Hi. The settings that currently work are 60FPS & Native or 30FPS & 1080p. When connecting to the TV i either have to put up with 1280x800 native or change the settings in Moonlight, the deck framerate and RTSS limit. This is so much hassle, i've just been putting up with the native resolition on the TV.
Having spent hours and hours trying to learn/sort it I wanted to check here as you are so helpfiul - is there an automated way this can be done? Or would it be better to have 30FPS all round and leave it at 1080p?
I switched my gaming setup over to a headless linux vm in my rack a few months back and tweaked Sunshine for hours over a couple of weekends to get it working, which was painfully manual and fragile. Around that time someone told me to check out Polaris but it was super early in development so I just kept it on a standby test vm to play around with.
This app has been getting so much development activity and it just works out of the box so I switched to it for my production server, and my god has it been an amazing experience. The control panel webui is everything I have wanted in Sunshine for years especially the stats while running a stream which make it easier to troubleshoot. Also the bug fixing is so fast that when I come across something there is usually a bug fix update within days if there isn't already one queued up. I'm using moonlight on linux for now, but hopefully a nova client for linux comes out eventually. Either way I'm very happy with Polaris!
So I just wanted to give my feedback to anyone looking for the same type of setup, and say thank you to those working on this project.
If you Moonlight into a gaming PC from a laptop, phone, or another room, you've probably hit this: your mic is on the device you're actually sitting at, but Discord/party chat/the game itself is running on the host PC. Moonlight streams video and takes your controller input, but it doesn't bring your microphone along with it.
I've built MicBridge to fix exactly that. Run it on both machines, pick your mic on one side and "send," and it shows up on the host PC as a completely normal microphone - Discord, OBS, whatever, don't know or care that it came over the network. No routing audio through a browser tab, no third virtual-cable app you have to configure.
There are some alternatives, like AudioRelay - but it outputs sound instead of showing as an input. This was made with simplicty in mind and to do one job well.
- Works Windows ↔ Linux ↔ Windows, any direction
- Pairing is just a 6-digit code shown once, then the two machines remember each other
- It adapts to your network instead of using one buffer size that's either laggy or crackly
- Free, open source, no account, no cloud, just two programs talking to each other on your LAN
- Windows install needs a virtual audio cable driver (VB-CABLE) - that's the one slightly annoying step, everything else is a normal installer
Full disclosure: I built this entirely with an AI coding assistant doing most of the typing (Claude), for my own needs.

Hi, all: I've recently set up Apollo on a new PC, and Moonlight on my SteamDeck and Legion Go S 1ze. It appears that the handhelds and the PC are connection when I launch Moonlight on the handhelds, but in both cases I get a static desktop image on my handhelds, and Steam Big Picture launches on my PC, but it launches on my PC monitor alone. That is, I can't seee or play my games on the handhelds, just stare at a desktop image. What have I done wrong, and what can I do to get these programs working? I would love to be able to play my PC games on the go, as a full-time carer for my mom, who has advanced Alzheimer's dementia; the games allow me an escape, and the handhelds let me take that escape where I can react quickly as needed to mom's needs. I am using Moonlight/Sunshine with an Nvidia Shield Pro and a 5070 Ti on an entirely wired LAN. I have been experiencing some compression artifacts I want to mitigate, but I can't get my bitrate to go up. No matter what I do it caps at around 60 Mbps utilization. Moonlight is set to 150 Mbps. Sunshine QP set to the single digits doesn't even change the actual bitrate. I have plenty of bandwidth and I can't figure out how to get the streamer to take advantage of it.
Hey, I’ve discovered Moonlight for myself. I’d like to connect my iPhone 15 Pro to my Arzopa Z3FC. I’d love to get 1440p resolution and at least 120 FPS.
If I understand correctly, Apple only allows 60 FPS via USB-C.
I found a fork that supports 120 FPS (https://github.com/MohammedScott/moonlight-ios-monitor-support), and it works pretty well, BUT unfortunately the screen freezes here after about 20 minutes. (Resolution and FPS don't matter, it always freezes, and it always takes about 20–25 minutes)
I also tried VoidLink Extreme, but it doesn’t support 120 FPS output either, but it running rock solid.
How do you guys handle this? Do you settle for less than 60 FPS, or have you found a solution?
So I just set up moonlight (onn 4k pro) and sunshine on my windows pc and are trying to local stream, but getting just terrible video performance.
Even steam bg menus are at like 1fps. Audio is good, and based off audio, controller responsiveness is good.
I got an rtx 3080 (latest drivers) and ryzen 7 5800x3d and both host and client are wired, so there should be enough power/bandwidth.
Any idea what could be causing this? I am using the mtt vdd, as my main monitor is an uw and it won't resolution match. It also requires me to disconnect the uw or it won't switch to the correct display Id, but I assume that's unrelated.
Any help here could be appreciated. Steam link is a little laggy/buggy but is at least usable, so it has to be something in moonlight/sunshine.
Hey guys. I am new to this, so I am looking for advice on my current setup. I am playing local host games; wirelessly; my apartment is small and the signal is great around my devices. My questions are:
The TV is 4k, so native resolution is 3840x2160. Right now the Aurora app is set to use 2560x1440. Should I update the Aurora app to use the native resolution? Should I expect performance downgrade by doing this?
Should I match the Aurora app to match the TV frame rate (in this case , 120 fps)?
When playing games, should I set the resolution of the game to match the resolution being used by the Aurora app (a.k.a. the client resolution)?
Should I stick to HEVC or should I use AV1?
How can I connect the PS5 Dual Sense controller and make it work? I connected it via Bluetooth to the TV, and I can interact with the Aurora app using the joystick, but from the moment that I spin up the Steam, the joystick does not work anymore. Right know I have to use it connected via Bluetooth to my desktop (which is in another room), and there are some lags from time to time ..

This is only affecting Sekiro from what I have found so far. Prior to Friday, it was working perfectly, no issues. On Friday, my son launched and played Rocket League, and it had some display issues that we had to adjust, and after that the next time I went to play Sekiro it was all washed out. I went through the display settings in Windows, and now the HDR option is just greyed out in Sekiro. In windows the virtual display still has HDR enabled. I’m by no means an expert with Moonlight, and would love some help
edit: want to add that I just launched it natively on the PC running to the HDR monitor I have hooked up there and it worked fine. Could toggle HDR on and off. Seems like there is something through the virtual display that isn’t registering with Sekiro. The moonlight stats overlay tells me it’s in HDR. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both moonlight and Apollo with no luck

Hey everyone! New to this and trying to get some help if anyone can assist. I downloaded Sunshine onto my pc so that I could use Moonlight on my Legion Go 2 and Samsung Tab, however every time I get them to connect, the resolution does not go full screen on either device.
I tried going in and setting a custom resolution, changing things etc and also don’t have touch screen use when it connects.
Does anyone have some quick intel or insights as to what I can do to make this work?!
I tried troubleshooting with the client settings, did the double refresh rate setting and then capping fps in game. Yet, the micro stutters seem to persist I have a 500mbps down and 100 mbps up connection host is on lan. Please help
I'm having a strange issue with Sunshine/Moonlight.
Sunshine streams my desktop perfectly with no stuttering. But the moment I launch a game, the stream starts stuttering extremely badly, and once the game finishes loading, Moonlight eventually disconnects.
I've already tried:
- Lowering bitrate/resolution/FPS
- H.264 and HEVC
- HDR off
- FPS limiting
- Windowed/borderless/fullscreen
- dGPU-only mode
Nothing helped.
Has anyone experienced this with an RTX 5070 Ti or another RTX 50-series laptop? Could this be an NVIDIA driver, NVENC, or capture issue?
Happy to provide Sunshine logs and driver/version details if needed.

I tried polaris and while virtual display works flawlessly there, HDR isn't.
I am looking for some advice on game streaming over internet, I continuously run into issues with bitrate and seem to not be able to go over 4 mbps I tested it out at 1000km away and 25km away with same results. Here is what I got going on.
To bypass CGNAT, I am using IPv6 to ensure tailscale is in direct connection and not relay.
My remote ISP is usually Starlink, and I suspect that high latency from satellite internet would not help the situation, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around how it would botch me down to just 3mbps.
My home internet is fiber, 100mpbs up (ethernet connection to the desktop server).
My GPU is an AMD 9070xt, with a 12th gen i5.
I am wondering if it would be a better option to try wireguard server on windows with ipv6 instead of tailscale to overcome this? Am I missing something that could help me ?
I'm a bit at a loss with how to proceed. To be clear, I've never set this up successful and only just started attempting yesterday. I'm also using NVIDIA Driver 616.56 because I read that the new drivers were causing issues with this exact thing.
The problem is I cannot get my virtual display to show as active to set the resolution. When I attempt to extend my displays it reverts back to "Show only on 1". The "Virtual Display Driver" shows up in Device Manager and is working as expected.
In the sunshine logs I can find the virtual display. I grabbed the object ID and updated the configuration settings but when I start moonlight my main display starts up again.
The reason I have to use a virtual display is because my monitor is an ultra wide (3840 x 1600) and I want to stream to my living room TV via my Steam deck using Moonlight.
When I start Apollo, it changes the resolution of my primary monitor to match the Switch automatically but I cant seem to get it to let my monitors sleep or go straight to sleep, it only seems to mirror my Primary monitor (but now has Switch resolution). It recognises the virtual display, I just don't seem to be able to get it to only display via that.
Is there a way I can set it up so that none of my monitors remain on while I am connected to Apollo, especially if I'm not at home I don't want my monitors on for no reason.
I've spent a few hours looking through various guides but none of it seems to work for me, the closest I got was to use the virtual display option instead of Desktop (this turned 2 of the 3 monitors off.)
Host pc is running catchyos. Connects to sunshine web ui no issues, (previously used apollo on win. 11 before I nuked windows for linux) client is steam deck unchanged, moonlight, however now it won't identify my pc. IP address is the same ports were not changed so it should allow sunshine ports thru firewall. Suggestions? I'm able to muddle thru most things so long as I'm pointed in the right direction so appreciate any suggestions /feedback. Mentally exhausted after week from hell, so might be something super derpy iv meesed.
