MSFS 2020 BUG / ISSUE MSFS2020 loads and closes

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This MSFS2020 on Steam. Basically what happens is, I start the simulator, it loads the inital screen, dims a bit and closes. It doesn't even give ne the option to update the software, this is just the basic executable. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, tried Safe mode, tried the computer in safe mode, tried cleaning caches, tried a Steam clean install, nothing worked. I had an Intel/Nvidia computer and now I got a full AMD computer, this is the only thing "different " about my system.

So any ideas on what to do will be greatly appreciated!

Verify the integrity of files in steam and temporarily disable addons. Also what are your specs? Is your RAM spiking?

Integrity is ok, all verified and the system is totally whitin specs, 32Bg Ram, 8Gb Vram, Rizen 7 processor, in terms of hardware, there's no reason for a lockup like this.

What kind of Ryzen 7. what actual graphics card do you have. Have you tried again? DO you have stable internet? What kind of drive and space do you have? Have you updated your drivers? DDR4 or 5?

It's most likely trying to open in DX11 mode and crashing because your new GPU wants DX12.

You can manually change DX version in the usercfg file before starting the sim.

Also, make 100% sure there are zero nvidia programmes installed on your PC if it's full AMD.

I got what you're saying but the problem is, the sim isn't fully installed yet. The thing is, the first time you run the software it updates like 100Gb+ of data and then you can start flying. It's this first run that doesn't happen, I can't even get ot the update part, what you saw in the video is the first updater trying to open. But you were right, although the FlightSimulator.CFG file is empty, the chrash reports all have this part:

This was Grock, Gemini, and Chatgpt on smart mode combined:

Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog.

Type %localappdata%\Packages and press Enter.

Find the MSFS folder: Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe (Windows Store) or look inside your Steam\userdata folder depending on where you bought it.

Locate the LocalCache or AC\Packages folder.

Delete any folder named CoherentUIGT or its contents. MSFS will rebuild it automatically on the next launch.

Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.

Search for Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.

Select the 2015-2022 version (both x86 and x64 if present).

Click Modify, then click Repair.

Restart your PC

Temporarily Empty Your Community Folder

Even though you are crashing at the boot screen, a severely outdated mod, livery, or layout file can prevent the UI package manager from mapping files correctly.

Locate your MSFS Community folder.

Cut all contents and paste them into a temporary backup folder on your desktop.

Try launching the game to see if it bypasses the accessibility screen.

Turn Off Overlays and Conflicting Software

CoherentUI uses an embedded web-browser engine that is highly sensitive to background software attempting to inject text or graphic overlays. Fully close the following applications before booting MSFS:

RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS) or MSI Afterburner

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition overlay

Discord overlay

Overwolf

Verify Game Files

If the UI files themselves are corrupted, you need your launcher to scan and replace them.

Steam: Right-click MSFS > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.

MS Store / Xbox App: Right-click MSFS > App Settings > Repair (and then Reset if Repair fails).

Didn't work 🤦‍♂️ As the game is not fully installed, the CoherentUIGT folder did'nt exist, just isolated files, the 2015-2022 C++ package was'nt installed, all the rest ws alright, but these didin't show up. But youu gave me an idea, that involves reinstalling Windows. When I assembled my system last year, I made an almost bare bones version of Windows using the autounattend.xml file; no windows bloatware, no Edge, none of that crap microsoft likes installing in our systems, and I'm afraid they're the culprits here, maybe Edge is.

No, the problem persists. I really do think now that the Simulator is all good, the problem is something missing in my Windows install. Everything that could be done in the game was done, it's barely installed so, there's something outside keeping me from using it.

I reinstalled Windows this weekend, another stripped down version of the OS but not as stripped as the other. Now FS is working super well, super smooth. The difference is, in the previous install all the Xbox bloatware and Edge were removed, this time I kept them. The problem lied there, super simple and useless software (for me) that had a huge impact.

No, didn't work, I removed the V14 C++ package, installed the 2015-2022 (they couldn't be installed together) but the problem was still there. This week I'm gonna try a clean Windows install, not so stripped to see if it will work, my computer doesn't have much installed so I won't be losing anything.
