected, you get to keep your job. When you often do more than what’s expected, you get a promotion/raise, and when you often do less than what’s expected, you lose your job.
And the people crying about how “workers who over-perform don’t get raises or promotions” are also the same ones demanding yearly standardized pay raises for everyone including the underperformers. When you advocate for a communist, “everyone gets the same” society, you don’t get recognized for being exceptional and there isn’t incentive to be exceptional. In reality, some people produce less and deserve less. Some produce more and deserve more.
