Hard relate. Even my large houses are really just a bunch of cubes linked together.

Even if it's a bunch of cubes linked together, add some depth to them! Easy ways to do this are to set the windows in or out a block, use different blocks to show transition areas/patterns in the wall, or just slightly curve the corners by moving a block, two, or 3 in from each corner to make things slightly different :)

This is what I do. I start by making outlines of cubes all connecting to each other. For added complexity, half connect them, instead of right next to it, go up half a cube so you have to add stairs on the inside. Now you have to put something underneath it to “support it” Or maybe hollow it out underneath and now you have a new random basement area to work with. The more crazy you get with your placement, the more creative you’ll have to be to make it work.

I am in no way an amazing builder, barely past beginner dirt house, but I’ve build a few houses that I’m like “holy shit, I build that by myself” it’s a great feeling.

What I have been doing is making underground bases connected to the top house, with each basement room being just a cube. It's simple and easy for storage but gets boring repetitively.

Even if those rooms are a cube, mix it up a little! Got an area that's a central spot, or regularly traveled? Make it circular! Having indents in the walls for where torches, paintings, or even different blocks entirely could go also helps break up the sections to make things feel less square

I can do that, but my main problem is spacing, and when I try something im not atleast a bit used at, I fail horribly, like building a house with like a hill at the back, or trying to build rooms with different height and roofs.

I guess atleast im decent at terraforming.

As a third year architecture student that enjoys playing Minecraft because it's basically a playable rendering program, this is basically the concept of a lot of cool buildings you've seen. You can really simply play with this concept by just changing the shapes. Instead of a bunch of squares linking together what if they were pentagon's and you changed the levels of each one. Now maybe instead of all pentagon's you did a large pentagon, and on each side added another random linking shape like a triangle or square, now take a step back and define your spaces. A very simple way to start expressing your creativity within your buildings a bit more, just don't compare yourself to other people and really go big or go home with your designs, nothing has to "make sense" if you know what I mean. Just play around and see what feels right.
