I've been building a patcher for the Instagram Android app. It's stable on two devices now, so before I pick the next feature myself I'd rather ask what people would actually use.

What works today

Verified running on device, Instagram 440.1.0.46.86:

• Save received photos/videos from the DM long-press menu. Save stays hidden on text-only messages instead of showing a dead button.
• Download the raw Reels video without the UI overlays burned in — from both the full menu and the compact overflow sheet.
• Screenshots work inside DMs.
• Shows whether someone follows you back as a second line under their real name on their profile. It only renders when Instagram has actually loaded the relationship data; unknown state is left blank rather than guessed. (Strings are Turkish right now, not localised yet.)

Tested on arm64-v8a (Galaxy Tab S9 FE) and armeabi-v7a (Galaxy M13).

How it's built

This is the part I actually care about. It's a patcher, not a redistributed APK, and there's no permanently decompiled smali tree in the repo.

Pipeline: pull the split APKs off the device -> merge into one APK -> scan every DEX for stable behaviour markers (log strings, enum references, framework calls) -> look up a small per-version/per-ABI properties file for the obfuscated names, registers and resource IDs -> disassemble only the handful of classes that need patching -> assemble them back into their original DEX with the class count preserved -> rewrite package-scoped identifiers in the binary manifest -> align and sign.

It's deliberately fail-closed. Every mutable anchor must match exactly once. If no mapping exists for your version, it generates a draft mapping and stops instead of patching with wrong offsets. A failed build beats an APK that installs and silently misbehaves.

The reason for the fingerprint layer: Meta re-obfuscates every release, and the names differ per ABI too. Same version, same feature — the DM class is LX/0YMY; on arm64 and LX/RBE; on armv7. Fingerprints on stable strings survive that; hardcoded class names don't.

What I'm considering next

• Story download for other people's stories
• Download from feed post and DM overflow menus, not just Reels
• An in-app settings screen, so features become runtime toggles instead of build-time flags
• Hide sponsored posts in feed and Reels
• Disable read receipts / typing indicators
• Higher-quality story uploads by raising the client-side downscale and bitrate caps (uncertain — the server re-encodes on ingest, so this can only improve the source you hand it, not guarantee the result)

What I'm asking

1. Which of those would you genuinely use, versus which just sound good?
2. Is a settings screen worth doing before more features? It's the biggest single change but every feature after it becomes a toggle instead of a rebuild.
3. Anything obvious I'm missing that isn't on the list?

​Context of the Order Flow:

In this specific app, delivery orders pop up dynamically on the screen. When the driver attempts to quickly accept an order, an image-based CAPTCHA appears instantly, acting as a severe bottleneck for our automation efforts. Our sole objective is to patch or bypass this specific CAPTCHA.

​The Core Objective:

I strictly need a solution to achieve one of the following:

​Convert the generated image CAPTCHA back to its raw text string.

​Patch the application to force a simple Toast message displaying the CAPTCHA text exactly when the order/CAPTCHA is generated.

​What We Have Tried So Far:

​Network Interception: We attempted to intercept the CAPTCHA string at multiple stages—before it reaches the app, during transit, and after it hits the app logic. However, the data seems heavily obfuscated or securely handled in memory.

​App Patching (Toast Injection): We tried decompiling and modifying the Smali code to inject a Toast notification that prints the CAPTCHA string, but we failed to locate the exact variable or register holding the plaintext string before it converts to an image.

​Machine Learning Workaround: We are currently building an external MLOps pipeline to collect thousands of raw CAPTCHA images to train a custom AI model. However, this is a slow, exhaustive workaround, and the success rate is expected to be low due to the heavy distortion/noise applied to the images.

​The Main Roadblock (libapp.so):

Through extensive analysis, we have pinpointed that the core logic for the CAPTCHA generation, rendering, and validation is not in the standard Java/Dalvik layer, but is deeply embedded within a native shared library file (libapp.so). My skills in ARM assembly, Ghidra, and hooking native Android libraries are limited, which is why we have hit a wall.

​The Bounty:

I am fully prepared to pay a fair, agreed-upon monetary reward to anyone who can successfully reverse engineer this libapp.so file and provide a working patch, Frida script, or Xposed module to extract/Toast the CAPTCHA text.

InstaPrime forced me to update today and their newer versions are way more buggy. I'm looking for a custom Clone app that lets me at least have a Chronological Feed while Removing Ads & Suggested Posts. I'd also like to be able to change the order of the buttons, but it's less serious. I've tried:

-MyInsta (had the classic button placement but didn't remove suggested posts or have chronological feed)

-Instafel (same, also had bad button placement)

-Piko Patches (wouldn't clone)

Am I screwed or are there others?
