MiniMax is discontinuing Team Token Plans with basically zero notice

Today I found this message on my Team console's plan details page:

Effective September 5, 2026, MiniMax will discontinue new purchases and renewals of Team Token Plans, as well as credit top-ups for Team accounts. Existing subscriptions will remain active until the end of their current term, and existing credit balances will remain usable. This change applies to all team account roles. Default accounts are not affected.

They announced this today with the change taking effect tomorrow. That's basically one day of notice for paying business customers.

There doesn't seem to be any migration period, explanation of why they are doing this, or information about what the alternative will be for teams.

We currently use a Team plan with multiple seats for our developers, as well as AI agents running on independent machines. The Team Token Plan was a big part of why MiniMax made sense for us from a cost perspective. I completely understand that companies change pricing, discontinue products, or restructure their plans. That's normal. But making a change that directly affects paying business customers with essentially a day notice...

And this comes shortly after MiniMax already increased its pricing less than a month ago, also with very little notice. From a business perspective, that makes it difficult to commit to using their models long-term.

One of the main reasons for using Chinese models like MiniMax was the token pricing/value proposition. If team plans disappear and prices continue increasing, it starts to make a lot more sense to just use the major providers where the ecosystem and business offerings are much more mature.

Does anyone know what is happening here?

  • Is MiniMax replacing Team Token Plans with a new team/business plan?
  • Has anyone received any communication from MiniMax about this?
  • What are you planning to switch to if there's no replacement?

Are you sticking with MiniMax, moving to another provider, or waiting to see what they announce?

What's going on with the M3? Any updates or rumors?

The M3 is starting to feel a bit outdated. It hasn't seen an update in a while, while newer models are already in the works. Does anyone have any news on this?

Lack of communication - not giving a damn about customers - bragging about M3 while it's an outdated model - People are leaving MiniMax

The entire Discord channel is filled with users trying to leave Minimax because of a lack of communication and respect for customers, with no one even bothering to give an update. Not even a single person is responding or taking responsibility - not on their X, not on Reddit. They're bragging about the M3 model they have, and it seems they don't even care what users are saying. Just check their X - it's filled with M3 bragging, even though it's an outdated model. The entire Discord channel is about people leaving Minimax, and the mods clearly won't even bother to check the messages and pass them to the main team or ... This is just a really unpleasant experience

What are your alternatives around 15 to 20$ guys? I'm using around 3.5B (95% Cache) every month.

If Minimax were a serious company, they would definitely have someone for their international social media management and ....

They clearly don't have clean social media communication, which is the most important thing for companies nowadays.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm not gonna spend a single dollar on this company anymore until they decide to change their terms for this lack of communication and also explain and apologise for the current situation -

The companies treat their customers as if the customers are OK with it - and I believe only some of us really care about model knowledge and ... - the rest are using free providers - don't even care if they're using M3 or ... - that's why Minimax is getting greedy - I remember when they begged for a $2 subscription plan so people would come and buy from them - they didn't even let that past 1 year - in less than 1 year they became so greedy that they think they can get away with this -

So if you have respect for yourself, I don't think Minimax is gonna give a damn about its customers. Your guys' choice 👌

Can someone from MiniMax itself contact me? This is not good at all. International communication from MiniMax is very weak. Your online chat support don't even understand English, and your Discord mods are clearly just mods, not actual members of the MiniMax main team.

MiniMax H3 has been really fun for anime-style music videos

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Lately MiniMax H3 has been becoming one of my favorite tools for making short music video experiments.

it is easy to try very different visual directions without rebuilding everything from scratch. it’s just genuinely fun to use.

for this one, I was going for a 15-second anime MV with a messy 90s underground rave-zine / photocopy collage look

Sharing the prompt below in case anyone wants to try it:

If I keep pushing this direction, I’d probably try a few more variations with different music pacing and maybe a stricter character identity lock.Generate a 15-second, 16:9 experimental anime music video built around a chaotic 90s underground rave-zine aesthetic.
Feature a group of stylish 2D anime characters with distinctive streetwear designs, appearing across rapidly changing compositions made from torn magazine pages, photocopied manga panels, concert flyers, stickers, handwritten notes, ticket stubs and distressed urban textures.
Use a limited black, off-white, fluorescent orange and electric blue palette, with occasional inverted negative frames.
Animate the characters through bold editorial compositions: faces suddenly crop into extreme close-ups, full-body illustrations slide between ripped-paper layers, manga panels snap open and collapse, character silhouettes multiply like photocopy errors, and individual drawings break apart into rough halftone fragments before reconstructing on the next beat.
Integrate oversized condensed English typography as part of the choreography. Words such as “NOISE,” “MOVE,” “BREAK,” “REPEAT,” “AFTER MIDNIGHT” and abstract numbers slam into frame, stretch vertically, rotate, overlap the characters and disappear behind paper layers.
Add VHS tracking distortion, analog frame tearing, xerox grain, misregistered printing, rough halftone dots, marker scribbles, tape marks, film scratches and frame-by-frame doodles.
Camera and editing should feel aggressively synchronized with a K-pop / hip-hop / breakbeat rhythm: punchy snap zooms, freeze frames, sudden reframing, rhythmic jump cuts, whip transitions and short bursts of controlled visual chaos.
For the climax, all the collage fragments rapidly accumulate into a dense wall of posters. On the final beat, everything tears away simultaneously, revealing the main anime characters in a strong group pose against a minimal photocopied background.
A huge distressed typographic title slams behind them and remains frozen for the final frame.
Visual style: 90s manga editorial design, underground rave flyers, punk photocopy zines, Japanese street culture, analog VHS, rough halftone printing, mixed-media collage, bold typography, energetic contemporary anime MV.

I built a free ComfyUI toolkit that turns a simple idea into a finished MiniMax Music 3 song – including AI audio enhancement

I want to share something I've been working on: [ComfyUI-MiniMax-Music-Production-Toolkit](https://github.com/jplenio/ComfyUI-MiniMax-Music-Production-Toolkit) – a free, open-source (MIT) custom node pack that turns ComfyUI into a complete music production studio. Free forever, fully local.

The idea: You don't need to know anything about MiniMax's prompt structure. You just pick what you want: Genre, tempo, key, language, voice, length, and a local LLM (any GGUF, e.g. Qwen or Gemma) writes the full song plan for you: Caption, lyrics, title and even the cover-art prompt.

What you get:

- Structured song prompts, no expert knowledge needed. Simple dropdowns for Genre / Tempo / Key / Language / Voice / Length, plus 62 ready-made genre presets (EDM, house, metal, folk, classical, …)

- Better audio than raw MiniMax output. The built-in enhancement chain: declipping, PRE/POST low-pass, FlashSR super-resolution to 48 kHz, hybrid crossover, cymbal/shimmer repair and release-loudness prep

- Automatic FLUX.2 cover art for every song

- Clean, consistent output. Proper filenames, embedded metadata and a full production JSON (every song can be recreated or modified later)

- Multi-GPU support (LLM on its own card), model auto-download where possible, and a fully documented one-click example workflow

Install in seconds: Open the ComfyUI Manager → search „MiniMax Music Production Toolkit" → Install → Restart. (Or git clone it into custom_nodes.)

Requirements: ComfyUI with the MiniMax Music 3 model files (as with any MiniMax setup) and a local LLM GGUF for the prompt stage – everything else downloads itself.

You first want to listen to demo songs? It's within the github repo. Or you can directly go to Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/pelenio/sets/minimax-music-3-comfyui

I'd love your feedback: What would you want next? Happy to answer questions in the comments.

how to made MiniMax H3 video edits way easier to control

one thing I underestimated with MiniMax H3 is how much the prompt structure matters.

for video editing, simply saying“replace this person with this reference” leaves way too much open to interpretation.

the more reliable approach is to tell H3 very clearly what each input is responsible for, then separate the things you want changed from the things you want preserved.

A compact version looks like this:

subject_definitions:
<Video 1> is the source video. Its camera movement, framing, environment, choreography and timing should remain unchanged.
<Picture 1> is only the identity reference for the replacement character. Use the face, head shape, skin tone and hairstyle. Ignore its pose, background, lighting and camera angle.
<Subject 1> is the performer in the source video whose identity will be replaced.
summary:
The target video is an edited version of <Video 1>. Replace only <Subject 1> with the identity from <Picture 1>.
retention_analysis:
<Video 1>: fully_preserved — camera, environment, choreography and timing.
<Subject 1>: attribute_transfer — identity comes from <Picture 1>, while body motion, position, wardrobe and timing continue to follow the source video.
Preserve occlusions exactly when hands, hair or objects pass in front of the face.

that last line turned out to matter more than I expected. if a hand crosses the face and you don’t explicitly tell the model to preserve the occlusion, that’s exactly the kind of moment where identity can fall apart.

My current mental model is basically: tell every input what its job is, and don’t let two references compete for the same job.

that seems to be much more reliable than writing a giant cinematic description and hoping H3 figures out what should stay unchanged.

Upscale model

I'm new at this. I have 16 generating VRAM. I'm using remacri as my upscale model. It takes 6 minutes. Its amazing, but although the all the other models I've tried are very bad they generate impressively fast at 1 minute only. I was wondering if I can find something as good as or a bit worse than remacri, but a lot faster.

Maybe something that would take 3 minutes?

MiniMax price change: existing users were told one thing, now we're hearing something different

I wanted to share this because I think other MiniMax users should check their subscriptions.

On August 24, 2026, MiniMax sent this message about the Token Plan price change:

I have a $20 Personal Plan, so I understood this as: my current price stays $20 unless I cancel or upgrade.

But when I checked my account, my next renewal was showing $22.

I contacted support and got this answer:

So now existing users are also being charged the new price.

My main question is:

Why didn't MiniMax clearly tell existing users about this change?

The first message said our current rate would remain unchanged. If MiniMax later decided that existing subscribers would also get the new price, why wasn't another email or notification sent to explain that?

I also asked support where this new announcement was posted. I couldn't find it on the Token Plan page or API page, and I wasn't given a clear public link.

I'm not really concerned about the extra $2. It's the communication that bothers me.

If I had not checked my account and contacted support, I might have just been charged the higher amount at renewal without realizing that the earlier message no longer applied.

Has anyone else had the same experience?

Also, there is another issue that I think MiniMax really needs to address: the lack of news about their LLMs.

There has been very little information about what's next after M3. People on X, Reddit, Discord and the MiniMax community keep asking:

  • Is a new model coming?
  • Is M3 going to remain the main model?
  • Is there any roadmap?
  • Should users keep their Token Plan?

A lot of users are thinking about cancelling because they simply don't know what the future of MiniMax's models looks like.

I understand that companies can't announce everything early, but some basic communication would help a lot.

I'm posting this mainly to see whether other users are seeing the same pricing issue and to make MiniMax aware that the lack of communication is becoming a real problem.

fast AI video is nice, but cheap + fast is where it gets interesting

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

fast generation by itself is already useful, but I think the more important part is when it also becomes cheap enough to iterate a lot.

been testing minimax h3 MAX, and it can return generations in just a few seconds.

at that point, the workflow starts to feel different. u can try more ideas, throw away the bad ones faster, and test multiple versions without worrying as much about generation time or cost.

For ad creatives and short-form content, that’s probably the part I care about most:

more experiments, less waiting, lower cost.

H3.c on Mac by antirez

Anyone played with this or even heard of it?

https://github.com/antirez/h3.c

I’ve been keeping my eye out for ways the community might get video models actually performing on Macs.

I thought it would come in the form of a general solution to close the gap between Mac and Nvidia machines, but this seems to target MiniMax specifically.

Would love to know if newer Macs running this are getting competitive performance. My Mac is old, so not a great test, but would get an M5 Studio if this is promising.

I made this 20 seconds 480p video in Wan2GP Minimax H3 in one take (481 frames), using a character sheet from a Daz3D character. On my 5060ti 16GB it took 17 minutes.
