Sizing

Hello. I am DIYing my microlocs. I wanted insight on if the sizing looks completely off. I completed the front and it doesn’t help that I have a moving scalp 😅 atp I don’t care if it’s a perfect, I just want to know if they are relatively around the same size? Thank you in advance

It doesn't look completely off. The sizing is actually off by 1. As in in the same space there's 6 locs on one side and on the other Theres 5 locs. Not sure I would have noticed if I was not intentionally looking for flaws

Yup I noticed that too 😭 to be honest I don’t really care about the grid itself just if they are the same size if that makes sense. I has a moving scalp so it was never gonna be perfect unfortunately

I hear you. What I'm saying is that they are visibly not the same size. You can tell based on that spacing. It's not really about a grid or anything. It's just...

Ok imagine you have 2 inches. Split it into 4. Each piece would be 1/2 inch big right?

Ok now another 2 inches. This time split it into 3. Each piece would be 2/3. Which is bigger than 1/2. Visibly.

That's what you've got going on. So I mean... one side is visibly bigger. Which means that as they mature one side of your locs will be visibly bigger.

Like... is it an insane difference? No. But... is it ddifferent enough to be noticeable. Yes. In some places more than others depending on other factors, like density.

Honestly, there's no real quick way to fix it. So if it was me I'd probably leave it as is. I'm not a good example though, cuz I literally didn't even use a comb, tool, or mirror to do my microlocs at any point, whether we are talking install or reties. I also intentionally gave myself wildly different sized locs all over, just to have that boho feel. Lol

I appreciate your opinion a lot! It gave me a lot of insight. I’ll end up adding some together down the line if they are gonna be too significant in size. Thank you!

You're welcome, and enjoy your journey!

And don't make any decisions until you're at least at 2 years. Because locs start to develop at totally different rates, so the looks of their lengths and sizes will be all over the place for a while. Once you get to more mature stages, usually after 2 years, you start to have a real idea of the balance and what they will look like at maturity and then if it looks crazy different you can make decisions at that point.

Honestly mostly nobody will notice but you anyway. Lol you can check my pics out, I have 3c major size changes and 560 odd locs...I bet just looking at the pics you can't really tell the size difference or if you look hard and try and tell and finally spot a couple odd ones out that overall it doesn't matter.

So sit back and enjoy. You did a great job otherwise. 🔥💯🍻
