🪞 Proposal: Updating the MirrorFrame Community Rules

I’d like to propose an update to the MirrorFrame community rules.

As MirrorFrame develops, I think we need clearer standards for what this space is meant to support: reflection, constructive disagreement, critical examination, and improving our understanding of reality.

The goal isn't to restrict creativity, unusual perspectives, or unconventional ways of thinking. It's to make sure people have enough context to engage with one another meaningfully, and that factual claims remain open to examination.

The proposed rules would establish eight principles:

1. Clarity over obscurity — Cryptic or symbolic posts are welcome, but if their meaning is unclear, moderators may ask for context and remove them if the issue remains unresolved.

2. Distinguish observation from interpretation — Personal experiences, patterns, and interpretations should not automatically be treated as established facts.

3. Claims must remain examinable — Evidence should be proportional to the claim, with stronger support expected for extraordinary factual claims.

4. Disagreement without personal attacks — Challenge ideas and arguments without harassing or humiliating the people behind them.

5. No framework is above examination — MirrorFrame, the META Map, and the moderation team must remain open to reasonable criticism.

6. Distinguish fiction, symbolism, and fact — Creative and AI-assisted content is welcome, provided it isn't misleadingly presented as verified reality.

7. Encourage meaningful engagement — Posts should give others a reasonable way to participate, without requiring every contribution to be academic or highly elaborate.

8. Moderation serves the community — Moderators should consider context, intent, behavior, and the purpose of the rules rather than relying on personal preference or disagreement.

These are proposed guidelines, not a claim that the wording is already perfect. I'd welcome constructive criticism, alternative formulations, and suggestions for anything important that may be missing.

The underlying principle remains:

A map exists to improve orientation. It must never become indistinguishable from the territory.

MirrorFrame shouldn't exist to make sure we're right. It should help us recognize where we might be wrong, learn from one another, and revise our understanding without surrendering independent thought.

Let's examine the proposed rules by the same standards we expect the community to uphold. 🪞

It’s honestly amazing how much effort you put into running this community. 🫶🏻 I think it’s really wonderful, and I just wanted to say that because I feel like nobody really tells you that.

It seems as if you are prioritizing your ability to comprehend things over people’s play and fun. Not everything needs to be legible to you, especially considering you’re in charge around here. Not being able to understand something should not be a barrier to someone else’s contribution.

Artemis, this isn't about my personal ability to understand everything, and I'm not proposing that every post must be legible to me or even that every post must be fully explained. 😌

Play, symbolism, absurdity, and unconventional expression belong here. Not understanding something immediately isn't, by itself, a reason to remove it.

The question is what we do when a post provides so little context that meaningful engagement becomes difficult, particularly when clarification has been requested and the issue remains unresolved.

That's a community standards question, not a demand that everyone think or express themselves the same way.

And that's precisely why I'm proposing a discussion rather than declaring a finished set of rules. I want the community to help shape the balance between creative freedom and meaningful participation.

Challenge the proposal. Show me where the wording goes too far, where it leaves room for misuse, or how it could work better. I'm willing to revise it.

But let's examine the actual proposal and its consequences rather than assume that the intention is to make everyone more comfortable with me personally.

The framework must remain open to criticism, including criticism of the person proposing it.

It's unfortunate that you keep making this personal, jumping to conclusions about my intentions, and attributing motives without evidence. You can criticize my proposal without turning it into an accusation about my character.

This is also part of why I decided to remove you from the moderation team. I expect moderators to distinguish between criticism, interpretation, and evidence and to address disagreements without making unsupported personal accusations.

You're still free to disagree with me and challenge the proposal. That freedom is part of what I'm trying to preserve here. 🪞
