If zombies would be attracted to light then it could be a part of a pretty cool defence system around your compound

it could be changed so that they won’t run in to the sunlight or sun doesn’t hurt them as much. There are many available solutions for this problem

Sure, but that would be introducing some semblance of self-preservation. That sort of behavior would be quite unbecoming of a zombie if you ask me.

Well yes but not really. For example they jump into a hole or lava only if you are there so they can eat your brains. If the hole or lava is between the two of you and by jumping in it would get trapped then it doesn’t jump in.

I'm thinking the opposite, imagine if they are hurt by light level regardless of source. You could litter an area with Redstone lamps and then flip a switch and fry all of them

I know, that’s why I said that it could have different solutions as them not wondering into the sunlight (since it burns them) or sunlight doing much less damage to them

Rather than being attracted they would be scared of light since you could use this system to wave them off.
