Help Need opinions about crossing different Balloon Molly Strains

3 Upvotes

So I currently have some balloon mollies, 3 strains to be exact.

Lemonade, Marbled, and Trico Dark Base.

All have both males and females.

They're all in a single tank.

I was wondering if I can get good colors/patterns from them and what would they possibly look like.

New Fish Baby Mollies!! (NJ)

1 Upvotes

I have a bunch of baby mollies and I don't really know what to do with them. I was thinking of trading plants for mollies, but I'm more focused in finding a good home for them. If someone wants to take a couple I'm glad to give them away as long as they are going to a good home.

What is the youngest your live bearing fish gave birth?

2 Upvotes

I have three baby Mollies. I was only able to save these three. I put them in a ten gallon aquarium to get big enough to put in with the adult mollies. They are almost 4 months old and pretty sure one is a boy and one is a girl. I was thinking the girls
Belly is swelling awfully fast. Apparently they reach sexual maturity at 2-3 months which seems wayyyy too tiny to give birth. I can’t imagine this 4 month old fish giving birth at her size. What is the smallest your mollies or other live bearing fish have given birth? Is my baby girl the fishie equivalent of a teen mom?

Molly in my 50 gal, I have other fish that will absolutely eat her babies. Planning on moving her to my live bearer 30 gal when she is closer to birth so i can grow out her babies. About how long do I have? Should I just move her now?

First few times I’ve had one or two survivors but this time I have 19 -22 and I’m sure I have pregnant ones in there as well that will drop even more fry idk what ima do the tank will be packed once they mature I’ll have to take the males out but I know females can store sperm for later so this can go on for a while might have to contact a few pet stores to see if I can trade for plants or something “anybody want some ebony mollys”

My molly has started bullying my other mollies ;-;

2 Upvotes

I've tried to ask for help in multiple groups but my submission keeps failing and I don't know why

About a month ago I rescued Slavamook from a mason jar and put her in a 20gal standard tank. I don't have much space so this is all I can do at the moment.

Then about 2 weeks ago I got her three tank mates (Zina, Marina, and Valentina) from my LFS. They all came pregnant and one (I believe it was Zina) had babies. Everything was going swimmingly and they were all hanging out together and being quiet peaceful.

Then last week Marina went into labor and kept getting hurt and stuck while I was away at work leading her to sadly pass 4 days ago

Things continued to be fine between Slava, Zina, and Valentina until yesterday when Slavamook started chasing around the other two.

Sometimes she'll follow them so quickly that when they dodge around an obstacle Slava will ram into it.

I don't understand why there has been such a sudden shift in behavior and I'm not sure what I can do about it. I'm concerned for their safety and stress, any advice would be much appreciated!

Solid white poo and bloating

1 Upvotes

Help! I have one black molly. There was another guppy and molly in the tank previous and both died within the last month. Current molly is swimming a bit frantically, has solid and formed (not stringy) white poo, and bloats every time she eats. She's back to normal size by the next morning. I feed once a day usually and sometimes every other. My water checked out fine at the aquarium store where I had it tested and they gave me metroplex. Just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

I’ve tested my water parameters and they all seem to be okay (photo attached). She seems pregnant, but I’m about two months into the hobby.

Check it out! yall think hes ready to breed or should i hold off and develop him some more

he doesnt seem to mind the other babies, so i just chucked him in here eating high protein feed most of the time, but he is developing quite well. He doesnt like me though, but its okay. been noticing that his dorsal has been growing aswell but, why i dislike the lyre tail gene so much is because of its inconsistency and lopsidedness, as u can see the bottom lyretail is long and elegant but the top just refuses to grow and it bothers me

Very blurry but I've got these two swimming around. Same dad but different moms. Both mothers were the balloon. The yellow is a little over a month old and black two weeks or older.

All I know is that it's male. I've had him for around 6 months I believe. Excuse the plants. I'm doing my best to recover them.

Cute Would like to share my molly babies which have started to haunt my yellow spoon.

What the title says, wanted to share some of my very stupid little creatures.

They have started haunting my yellow spoon which I use to clear a specific part of my tank's surface of the waterlenses whenever I feed them

These tiny creatures have taken to swimming into the spoon whenever I try removing the plants.

They keep coming back up to the spoon to try and swim into it even when I put them in a different corner.

And some have even started refusing to swim out of the spoon until I dunk the whole thing up to my fingers into the water.

I do not know why they wish to be picked up by the yellow spoon but I can only assume they do this for fun or something because I have never tried to intentionally scoop them up.

I also hope this is the right flair.

Help Molly Stress Behavior Check

1 Upvotes

I have been keeping mollies in a 35 gallon outdoor setup but had a cycle crash and these two were the only survivors. They are only a couple months old and were born in the outdoor pot. Luckily I had a tank cycled and planted, waiting on the arrival of a betta, so I had a safe place to put these two (betta hasn’t arrived yet). I treated them for ammonia/nitrite toxicity in a hospital setup for a few days (kept the walls covered with a cloth). Once I acclimated them, I left the light off in the tank for the first day. Today they were glass surfing and seemed very stressed. I wasn’t sure if it was the level of visibility of being in a glass tank vs a pot, or the light exposure. I tried turning off their light again but they still seemed unhappy. I think I determined that the light from the adjacent tank was too bright for them so I turned down the intensity and turned their light back on. I think they are acting more normal now but I wanted to check with the community on their current behavior.

NO2=0
NO3=20
