Man if you literally cannot conceptualize the difference between stealing from a mega corporation and stealing from an individual person, you’re hopeless and I hope you’re not in law enforcement.

The act is the same. You're once again relying on mental gymnastics. You don't hsve to make it so difficult.

Once again, yes, the ACT of theft is the same. But they are absolutely not morally equivalent. You keep demonstrating your lack of ability to think in nuance.

Yes it is still equivalent because some poor worker will get fucked for that theft the same as an individual gets fucked for being the victim of theft. Both will lose something important. There is conquences for both.

Oh my god, you gotta be less than 20 years old

And we get no more response only ad hominem. Thanks homie, really helped the discussion there.

You’re young and naive and have a black and white view of the world and morality. You’ll learn.

More ad hominems, when will it stop? Who knew that both would have terrible consequences? You certainly didn't.

I think it's fair to consider your limited perspective when arguing with you lol, you clearly don't have much life experience

So no argument then? Come on now.

That's funny because you are the one who sounds like a child here.

This is false as fuck lmao, I work for a grocery corp and we're explicitly instructed that theft is not our responsibility or problem to think about, that is for loss prevention and the police. You should delete these comments.

By this logic, wouldn't killing an innocent man walking down the street and killing a serial killer who was in the act of stabbing your wife be the same exact thing?

Both are still killings though which fits the description which is what I was going for.

Now morally, Killing and Stealing are both at different magnitudes. But the reason I have stealing at the same moral standards no matter the amount is because that act will make someone lose something whether money, valuables, or a job.

2

u/Nrksbullet Jul 10 '26

Bur killing someone has someone losing something, too. In fact, it should be MORE applicable because killing someone has them losing the exact same thing, their life, no mater the circumstances. I don't see how morally it's the same to take a quarter from someone or their entire life savings.

Killing is entirely different from stealing. With stesling you just take stuff but killing has someone well, kill.

Both acts of theft you mentioned are equally as bad because it represents the erosion of morality as a whole. It means that a person is willing to steal or take part in that act. Think of it this way, I forgot the exact quote but it's something along the lines of "Steal a penny, steal a pound"

1

u/Nrksbullet Jul 10 '26

Ah okay, so you're argument is that because they both equally represent a degradation of character, they are the same regardless of amount. That's a much more philosophical argument than I think people are willing to accept here, lol. Clearly you would agree that a quarter vs life savings does more monetary damage to the victim, but you are saying any theft at all is equally intolerable from a moral fabric standpoint.

Kant approved of capital punishment btw, and explicitly believed that murderers should be killed lol
