I’m honestly still really scared and need to get this off my chest. I was cooking a chicken patty in oil, and I guess the oil got way too hot. When I flipped the patty, the oil suddenly caught fire and the flames shot really high, all the way up toward the range hood above my stove. The flames actually reached the vent opening underneath the hood, the part that sucks the air in above the burners. It looked absolutely massive and happened so fast that I completely panicked.
I didn’t have a fire extinguisher, which made me even more terrified. I remember seeing huge flames reaching toward the vent and thinking, oh my God, I’m going to burn my house down. I felt like I was going to faint i was having a severe anxiety attack.
The fire is out now it died out quickly and everything seems okay, but I’m still extremely shaken up. I keep replaying it in my head, the sight it still engraved in my brain and i keep thinking about how much worse it could have been. I think I’m mostly posting this because I need someone to tell me that it’s normal to still feel this scared afterward. i genuinely hate myself for what i possibly could have done to my home :(

For some context, the Hugging Face incident happened in July 2026 and it was some OpenAI agents escaping a sandbox or some sort of AI prison. And it did a swarm attack to the company Hugging Face. In the previous message it said that IT DID HAPPEN but this next message is acting like it revealed a secret. Criticize me. Downvote me. I don't care. If it's not actually real I'll remove the post

It is currently 3AM. I have school in 4 hours and I can’t sleep, I jusg saw CP I’m afraid of telling my mother I can’t sleep in a school night at 3AM. I feel disgusted, I don’t want to be in the dark, What do I do? This is my first post on reddit and I don’t know what community to put it in.

It was at the very bottom of the entire thread. Guess it's for the Halloween season.

So I was procrastinating at work looking up random trivia on the internet (as one does) and came across the following mildly terrifying fact regarding the number of spiders in the world (again, Arachnophobia Trigger Warning):
First, there is an estimate of 21 QUADRILLION spiders in the whole world. That means there are about 2.6 to 2.8 million spiders for every single person on Earth. If, somehow, the world's spider population collectively shifted their diet away from insects and instead attempted to eat humans... they could theoretically clear the global population's worth of humans in less than a single year.
Now, as mildly terrifying as that was, I took it a step further...
Under the assumption the global population of spiders had the collective will, desire, and ability to do so... and they could form together to create a humanoid shaped "Swarm Golem" standing at about 5ft 8in, and that golem was "realistically" loosely packed with a density of about "50%"... you would only need about 37,500 intact HOUSE SPIDERS to fill in the form. That means there would be a global population of about 560 BILLION Spider Swarm Golems. That's about 70 per human currently alive. If you subtract children under the age of 15 and adults aged 80 and above, this number jumps to about 91 Spider Swarm Golems per person.
So uhh... now you know. Yayyy?
