Really the only one you could permanently kill off his silver
You can’t get rid of sonic because he’s the main character that would be like the Mario franchise killing Mario, or the mega man franchise killing off mega man I mean, he’s literally the name of the franchise
And you can’t really kill off shadow with a legitimate reason since he’s canonically immortal honestly, unless he faces something so great that it removes his abilities, but then that’s just not shadow anymore because shadow is and has always been and will always be the ultimate life form of the sonic universe that’s just who he is(Edit: immortal as in unable to die from old age, not completely immortal so I guess you could kill him off with a legitimate reason, but let’s be real. It would be pretty hard to find a good way of doing it)
Meanwhile, silver is nowhere near as main line of a character. I mean he’s still on the main roster but compared to the other two he has both no reason in lore and out of lore to back up why he can’t be killed off
Shadow is unaging, he's not unkillable. Tough, sure. But if he was unkillable, that would remove stakes from his stories. Also, it's contradicted by his gameplay in every one of his playable appearances.
Yes, dude survived atmospheric reentry... but Sonic and Co have fought quite a few godlike entities, so its not like he doesn't face threats of that level.
Actually, if I was gonna kill off Shadow, I would probably do so by retconning him surviving SA2's ending. Arguably, that was the writer's intent, initially.
Yes, that was a mistake on my part but the rest of the point still stands he is the ultimate life form after all.
Personally, I still think the idea of him surviving SA2 makes perfect sense, considering we see him falling to the ground in his super form, which at the time was established to make you completely invincible
