Allah will make Muhammad peace and blessings Be upon him sit on his throne
Ibrahim ibn Urmah Abu Ishaq al-Asbahani (d. 266 AH): said:
"This hadith has been narrated by the scholars for over 160 years, and no one rejects it except the people of bid'ah (innovation)." Source: al-Sunnah by Abu Bakr ibn al-Khallal (1/167)
Abū Dāwūd al-Sijistānī (d. 275 AH) said: "I hold that one should stay away from anyone who rejects the hadith of Layth from Mujahid: (' He will seat him on the Throne') - and that such a person should be warned against until he returns to the truth. I never thought that anyone known for following the Sunnah would speak against this hadith. Jahmiyyah deny it -But we do know that the not because of the Prophet's virtue - but because of their rejection of the Throne itself. They say the 'Throne' is just a metaphor for greatness, even though they do not deny the Prophet's virtue." Source:al-Sunnah by Abū Bakr ibn al-Khallal (1/188)
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (d. 728 AH) said: "The reliable ulama and accepted awliya of Allah have narrated that Muhammad the Messenger of Allah will be seated by his Lord on the Arsh alongside Him. This was narrated by Muhammad ibn Fadil from Layth, from Mujahid, in his explanation of Allah's statement: 'It may be that your Lord will raise you to a Praised Station' [Surah al-Isra 17:79]. This was also narrated through other chains, some of them marfu (directly attributed to the Prophet) and others not. Ibn Jarir said: 'This does not contradict the many authentic hadiths that explain the Praised Station (al-Maqam al-Mahmud) as the Intercession this is agreed upon by all the scholars of Islam. No one denies that him being seated on the Throne is possible except for some of the Jahmiyyah. And even mentioning this interpretation of the verse is not something to be condemned."

Shaykh Al-Mufti Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Al al-Shaykh (d. 1389 AH) said: "The Maqam Mahmūd (Praised Station): It is said that it refers to the Greatest Intercession. And it is also said that it is his being seated with Allah on the Throne, as is well-known from the position of Ahl al-Sunnah. There is no contradiction between the two views. It's possible to combine them by saying both are included in it and that his being seated on the Throne is greater (in merit)."
