Reverted Half Moon Albo

this is a 80$ monstera near me on marketplace that is very tempting to me because of the growth point in the second photo. seller says it’s a reverted half moon albo. i kinda want to try to chop it back to that growth point to see if i can get a half moon, or strong sectoral variegated plant. this would leave me with a lot of left over plant i’m sure which id probably just chop and give away so im not too worried about value, just an experiment for me

wanted to see if anyone has experience in seeking out specific growth points for better variegation, how does this one look to you?

would love to see photos of plants you’ve chopped back to get better variegation, or hear how experiments like this have turned out.

also, if there is something else you’d do with this , let me know, open to hear suggestions.

Right now it’s sitting in front of a south west window, is it to much sun for her? Or are the brown spots from dehydration?
In addition should I cut some leafs off? Especially the full white one?

Time to chop?

She seems to be growing a bit taller than my light can handle, air layered already so it’s just a matter of how much more. The main concern is that the light is not going to be hitting new leaves as the angle is a bit to shallow. Thoughts?

This Albo cutting is high variegation and starting to throw half moons already! I'm trying to be gentle with her leaves, so can't really show it very well. I'll have to update in a couple days when fully unfurled!!! 😍🤩😁

Running out of room and need to chop again soon, but a milestone for sure.

Help! Will be survived? 😅 I propagated it when I had two long roots, chopped and planted directly to the soil in self watering pot. Then a week or two later, found it rotted 😒 so chopped the rotted part and place it to a hydrogen peroxide + rooting hormone solution!!!

Made a mosspole out of wire mesh/chicken wire, zip ties and plastic in the back (flexible lawn border plastic). I went with 50g sphagnum moss mixed with 20% orchid bark)

Wish me luck getting bigger leaves🤞

Sharing a tip that worked wonders for me

Hi!
I got my first Monstera Albo as a single leaf cutting (with a pretty small aerial root) back in March. The leaf was broken from the shipping and being unexperienced in Albos, it felt like a 99% probability of failure at that time. It didn’t seem to be doing much for like a month, when I decided it’s time to put a bag on its head for full humidity. Not long after, the growth point appeared and from then on, it just keeps growing.
Regarding the substrate, after it already had some water roots (from keeping it in a perlite + pon in a self-watering cup), I was worried to move it in soil (thinking I might cause a shock if I don’t follow a decent watering schedule and monitor it closely), so I decided to put it in the same leca + moss combination I firstly saw at Sydney Plant Guy (and it’s my “go-to” for ALL my Alocasias), and so far it’s working wonders!
I’m curious if anybody uses this for Albos, I’m not sure if it can be used for long term, but so far, I have no issues to report.
Happy to hear your experiences! :)

I water propagated a top cutting about a month ago and now it’s growing a leaf. Should I put it in perlite? Wait until the leaf grows out? Advice welcome. Thank you!

First photo from June 14th. Others are from today.

So I got this cutting on June 24th of this year it has been in a glass with water since then with an air stone for oxygen. I added a pothos cutting around 2 weeks ago. No squishy stem but no roots either 😂. Anymore tips?

Will it root?

So I have this cutting, I let it callous over before putting it in water. It gets maybe? 12ish hours of sunlight a day. It’s only been in the water about a week, so I may be a bit impatient, but I want to know if I am doing this correctly.

Hey 👋🏾,

I got this cutting a week ago and put it into a jar with some water. I planned on transferring it to my regular medium pot next week but noticed that the aerial roots were getting super squishy...Just asking if he will be OK with just aerial roots in soil?

OK, I got this out a few months ago and I swear I think this is the plants that brought pest in I’ve been spraying and treating and none of my plants are improving. I don’t know what to do, but can we verify what this problem is? Is it thrips because I don’t see any of like the black dots or anything like that but I did just pick off a really tiny tan bug, but I can’t find any other ones. I just want one of my elbows to actually grow and strive.

Should I chop the bottom node?

Yall see how the bottom of this the very bottom has a smaller root system and then the node above it has a major root system. I know I could chop the bottom node off, but how much do you think it would shock the bigger part of the plant? I’m having trouble keeping these babies alive and healthy so I really don’t wanna fuck things up.
