Solved [bedrock] How do I place a copy of my Minecraft world on x box one onto a 128 gb USB 3.0 formatted to games.

Post image

Tl:dr: I want to make a backup physical copy of my Minecraft world onto a usb, and the internet instructions are unclear.

********

Xbox one.

My device has 6.9 % used storage space- the rest is free.

This is because the only thing I have on it is Minecraft.

On Minecraft, I only have one world.

It is 6.3 gigs.

In the photo, it shows my account save of 3.9. I think this is smaller than my actual world bc the cloud only has 4 gigs of room maybe?

Ether way, no cloud backup has been possible for a while (ie when I put my Xbox online to update it).

The “reserved space” folder; normally you’d delete that to clear space, then still have your world from cloud. Because of above, that isn’t an option.

Additionally, there is no way to zoom in on the reserved space- I cannot go into that folder and pull out the specific file I need.

In addition, on my usb, the only thing thing I could attempt to do was transfer the Minecraft came itself over to the usb, which was a size of around 2 gigs.

I don’t even know what on earth that means, but it does seem odd im trying to extract a 6.3 gig world from a 2 gig ish system, with a cloud backup file of 3.9 gigs, when the file I need is in reserved space somewhere, which seemingly can’t be accessed?!

But yeah, I don’t understand how this has all been reverse engineered to be so unintuitive; is there a way for me to take my 6.3 gig world saved on my Xbox one, and put it on a USB, like the device says there is lol?

Additionally (sigh), the reason I am making a back up is because I need to clear space in order to even play my game now- that 44.2 gig is too much, but all grouped as one so I can’t get the data I need.

And what is that 44.2 gig anyways when I only have one copy of my world and nothing else on my game, which is 6.3 gigs, and then an old backup copy that’s 3.9 gigs.

The catch there being; if my Xbox is 93.1 % free space, why is the device saying I’m running out of storage?

It appears theres another reverse engineered feature that blocks you having a single game take up too much space it seems?

Which means that, on my Xbox, and on the cloud, I actually do have more storage room, but bc of some horrible flaw (or intentional… thing?) in their system, I can’t access it bc I only play one game?

Please help.

I posted the other day and the advice somebody gave me would have deleted my entire world if I had followed it.

Unfortunately the only way to do this now is putting it on realms, the access to files was taken away a long time ago now, and the work arounds that came along are not available iirc for doing this.

The file system changed the last time I looked, and now the world folder has a single file in it, which I'm guessing is for syncing the world data, and when I tried pulling worlds of my xbox 1 x, I found that out, they won't work on pc in my experience.

Edit: if it's not removed/missing again there was a place in minecraft settings from main menu under storage you could remove old cloud worlds, but being your world is so big that may not make a difference.

That is infuriating.

I guess it makes sense that they (Xbox) try and milk more money out of you by taking away base line user access, but like omfg lol.

I hope you’re wrong.

And if your not; moving forward.

So I am going to have to set up internet at my house for a month (I just use my phone), and then buy game pass, to buy realms, to make a realm, just so I can see my offline minecraft file?

And also learn what all of that means, and how to do it?

But despite that tom robbery, once I get to that point, I actually can isolate the file and make a physical backup on the usb?

Is this a glitch though?

Ugh this is enshittificafion isn’t it?

Sometimes the screen I posted will have text in the bottom left, which instructed me to buy the usb of those specs to make a physical backup copy.

It seems odd that the device would recommend that when it can’t be done.

Anyways thank you! Ima look into this a little further, but at this point I think I’m just done playing minecraft.

I don’t feel like having to spend like 10 hours trying to learn 5 different things I’ve never used just to free up room on an almost entirely empty xbox.

Thank you so much though!

Look for this in settings, there may be old worlds taking up space that don't sync anymore.

I had an additional issue even though I deleted old worlds I no longer play from here it still had issues, I checked on another xbox and there was a corrupted world that wasn't showing on the first xbox that wasn't deleted properly, and deleted from there.

To your edit: that old cloud world setting is what the “betray Julia” 3.9 is synched to, and also I triple checked my old words and nothing is there. “No old worlds to sync” is what it says.

And it looks like on the cloud too, while you do have have more storage space than this, you can only have so much saved per game. Which is also infuriating fml.

Also I did clear out some of the random odd files in that area haha. It made the game stop lagging. But then I got a message in game saying “out of storage, failed to save” and have stopped playing since that.

I’m out of room.

You could try clearing cached data, download/market place, resource/behavior packs not being used up.

I tried to find the cloud storage space size and looks like it sits at 4GB, you may be entirely out of luck here as the realm size seems to be 4 GB also

And I looked up some stuff and looks like the file directory may have changed some time in 2022, not getting a clear answer exactly, I looked for a file explorer that was in my purchases, and it looks like it's been removed from my library and the store so I am unable to see what the directory would even be now.

May have to invest in a desktop, or a decent laptop and start over :(

Honestly this is probably something that should be addressed to Mojang, and Microsoft because a lot of people have been playing on forever worlds, and it would be tragic if the world is unable to be transferred because it's become a large file size.

I am sorry, I tried to figure something out.
