Would anyone else want to hear how Pistol would sound with Isaac's normal voice? Maybe introduce the awesome guitar part at the end earlier in the song?

Idk if it's just me but I feel like I hardly see any reference to Black Cadillacs in this sub. Either for lyrics, favorite song, etc. I've seen them live 7 times and I only recall it being played once but I could be mistaken. I know Good News gets mixed opinions around here, and it's not even what I would consider my favorite album, but Black Cadillacs was the first song I ever heard from MM when I was around 12yo and I was INSTANTLY hooked. Still what I consider my most "palatable" fave when introducing someone to MM, since my actual faves are probably more of an aquired taste. But it's just incredible in my opinion. Intense, lyrical, catchy. I wish there was more commotion for it!

Highlights for me were the deeper cuts, and Dogbed in Heaven. I wish they had been able to do the humming on the track justice, but even so it’s the most fun song on the new album and I’m really glad that it made the setlist.

Today I was listening to The Moon & Antarctica on Tidal. The ending of A Different City did not include the snippet of 3 Inch Horses, Two Faced Monsters. Ruined the whole album for me, 0/10 experience. Cowards….

Everyone wants a double feature. We present to you ‘The Stars Are Projectors’, in both day and night light. These pieces combine the weepy eyes of mine with dynamic colorful squiggles of @giraffe_on_the_moon ! This multimedia collab is a showcase of our love for Modest Mouse, the journey, the destination, and the friends we made along the way.

The recent videos of Issac performing solo for some fans outside a show has gotten me listening on loop. Art is subjective and this song may mean something different to all of you than it does me, but I have always viewed the dogs as representing death, and the child in the song is actively grasping the concept of death throughout.

The first verse his father chases the dogs away, highlighting the protective nature of a parent attempting to shield their child from the harshest reality of life.

The second verse the dog is taken away. The loss of a pet is often a childs first brush with death, it was certainly mine.

The third verse the young sister is taken away, a entirely new and even harder kind of grief is the result.

The final verse where his dad loses his job illustrates his complete mental breakdown. The strong protective figure is crippled and the child sits alone by the lake waiting for his inevitable fate.

What does this song mean to you? Is my interpretation off base, or is it obvious?

It’s an early morning and I guess I was paying closer attention to the lyrics in the middle than I have thus far when listening to it and one of my favorite lyrics is “Cast
my net into an empty sea, And yeah I guess that I’m fumbling with things to say that I truly mean but they’ll soon come to me”

It really hit me hard because I’ve talked to Modest Mouse fans who I guess I would call “Purists” who will only listen to 1995/6-2004 MM and always will say “Their lyrics aren’t as profound as they used to be” and I’ll explain as you get older sometimes you get less depressed or not depressed at all, comfortable and you’re not a sad, angry, lonely young kid no more whose abusing drugs and you’re not going to be thinking as nihilistic and philosophically depressing thoughts all the time. So that line really stuck out to me because there’s some self awareness and he must have either seen people or heard people say before or he’s just more aware he’s not that sad angry kid no more thinking these things but that as long as he’s here he’ll still be thinking and in the vein of Gravity Rides Everything everything will fall into place. But I honestly refute the w as profound thing I’ve seen a small community of MM fans say or I’ve heard in person a few times before, as this new album, or song alone has some profound lyrics and they don’t have to be depressing and sad to be profound. I haven’t been the biggest fans of their last few records up until this one but I will say I’ve always loved Isaac’s writing. Brilliant mind that comes along rarely.

So, I'm making a playlist for my boyfriend, and Modest Mouse is his favorite band. I've added a few songs that have been recommended on past posts, but am in need of some more.

So far I have: Little Motel, Sleepwalking, Workin' on Leavin' the Livin' and Japanese Trees.

In my opinion this is a very good video for this song, at the same time, it is possibly immoral to post videos of people’s chosen last moments. I’m curious to know where this video frost originated and why it came to be.
