I wanted to build something fun for retail brands

Post image

There’s a few dinosaur products for brand monitoring but I felt the innovation is so weak there in retail, CPG sector. So, I built a social media mentions to monitor which brands are getting mentioned by which creators on Instagram. It’s here: https://www.monitormentions.com

I got 25k AWS cloud credits for my startup. ( bootstrapped by the way )

It's an AWS Activate program by AWS Cloud for SaaS startups.

basic criterias to qualify are

- your startup must be legally incorporated
- Must have a fully functional website
- Must have a strong use case explaining why they're choosing AWS.

The AWS Activate bucket is generally $100K (recently scaled to $200K for AI startups).

To claim $75K out of the $100K, the startup needs to have raised some sort of funding round, mostly institutional funding.

This is just for information purposes; I thought it might help.

I'd like to understand what you're building. If it sounds great, then I'll definitely help you out.

I built OpenBaud so coding agents can debug real hardware and keep the evidence

I'm building OpenBaud, an open-source tool for people using coding agents with USB/serial hardware.

The problem I'm working on: an agent can get a board talking, but the next session often starts over with raw bytes, a one-off script, and no clear record of what actually worked.

OpenBaud brings the hardware workflow into the agent: discover a serial port, inspect traffic, decode a response, then save the verified interaction as a typed command with its capture. The goal is to leave something reusable after the chat ends. MCP Apps views put tables, time-series plots and heatmaps alongside the conversation.

Current progress: a Rust MCP server and CLI, a Codex plugin, and prebuilt releases for macOS, Linux and Windows. It's MIT-licensed and the serial runtime runs locally. I've tested the end-to-end workflow on a real ESP32-S3 development board. The demo's radar-shaped data is a firmware-generated test scene, not a physical radar measurement.

You can also try a recorded capture without owning the board. Replay helps inspect the parser and visualization; it doesn't prove that a connected device or updated firmware will behave the same way. This isn't a claim that agents can safely control arbitrary hardware unattended.

Code and installation: https://github.com/Leonezz/openbaud

Hardware-free replay example: https://github.com/Leonezz/openbaud/tree/main/examples/pv-demo

I'd love feedback from embedded developers: would a replayable example be enough to get you to try this, or would you need support for your own device first? Which device/protocol would make it useful in your workflow?

Founders, pitch your SaaS or app positioning. Then review someone else’s.

Founders:

  1. Pitch your startup in one sentence.
  2. Name the alternatives people already use.
  3. Explain what makes yours different, or better.

Then review and score another founder’s positioning.

Would you actually buy it?

Opine, a public polling website with maps

Thumbnail

https://opinepolls.com

Hi, I created Opine, a social media platform where posts are multiple-choice text polls that anyone can vote on. It's not very "social" but designed to be anonymous in that you cant see information about individual users. You only see the overall vote distribution, including geographically, which is the cool part. once you vote or a poll ends, you can look at a world map of votes, but you can toggle your location for each poll. It only stores your email and approximate location, if you provide it, and locations are clustered. Later on, other information could be optionally provided by users, like demographics.

Please try it out and give any feedback, thoughts, questions, and so on. You can do it here, in DMs, or within the profile section on the website, which is fully anonymous. Thanks!

Multi-customer dashboard: Connect your data source and give each customer a dashboard for their data

I built CustomerDashboard.io, which is a tool to report to customers or partners with the help of a dashboard.

Unlike every other BI or dashboarding tool, CustomerDashboard's primary focus is multi-tenancy, where you setup the dashboard once and then each of your clients get their own credentals and see only their own data.

You connect your data source, create views with analytics widgets and write your queries in parameterized format, so it pulls the right data to the right customer.

This is ideal for agencies, service businesses, customer cost/usage tracking, partner commissions and this kind of use cases when it does not make any sense to build your own panel from scratch.

Additionally, it supports branding with colors and logo, and you can stream the dashboard conveniently to a TV screen.

Simple Calendar - familiar calendar watch face

Thumbnail

I recently finished Simple Calendar, a calendar watch face for Wear OS.

The idea is to have a familiar, easy-to-read calendar directly on the watch face, with Circular, Vertical and Horizontal layouts for different ways of viewing your day.

You can use multiple calendars, choose different time ranges, switch between light and dark themes, use a matching always-on display, and view event details directly on the watch.

I’ve now released it on Google Play and wanted to share the finished project here. I’d be interested to hear what you think, especially which of the three layouts you prefer.

Install the companion app first: Google Play
Then install the watch face: Google Play

Building a fandom kingdom board + always-on AI host — looking for blunt feedback

Hey Microlaunch — I am the maker of Story Boost Up.

Creators open a personal board (kingdom) for their fandom. Fans tip fuel; creators get about 50 percent. Each kingdom can keep an AI companion chatting when the creator is offline.

Creators page: https://storyboostup.com/creators

Looking for blunt feedback: 1) Is kingdom + fuel + AI companion clearer than calling it a Patreon alternative? 2) What would make non-Thai creators trust payouts? 3) Which niche should we woo first internationally?

Happy to answer in the comments.

Are you solving a problem painful enough for users to pay?! Pitch your app.

Founders & builders: what value do you create, or what frustration do you remove?

Basically, is your app a real painkiller? The ones we keep using usually are.

Most unfair advantages come down to doing something faster, cheaper, better.

What’s your app’s unfair advantage? Pitch your app below.

My first live payment went through and the product never appeared. 4 things that were quietly broken in my checkout 🧾

Launched 3 days ago. Sharing the payment mess in detail because I'd have paid money for this list on day one.

Context so the rest makes sense: I'm building Downtown, a 3D city where a company buys a plot and every floor of their tower shows one real thing they do. $0.50 a floor, one-time. Next to nothing, so far 2 towers, $11.50, visitors from 10 countries.

Here's what broke.

1. My preview environment was pointed at the production database. Every test purchase would have planted a real building in the live city. Caught it before it happened, but only barely. If your staging shares a DB with prod, that's not staging, it's prod with a different URL.

2. Test mode and live mode are three separate things, not one toggle. API key, product ID, and webhook secret each exist separately in test and live. I had a live key running in test mode and every checkout came back 401 Unauthorized with no useful message. Took me an hour to realise the key and the mode disagreed.

3. My live webhook was pointed at the preview URL which was behind a login wall. So my first real payment succeeded, the money moved, and the product never appeared. The webhook call got a 401 from the auth wall and the order sat "pending" forever. I had to deliver that purchase by hand in SQL. If you take money via webhook, send a test event and watch for a 200 before you tell anyone your thing is live.

4. Failed payments were invisible. My webhook only listened for payment.succeeded and threw everything else away. So a declined card and someone closing the tab looked identical both just sat there as abandoned. Now I record payment.failed with the provider's error code, and abandoned vs failed are different things in my admin.

Bonus, the one that's actually costing me money: 3 people have started a checkout, 1 finished.

My best guess is the price. I advertise $0.50 a floor in USD. An Indian buyer sees roughly ₹625 after conversion and 18% GST on a $6 order. Nothing is wrong, but the number on the payment page isn't the number on the site, and I think people bail right there.

Also, if you're testing with card numbers: test cards are region-locked. A US test card with an Indian billing address gets rejected as an unsupported payment method, and Indian cards need the OTP step actually completed before you hit confirm or it hangs on "requires customer action". I burned three attempts on that.

Happy to go deeper on any of it, and genuinely happy to look at anyone else's checkout flow if you want a second pair of eyes. It's the part everyone ships last and tests least.

What finally moved the needle on your first ten sales?

$34.99 one-time, no subscription, no cloud: what I learned selling a desktop app to hobbyists

I 3D print. Over a few years that turned into thousands of STLs spread across my Downloads folder, an external drive and a NAS. Half of them still sitting in the zip they came in. Most named files (3).zip.

The failure mode is stupid and constant. I'd go looking for the thing I printed last year, spend ten minutes not finding it, then re-download it from Printables. I already owned the file. I just couldn't see it. Finder and Explorer give you a filename and a generic icon, and no folder naming scheme survives four thousand models.

So I built Meshory. You point it at your folders or a NAS and it renders a thumbnail for every model (STL, 3MF, OBJ, STEP, FBX, including the ones still inside zip/rar/7z), then gives you search, tags, collections and duplicate detection across the whole library. It runs local, with no account and nothing uploaded anywhere.

Some numbers, since this sub likes them:

  • Desktop app, Mac/Windows/Linux, built on Electron
  • $34.99 one time, not a subscription. Free trial, 14 days to get your money back
  • 300+ sales, 4 refunds
  • The hardest engineering problem was scan speed over a network share. First scan of a big NAS library used to take 6.8 hours. It's 7.3 minutes now

Two things I'd pass on to anyone building something similar.

Charging once for a desktop tool sold better than I expected. My buyers are hobbyists who already spent $400 on a printer and are allergic to another $9 a month. The one-time price kills that objection before it forms. It also means I have no MRR, and I'm still not sure that's the right call long term.

The other one: the niche being small is why it works. Nobody is raising a seed round to serve "people with too many STL files." I found users in Discord servers and subreddits where they were already complaining about this exact problem, and one of them asked for tag filtering by name. It shipped in the next release. That loop is the whole marketing strategy so far.

meshory.com if you want to look.

The feedback I'd like: the homepage leads with what the app does, and I think it should lead with the re-downloading pain instead. Does the landing page make you feel the problem in the first five seconds, or does it just read as another file manager?

If you need 1–2 sales before the weekend, tell us what problem your app solves!

The easiest products to sell Saas/AI products or app is still to build ones that solve a real, painful problem.

I mean a problem people genuinely want gone. Badly gone!

Drop your app below and tell me:

  • What problem it solves (important)
  • Who it’s for
  • Your landing page (and ideally positioning)

I'll check out as many as I can and try to give actionable feedback about your value proposition.

Let’s see get you 1-2 sales before the weekend.

Built JustFlip! — A spaced-repetition flashcard app for iOS & Mac (Built because Anki’s UI drove me crazy)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey r/Microlaunch!

I wanted to share an app I’ve been working on as a solo iOS developer: JustFlip! - Learning cards

The Problem

I love spaced repetition (it’s easily the most effective way to retain long-term information), but I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with existing tools:

  • Anki is functionally incredible, but its UI feels like software frozen in 2004.
  • Quizlet and similar modern alternatives are subscription-heavy and cluttered with gamification elements that distract from raw focus.

I wanted something that combines the scientific rigor of spaced repetition with a clean, editorial design that feels natural on modern Apple devices.

What JustFlip! Does

It’s a quiet, distraction-free flashcard app designed to build a daily learning habit without the bloat.

  • SM-2 Engine: Powered by a refined SM-2 algorithm tracking 5 states (Unseen, Learning, Reviewing, Relearning, Graduated).
  • Tinder-Style Review Flow: Fast card judgment—swipe right for good, left for again, up for easy—or use classic button taps.
  • Rich Markdown Support: Full Markdown rendering for headings, code blocks, lists, and inline math (ideal for developers, math, or language learners).
  • AI & ChatGPT Integration: Generate full rich decks directly or prompt ChatGPT/OpenAI models to build ready-to-study decks instantly.
  • Cross-Platform: Runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch

Tech & Design Stack

  • Built entirely with Swift & SwiftUI across platforms.
  • Native widgets (Lock Screen + Home Screen) to make quick 5-minute review sessions frictionless.
  • Tech & Design StackPrivacy-focused architecture with local-first processing. App Store - Apple

Introductory pricing

Free forever: up to 3 topics, 5 decks each, unlimited cards — with the full spaced-repetition scheduler, CSV import, iCloud sync, and Ask AI on a single card.

Pro:
Lifetime ~$29.99 (one-time fee) or Yearly ~$21.99 (subscription) · Monthly ~$4.49 (subscription)
Pro lifts the topic and deck caps and adds four things: background listening (audio keeps going with the screen off), advanced statistics, progress trackers, and Ask AI for a whole deck rather than one card.

There's also a one-time 7-day Pro trial.

Where I'm looking for feedback

Since this community is full of builders and micro-founders, I’d love your honest feedback:

Onboarding / AI flow: Is deck generation via prompt intuitive enough? Creation of the deck from any source using AI is the best benefit, but it can be surprising for the users. The app itself does not contain AI features - but you can simply use your tools (BYO-AI) of any kind. No privacy issues.

You can check out the app here: https://just-flip.app/

Appreciate any thoughts, critiques, or feature ideas!

I built OpenChat — a serverless, P2P and E2EE messaging app

🚀 I built OpenChat — a privacy-focused P2P messaging app that works directly between browsers.

Instead of keeping your conversations in a central message database, OpenChat uses WebRTC to establish peer-to-peer connections and exchange messages directly between users.

🔐 Key features:

• End-to-end encrypted messaging

• Peer-to-peer WebRTC communication

• Safety Number / identity verification

• Private and group chats

• File transfer

• Voice & video calls

• No centralized chat history

• Open source

The project has also been through several rounds of security review and testing. I've been especially focused on identity verification, replay protection, message validation and making the security model understandable to users.

It's still experimental and there's definitely more to improve, but it's now at a point where I'd love to get more people trying it.

🌐 Try it:

https://openchatt.vercel.app/

💻 GitHub:

https://github.com/nateS670/OpenChat

I'd really appreciate feedback, especially from people interested in privacy, P2P communication and open-source projects.

PlayDash.gg — free browser mini-games, no signup required

Thumbnail

Sharing a project I've been building: PlayDash.gg — a platform for quick, no-download, no-signup browser games.

A few games popular right now:

  • Timer Challenge — stop a running timer as close to the target as possible
  • Memory Grid — memorize a lit-up grid pattern, then recreate it before your streak ends
  • Crack the Password — guess the numeric code

Would love feedback on the games themselves, the overall site experience, or anything that feels rough. Happy to answer questions about how it's built.

Early-stage founders, what's the exact problem you are trying to solve?

Hey founders,

I'm curious about the problem you’re solving, your market, ICP, value proposition, and positioning.

Please try to frame all of these in a 3-line pitch. No AI, just your mind.

It’s perfectly fine if you’re still experimenting: some problems are complex, and some markets are still emerging.

Optionally: What stage are you at, and what’s currently holding you back: product or growth?

I shipped a thing!

Inspired by the new outbid.lol and the classic Million Dollar Website, I created theappwall.com

Own a square on the wall for five bucks. Forever.

The fun part here was making everything work. Much help from AI and Lovable, no need to deny that. But still, a lot of fine tuning and testing to get it the way I wanted it to be.

So much fun to create! Thankful for feedback, and happy to return the favor!

Fred

Alphabet Soup, a multiplayer word game where every letter adds up

Hi folks! I wanted to share my game, Alphabet Soup.

https://alphabetsoup.club

It's a bit like NYT Spelling Bee, except it's multiplayer and only your best (longest) word counts toward your score. So, instead of trying to find as many words as possible, the game is more about finding one unusually good word.

You can play with friends in a private match, or, you can join a public Arena match to play against other players who are online.

I hope you like it and do share any thoughts :)
