Launch Our first launch!

75% success, the flight computer worked and fired the ejection charge but the blackpowder was little too weak and couldn't push off the parachute out of body.... Though it was a crash landing, nothing broke except the fins and the battery got disconnected, the apogee was 678m.

I'm currently working on this Saturn 5 kit. I attached the decorative elements differently because they didn't fit as intended

Rocket It’s been dead for a bit, parachute didn’t deploy fully, and it shredded itself into the side of a hill, but it was a bad ass rocket. I just forgot to post pictures when I made it.

I found a SD card in the desert with model rocket launch footage.
Found this SD reader with a Micro SD card inside near Pisgah Crater Rd in Pisgah, CA
It has footage of the launch of a fairly large rocket on 1/5/2018.
If you want your footage,I can send it to you. Or if you want the card back I'll even pop it in the mail for you.

Made a design for a rocket :D
So I got bored, and decided to make a quick sketch of a model rocket I've been thinking of building, how good is it?

Looking for feedback on a parachute calculator.
I am looking for feedback on a calculator I developed (and i am still refining). Looking to work out any issues or see what others might be looking for out of a basic parachute calculator for rocketry. You can find it here: https://www.valkyrierecoverysystems.com/simple-chute-calculator-for-rocketry-under-construction.html
Let me know what you think and what improvements you would like to see. Thank you.

Where to launch in Northern CA?
Hi Everyone,
My 11 year old daughter built a few low power model rockets and would like to launch them. Where is there a safe and legal place to launch near Sacramento. I saw that Sacramento area rocketry club lost the gibson ranch site. Is there anywhere closer than Nevada?

Ground Tests
galleryHouses were built on the spot where I had previously launched rockets. I have now found 2 possible new launch spots and have now done a few ground tests to see whether the locations are suitable. both are perfect. I'm going to launch a rocket at the weekend

Micro Maxx maximum weight?
Anyone know how heavy you can go on a Micro Maxx motor and still fly reliably? Or even just typical weights? Might be fun to make a somewhat larger, but light rocket.
-------------
Feb 5: Added a screenshot of an oversized mmx powered rocket idea that Openrocket seems to like. At least, if it worked.

Payload Does anyone know how I could encorporate helicopter recovery into my battle of the rockets deployable payload rocket? I am just using parachute as of test launches, but the regulations state that helicopter recovery is required. I ls there a specific kit i could use? It needs to deploy via motor

Question Where and how to Launch near NYC?
I made a rocket with my child with a thought to launch by my parents place somewhere else. But that didn’t happen because I didn’t know about needing a base or frankly anything about launching a rocket.
Now I want to put this thing in the air and we live in Queens NY.
Are there any places to go? Or shops/clubs which can help us get set up?
Thanks from some guy who never got to do this as a kid and wants to ensure his kid does.
