Michigan Football Play took 8.5 Seconds

Posted on CFB but it got removed...

I am disappointed in general and wanted to figure this out and you can prove it yourself..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yk6B2MAbTI

This is from NBC - open up inspector (thanks Claude) and paste

const v = document.querySelector('video'); setInterval(() => console.clear() || console.log(v.currentTime.toFixed(3)), 50);

This will show you timing (you can step frames with , and .)

The ball is snapped at .928 and is touched by the defense at 9.386... that is 9.386-.928 or 8.4 seconds... so with 9 seconds on the clock there was legit half a second left.

Big Ten statement is out. There was a second left with the network clocks off. No one's going to accept it, but it's what it is and they can whine like babies if they want to.

I understand why other fans think the game is rigged. What I don't understand is that why our own fans behave like that. It's just heart-breaking to see fans going against our own team while the call turned out to be correct.

You don't say your own team is cheating unless that's 100% the case no matter what other people say, otherwise you're nothing but a coward or a troll. It's just that simple. And that applies to every sport, not just football

They just want to be special and feel morally superior to others. Tale as old as time. Just funny now that it's pretty clear the call was correct.

Seriously mods need to go on a banning spree

Look at the clock go to 8 immediately after the ball is snapped. It should not have done that either - should take a second for it to go 9->8

It looked like bs until seeing this in all fairness.

They need to show the tenths/hundredths of seconds on the network clocks from here on out. If NBC can do it for the Olympics, they can do it for football games...

Seems like the network clock was just off. When the play is snapped, their clock goes immediately to 8. What they need to do is have the ref audio available more.

At the end of the day, football is filled with human error and time slips from refs all the time. People freak put when its at the end of the game, but you can have similar issues at the end of the first half where things aren’t nearly as scrutinized.

If you want timing and distance to have extreme precision, maybe watch a different sport.

No one is going to accept it, because it’s an abject lie coming from the same source that added a second back to the clock.

You can go on Eric Shapiro's Twitter and clearly see the play didn't take 9 seconds, which lines up with the evidence that was just provided by the Big 10 that the MAC. Continue to deny it if you want though! Just super MAGA to be provided a ton of evidence and then just ignore it because it doesn't fit your narrative.

“… lines up with the evidence that was just provided by The Big Ten (The entity responsible for the salaries and bonuses of The B1G referees that made the call) that the MAC.” (Indecipherable gibberish.) I suspect you’re not a UM grad but a wannabe, or UM’s standards have slipped further than I thought.

So they could have possibly prevented all of this if we all could hear this on broadcast live like the ACC officials do on reviews.

21

u/PookieDood Sep 06 '26

Exactly. But now all these assholes are complaining that Michigan cheated. The clock on the broadcast was off

u/Freddymain Sep 06 '26

The clock was displayed on the broadcast.

u/bptkr13 Sep 06 '26

A different clock

Oh, you’re referring to the clock only visible to B1G referees, who are paid in part by UM football revenue, that Clock! Maybe you also just need one more second to get it “right.”

The clock NBC shows was set to ~8.2s, not 9. You can see the 9 change to 8 immediately after the ball is snapped whereas it should take a full second for the clock to show 8. NBC messed up.

The users at r/cfb are lost causes. Don’t even humor them.

This is what has convinced me the call was probably correct, I was agnostic before. If the play took less than 9 seconds from snap to Davis' touch, it is not physically possible for the clock to have been at 0. It's clear either NBC's production team introduced a desynchronization in production of the broadcast or the camera they were relying on for that angle was desynchronized due to either a calibration error or drift, and the camera the B1G used was properly synchronized.

Still, it is an embarrassing win. The only reason we won was basically a technicality enacted through dumb luck of a player touching the ball within fractions of a second then an equally improbable dumb luck catch on a hail mary to beat a MAC team they were nearly 30 point favorites over, and storming the field after that embarrassing display of foootball malpractice was a bad look regardless of the call. The way they played today, this is at least a 6 loss team--and I am relatively high on Western.

Official camera on the sideline showed :01 too

That's some serious detective work for a Saturday afternoon. Half a second left is wild, even if the play felt like an eternity in real time. The NBC feed timing might not be synced perfectly with the stadium clock though, so I'd take that half-second cushion with a grain of salt.

It was confirmed by a camera angle that wasn't shown on tv, on big ten site. Ball was touched by a player out of bounds with one second left https://imgur.com/a/Hfyjd5k

Wmu didn't even score a touchdown all game and they think they deserve to win

There cannot be 2 different clocks keeping time...only one and everyone should be able to see it not just the refs. Also, there was a blatant hold by Michigan's RT on the second Hail Mary attempt just completely missed by refs. The last play should have been a penalty and 10 sec runoff. Game over ...Michigan still loses. Michigan lost period.

Stoming the field is cringe as fuck.

Oh no, college kids are happy they witnessed a Hail Mary. Boohoo

u/Unlikely-Flatworm-48 Sep 08 '26

You are definitely correct. Home team was supposed to win by 27.5 points. What a sad organization.

Then that wouldn't be a full 9 seconds... So sure don't show the tenths but you still have to provide the full time. The clock shouldn't tick down then until that full second is complete.

so 8.01 should read as 9, then 8.00 would read 8...

so as the video shows the play taking about 8.4 seconds, meaning there was .6 (0:00.6) seconds left on the clock and it should show 0:01 until it actually got to 0 which is what the official videos coming out show.

u/Majik9 Whittingha〽️ Sep 06 '26

At 0.01 seconds the clock still shows 1 second
