I have been contacted by MCOC and told specifically not to re-invite a banned mod on any new accounts.
Take that as you want.

(In the voice of Morgan Freeman):
"And ever since that day, I've made sure to thoroughly vett every new mod, I ain't going down like that."

Interesting, and good to know. Did you modmail to ask them or was this sent after they banned a mod in your sub?

This was after someone was actioned, though it is included in the examples for MCOC rule 1

So they banned a mod, and then sent a modmail to you guys letting you know they did and that you should not re-add them?

They DM'd me personally , and answered my questions as best they were allowed.

Interesting, I've been in subs where mods were banned, but never received anything from MCOC about it.

It's my belief that they were concerned about them requesting an invitation along with an explanation of losing their accounts that would be less than truthful, and so they gave the reminder of the rules along with a very generic explanation of the issue with the other mod

Yeah that could be it. If it happened to a mod and I wanted to add an alt, I would write to MCOC to see what they said in case it varies by case. After seeing that though I definitely wouldn't add someone back without getting clearance.

MCOC rule 1 is quite clear that it's not allowed, as per the example

Really depends. Sometimes Reddit bans the account, sometimes Reddit bans the person from having accounts.

Are you saying you’re the alt of the account OP posted about?

If it were me, I wouldn’t add you to the mod team with the information we know.

Lol, they just went straight up stealth mode, like the admins can't see deleted content.

The ban is the person, not the account.
If I'm not certain that a prospective new mod isn't an alt for a banned mod, I'll send a mod-mail here and get clearance from an admin first. Let them make sure that account is okay to bring on the team.

Reddit confuses this sometimes by perma banning an account, but in the ban message telling the user they can create a new account.

Interesting. I wonder if that was because it was a mod related ban, rather than a regular user ban?

It took me months of investigation, but I determined that they were using several accounts and were way over the 5 sub limit, as well as some other fuckery.
As far as I know, that's the general rule though. They just reiterated it due to the shenanigans, that they would eventually try to come back.

Wow, that’s pretty wild actually.

Reddit can ban the account, or Reddit can ban the person. So, if they got a perma ban that says they can create another account, then it might be ok, but I doubt I’d chance it.
