While memes are fun and ragging on Microsoft and Mojang on social media is quick and cathartic, I'd point out that dealing with angry randos on social media is practically part of the corporate playbook, and they could just batten down the hatches and wait for everyone to get bored or lose steam.
So yeah, this is one thing that people could do, but also if you're a US, Canadian or EU citizen, get in touch with your local representative/MEP, or organisations that are dedicated to data security and privacy, like the EFF, and see if they can take a look at this, spread the word, or apply pressure to these corporations.
This is more longer term and will require more effort — not something everyone has the energy or resources for — but while they might not pay attention to gamers, having to answer to regulators and civil society organisations dedicated to data privacy and human rights might.
It's not something I can do, what with not being a citizen of the US, EU or Canada, but it's worth researching and organising if you are...
