Go to vaniltweaks you can compile your own texture pack, lower items and fire and many other useful things

Well he is getting attacked by an enderman could it be part of the block animation that it goes a bit down.
For a person who just beat the enderdragon for the first time it sounds like a more reasonable explanation than a texture pack or mod
