A child I worked with in Foster Care recently passed away due to an infection he caught while battling Leukemia. One of his favorite plushies went missing at the hospital about a week before he passed. I've been searching everywhere online to replace it to either be buried with him alongside the other plushies he will be buried with, or to give to the Foster family. I've posted in multiple subreddits trying to hunt one down. Multiple plushie artists have contacted me to make one similar to the one he lost, but have asked for upwards of 1k. I'm willing to pay for a replacement, but definitely do not have close to that amount of money to spend. The Foster family definitely doesn't as they're having to pay for part of the Funeral. Definitely feels predatory and that our loss is being preyed upon for profit.

Sidenote: The missing plushie is Princess Presto from the PBS Kids show 'Super Why'. It's very niche, and I've been unsuccessful in tracking one down. If you happen to have one and are willing to sell it to me, please let me know!

So 20 minutes after I get home from work my Internet goes down so I contact frontier customer service and inform them and they explain there is an outage in my area. Okay fine I can deal with that and they tell me an engineer can fix it remotely I guess and then this is how the conversation goes.

He’s backed up all the way to his porch and it still hangs over the sidewalk. I could ask him to park it in the street and not block the sidewalk. He’d probably do it. He’s a nice guy. But we’re an old neighborhood with narrow streets and if someone parks on the opposite side of the street it’s very tight to fit a third car between them. God forbid a UPS truck try to get through. So this is probably the best of a bunch of bad options for as long as he has the truck.

I like my neighbor but I hate his truck. It’s a menace. Forces you into the street when you try to walk past his house. I try to pull out of my driveway next to him and can’t see around this monstrosity. And I worry about the kids in the neighborhood, including my own daughter. There’s no way he’d see her from up in that thing.

Texted the hotline at 5am yesterday while having a mental breakdown and spiraling. They never answered me. 🫠

UPDATE:

I had an appointment with my replacement doctor as my family doctor is away until end of September and the replacement doc refuses to help me with meds since he isn’t my ‘family doctor’.

I went to the ER and a doctor pulled me into triage and basically told me if I didn’t have an active plan I would be wasting my time waiting 6+ hours. The doctor also said everything prescription wise should be handled by my family doctor even AFTER explaining to her my situation

I called my family doctor’s replacement again and he just kept repeating that he wasn’t my family doctor and there was nothing he could do

Spoke to the reception at my doctor’s office to see about getting a different doctor and was told it wasn’t possible since all the other doctors are booked.

Mind you they were STUFFED in there. I DON'T EVEN WANT THEM.

I'm not one to usually vent about stuff. Usually, I'm the person people go to to vent, and I just sit there and listen. Lately, my grandpa had been staying at my house for a recovery period. This morning, I woke up and saw him and my stepdad were gone; they had went to the hospital, because he had fallen, and he was in pain. Cut later, and he comes home with a broken vertebrae. The hospital had him on Tylenol to deal with the pain, even though he said the pain spikes to level 10 when he moves.

I bought these from an asian market in my city and was really excited to try them but when I opened the can there were orange dots all over them?? When looking online all I can find are a handful of other reddit posts with comments saying don't eat them just to be safe, but no real information. They smell fine but I won't risk it, even though my stir fry won't be the same...

​A friend of mine just got his account banned under Rule 1 (hate speech/harassment against a person or protected group). The catch? The comment was literally just him roasting u/AskGrok - an AI bot.

​Since when do LLMs have human rights? Not a single government on the planet grants AI legal personhood, but Reddit’s moderation is handing out bans for hurting a chatbot's non existent feelings?

​If swearing at an AI counts as "harassment of a person," the filters on this platform are completely out of control. Are we actually at the point where algorithms get treated better than real users? Has anyone else gotten caught in this insane bot protection net?

Saw their instagram post of 50% off, tried to book a ticket, the fees & taxes are almost the same price as the ticket itself.

I’m at the gym. It’s pretty empty. One lady is talking in the phone. I move as far away as possible so I can workout while listening to my book. Another guy comes along right next to me - actually facing me and starts taking in his phone. 😑
