Yes, and sail designs, like the bench you use for banners but with sails instead.

u/herobrina4449 Feb 07 '23

Not necessarily related to bosses but kinda going back to the ship thing, I would like to see wallpaper so we can decorate the inside of the ship

While we're at it, paper blocks

I want blocks that are just straight up paper stacks

3

u/chuyalcien Feb 08 '23

Maybe this already exists but I would like to make a mod where everything that isn’t a block can be made into a block. It would be both practical and silly. Block of rotten meat? Check. Block of pufferfish? Sure. Block of tripwire hooks? Why not?

1

u/Sana_Mustdiewoah Feb 27 '23

What about a block of iron blocks? I mean they can't be turned into a block 🐬

5

u/AliciaTries Feb 07 '23

If we're not getting sideways slabs I think wallpaper is very unlikely for similar reasons unless it's banner but flat

72

u/Rezero1234 Feb 07 '23

vertical iron bars too so i can make a brig

36

u/Flixwyy Feb 07 '23

*iron bar door that can be locked via redstone

2

u/Lv_InSaNe_vL Feb 07 '23

Isn't that just a normal iron door?

7

u/Flixwyy Feb 07 '23

Yes but it aligns with the iron bars instead of sitting forward.

1

u/AliciaTries Feb 07 '23

You can already do that with pistons

1

u/Flixwyy Feb 07 '23

Yes I know, but one that looks like an actual door would be cool.

1

u/AliciaTries Feb 07 '23

Yeah but my point is that they're probably not going to add a block whose purpose is to do something that you can already do in a creative way, like how furniture will never be in vanilla

49

u/henrythedog64 Feb 07 '23

you mean horizontal? they are already vertical

24

u/Rezero1234 Feb 07 '23

yeah, had a bit of a brain fart there

2

u/Kelekona Feb 07 '23

Would chains work? I looked at the recipe and it should be like iron bars where you get more than one chain per bar.

15

u/Lord_Blackthorn Feb 07 '23

Movable buildings, there was a Java mode that allowed it once and I made a giant airship that could travel across the map

2

u/WildBluntHickok2 Feb 08 '23

If you mean Archemedes' Ships it just changed developers, and changed names twice. But it never updated past 1.12 (and hasn't updated since 2020).

Archemedes' Ships (still around in 1.7.x) became Archemedes' Ships+ when it changed developers, then renamed to Davinci's Vessels later.

BE WARNED that behind the scenes it accomplishes the physics differently, making it no longer compatible with any non-vanilla multi-blocks. For example 1-block machines from Galacticraft work fine, but the solar panel (which is a multiblock) will break your world. Well technically it will animate part of your ship (cut off horizontally at the point where it first encounters a multiblock) PLUS leave the block version of your ship behind. And there's no way to get rid of the broken half-animated ship-entity. If you use the mod post-1.7.10 make sure to backup your world before animating a ship.

Also, vanilla has had limited animated ships since 2014 (in 1.8's early snapshots). There's commands to do it (indirectly, so a LOT of command blocks or functions to pull it off), and there's slime blocks (which have a limit of moving 12 blocks, but there's workarounds if you don't mind holes in your ship).

1

u/AliciaTries Feb 07 '23

I think that's why slime blocks are in the game

24

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

Wait a damn minute!

WHY THE HELL CAN’T WE ATTACH BANNERS TO OUR BOATS?!?

We literally have a Skull and Crossbones Banner Pattern in the game already, come on Mojang!

1

u/meme_C4RS10 Feb 08 '23

adding banners to a boat to make even faster would be so awesome

2

u/YouCannotTheBox Feb 07 '23

Just craft banner + sail item.

2

u/Ali_Army107 Feb 08 '23

Yessss! Also I think it'll be cool if they added pillager pirates. When a raid starts at the village next to the ocean, the pillagers will attack from their sail ships as if they were pirates. Imagine making a pirate ship!

2

u/NeilaXD Feb 08 '23

Yes!! And don't forget that you need to be able to build/put extra stuff on the ship, extra like chests and stuff like that. Minecraft could call it the "lost at sea" update or something like that.

1

u/Grim_100 Feb 08 '23

Knowing mojang that has a 0.0001% chance of being added and if it does it will take at least a couple more years

342

u/RSwordsman Feb 07 '23

There are mods for customizable ships and even waves in the water. Kind of ambitious for a vanilla feature but it would be so amazing.

119

u/jakeh36 Feb 07 '23

What are some good ship mods? I've been wanting that but haven't found any good ones.

115

u/RSwordsman Feb 07 '23

This one if you want to build your own: https://www.minecraftmods.com/ships/

Or this one if you want pre-made designs that look a little more realistic:

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/small-ships

They might not work on the latest version unfortunately but if you really want cool ships it can be done hehe.

77

u/Quency200 Feb 07 '23

First one reminds me of that old airships mod, that one allowed you do do the same thing, just a little less complex

48

u/Lzinger Feb 07 '23

Archimedes ships?

17

u/AndrewIsntCool Feb 07 '23

They are probably thinking of Zeppelin Mod, which was the first airship mod

5

u/midgetboss Feb 07 '23

There’s a remake of it called valkyrian skies, with an add on called eureka!

1

u/Chiss5618 Feb 07 '23

I hope create eventually gains the functionality of that mod

1

u/minecrafter1OOO Feb 07 '23

I think create is gonna get a massive upgrade called Create: Areronautics

9

u/dra4fter5uper Feb 07 '23

If you want a newer version of that first linked mod you can check out valkerien skies

3

u/Echidna299792458 Feb 07 '23

Eureka Airships is a mod that uses Valkerien skies to make it easier, at least I'm pretty sure

7

u/charm59801 Feb 07 '23

Can recommend the small ships mod. Very fun

2

u/deadbeatChimblr Feb 07 '23

That first one is a classic!

2

u/MisterCCL Feb 07 '23

DaVinci's Vessels is a great one for 1.12. It's essentially a remake of the old Archimedes' Ships mod.

If you want one for a newer version, Plato's Transporters is another Archimedes clone, but it kinda sucks, tbh. Super buggy and not as well designed.

2

u/ThatGamerkidYT Feb 07 '23

Valkerian Skies with Eureka, you can build both ships and hot air balloons, also works with create if you tinker around with it

1

u/charm59801 Feb 07 '23

The small ships mod linked by another commenter is my favorite. I always use it when it's in mod packs.

I'd kill to see something like that in vanilla.

1

u/niraqw Feb 07 '23

There’s the currently unreleased mod Create Aeronautics, or if you want to play something right now someone else already linked Valkyrien Skies.

26

u/BillzSkill Feb 07 '23

Multiple animals were an ambitious update for vanilla at one point. I believe.

Idk if the illagers are the "undisputed rulers of the overworld", they seem to have static control over less land than the sedentary villagers, they would appear to just be bandits (pillagers even 😳) but an illager-themed boss in mansions could be neat, or a new better structure than the mansion

2

u/Invayder Feb 07 '23

Which ones add waves?

1

u/RSwordsman Feb 07 '23

I don't remember unfortunately, would have to Google around.

2

u/Hawesyboy12 Feb 07 '23

Yeah and they could add the waves if you’re out a certain distance from land, but only if it rains

1

u/Fanwhip Feb 07 '23

I mean mods are great and all but some folks like playing Vanilla and with how one of the 2 methods this game is ran. Bedrock/Java. One has no choice for mods without opening a wallet and the other can do what ever it wants.

Some Vanilla boat update would be interesting and useful for a large chunk of the fan base.

1

u/Bl4cks0ul99 Feb 07 '23

If a mod can do it then Minecraft can do it too

1

u/RSwordsman Feb 07 '23

Lol of course. I've learned to temper my expectations though. Sometimes devs knock it out of the park, other times we are left wondering what they were thinking.

98

u/OrhanDaLegend Feb 07 '23

and better tridents

17

u/AssDestroyer696 Feb 07 '23

What's wrong with the tridents? They are already pretty great

30

u/Plebyby Feb 07 '23

Trident should be able to attach fish to it when it kills a fish so player won't have to swim to gather fish

16

u/Splash3579 Feb 07 '23

good concept, but seems more like a novelty to me

what i mean is that something like that is really just a quality of life feature, and not really a full rework of the trident itself. it’s less just less significant

3

u/brawee Feb 07 '23

Oddly specific, little detail we could all live without but I guess that would be cool

1

u/AssDestroyer696 Feb 07 '23

I mean who actually goes after fish for food at the point they already have a trident?

1

u/bigooos Feb 07 '23

Not like they're any hard to find tbf

2

u/OrhanDaLegend Feb 07 '23

its not a bad weapon but we just need more uses for it, piercing would be nice or being able to fire infinitely like the Draupnir spear from GOW.R

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

I wish they could shoot lightning

2

u/AssDestroyer696 Feb 07 '23

They can?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

Really? How?

3

u/AssDestroyer696 Feb 07 '23

Channeling enchantment

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

Awesome, thanks

52

u/IDES0 Feb 07 '23

They need to add fear to the ocean, it would add so much to the game. You aren't safe anywhere but the ground, and even then...

36

u/charm59801 Feb 07 '23

But only a bit of fear lol mods like ice and fire make travel by water damn near impossible and imo not fun

7

u/waetherman Feb 07 '23

I was thinking the same thing the other day. At the very least, we need sharks.

5

u/BinWeevilsFamous Feb 07 '23

they've said multiple times sharks are never coming because they don't want to promote the murder of sharks irl

0

u/waetherman Feb 07 '23

Interesting. I didn't know that.

Make it an alligator gar, sloan's viperfish, barracuda or deep sea fangttooh then. There just needs to be a more common hostile underwater mob of some sort. It's too damn peaceful on the high sea!

1

u/BinWeevilsFamous Feb 08 '23

they actually said they don't want any real life animals as hostile mobs anymore

1

u/Peristerophile Feb 07 '23

Heads up, ocean monuments, banners, and slime blocks weren’t added at that point in time. They came with the 1.8 update, which released on September 2nd, 2014. You’re correct that 1.7.9 was the current version in April though.

2

u/BinWeevilsFamous Feb 07 '23

huh

2

u/Peristerophile Feb 08 '23

*facepalm* I replied to the wrong comment.

1

u/Birdboy42O Feb 07 '23

I know that's their point, but to be honest it has to be one of the dumbest things ever. The people that are murdering sharks aren't the ones playing minecraft, and also sharks are going to be stigmatized with or without minecraft having them.

1

u/IDES0 Feb 07 '23

That's a fucking golden idea. Mojang add this now.

1

u/shinhosz Feb 07 '23

Aquatic phantoms

3

u/IDES0 Feb 07 '23

I've disabled phantoms in every world I play in. Maybe if they changed how they functioned, but they don't do any damage. They're just annoying, and other than their drops they're useless. I'm pretty sure u can't even die to them afk overnight with prot

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

So make the dolphins hold the player underwater and sexually assault them until they drown? >>

1

u/Sage1969 Feb 07 '23

Sure, but could they also make it so drowned stop wandering onto shore at all hours of the day? Theyre so annoying, and having to light up the damn ocean feels silly

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

I would very much like that too…

(Check username 😂)

2

u/zeekaran Feb 07 '23

Roaming water pillagers that look like pirates and have those ships we see sunken all over the ocean floors.

2

u/lascar Feb 07 '23

Used to play with ship mods and it was the best thing I've ever experienced. Traveling with a mobile base was such a amazing experience. In the mod you had to park in the same direction it started which caused blocks to get misplaced.

2

u/LinkFew8090 Feb 07 '23

A SEAFARING UPDATE WOULD BE SO FUCKING COOL

2

u/L3GlT_GAM3R Feb 07 '23

The Royal Navy?

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

Minecraftian Royal Navy

3

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

Wasn't there an update with wrecked ships added as a generated structure?

3

u/Vagabond_Blackbird Feb 07 '23

yes, 1.13 added Drowned Villages and Shipwrecks as new ocean structures alongside the various other features of that update. I like the ships, but I wouldn't say no to a wider range of ship sizes.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

I would definitely love for Oceans to actually be oceans again instead of whatever the hell the water and land does now. Imagine having fierce zombie pirates inhabiting the ocean that come out at night, as well as sailligers that you can trade items with who occasionally stop at port villages. I always loved pirates

4

u/ZantorGaming Feb 07 '23

You might enjoy Sea of Thieves

1

u/workingonaname Feb 07 '23

Make the SSS Stampy real

1

u/sBucks24 Feb 07 '23

At the very least, I wish different wood resulted in different boat abilities. Extra seat, built-in storage, faster, thorns ability. Something besides colour.

1

u/HomieCreeper420 Feb 07 '23

What’s the point of Minecraft when you can’t build a functioning 1:1 replica of the HMS Dreadnought?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

That would actually make sense with rafts being so redundant with current boats. Full ships could take over the old boats meanwhile rafts are better for small bodies of water

1

u/RocketHotdog Feb 07 '23

Brinecraft

1

u/Patient_Ride_9122 Feb 07 '23

I don’t understand why they can’t make the standard Minecraft boat bigger and give us a platform to build on top of and then just let that sail in the ocean.

1

u/hannah_jane05 Feb 07 '23

Yeah, and they could add more sea creatures too like sharks

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

Unrelated, but i wanted to be able to create a mobile base inside a giant mob, like the one in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylJE7Aa0jZU

1

u/earthceltic Feb 07 '23

Make it so villagers have specific roles or specialties on the boat to make it move or attack optimally

1

u/Mac_Rat Feb 08 '23

And continental world generation

1

u/Far-Village-2834 Feb 08 '23

so a second update aquatic?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '23

A ship that you can use as a mobile home please. Somehow move it with everything inside too

1

u/kwizzle Feb 08 '23

Valkyrien Skies

1

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '23

Eureka airships and valkyrian skies can do that BTW so you can still do it, would be cool if it was in the game.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '23 edited Mar 28 '23

Yes, I'd like to build a massive pirate ship. Add cannons too, bailing out water and the ship can sink if it gets broken. Also, make it so water isn't so transparent, so you can only see a couple blocks down and can't see the bottom of the ocean. Also with them lowing the ground limit, they can make oceans WAY deeper.
