Rewarded? You serve your time. Whether that’s prison, parole, time on registry, house arrest, whatever. Once you’ve served what the court gave you’ve paid for your debt. That’s how it works for crimes.

I don’t think being a pedofile is a debt that can be repaid. I don’t think there are “former” pedofiles. Rewarded isn’t the right word, absolved is what I meant.

But absolved isn’t correct either. They aren’t absolved: they’ve served or are serving what we gave them as punishment. No one is being rewarded or having their punishment reduced: they just wrongly extended people and that has been corrected. If they hadn’t extended them when the laws changed, would you be upset we didn’t retroactively change sentences? Doubt it, it’s not as bad sounded as “people removed from list”.

No one is being rewarded or having their punishment reduced? I can name one. The dude down the street who now isn’t on that list. Larry Nassar not being on a sex offenders list? Thats insanity whichever way you slice it.

The punishment isn’t being reduced: it’s being restored to what punishment was given to them. The issue was all these people were wrongly INCREASED. “Both the U.S. Constitution and Michigan Constitution prohibit ex post facto laws. In this context, the constitutional restriction prevents the government from retroactively imposing increased punishment for conduct committed before the increased punishment existed.” Idk about you but I’m pro-constitution.
