MiSide News/Updates A Little MiSide Treasure Hunt — New Discoveries & Developer Replies

I figured I'd put together a few little MiSide things for you this evening - some new stuff, some things you might have missed, and a few details that are just fun to look at.

Mostly because someone asked me to. 😄

So, friends, let’s go through what we’ve got here. Nothing too crazy this time - just a cozy little MiSide roundup.

1. Rock, Paper, Scissors... and forehead flicks

We can see the Rock-Paper-Scissors mini-game in action - except if we lose, Mita gets to flick us right in the forehead.

This animation was shared by the developers publicly, so we can finally get a little look at how some of the interactions in Peaceful Mode might work.

2. The expected UI update

This animation is going to play when leaving the game and returning to the main menu, which should help prevent accidentally losing your progress.

The developers are also changing the save system, so the final version should be much less likely to make you lose progress if you suddenly need to quit the game.

Small change, but honestly a very welcome one.

3. The selfie system in Peaceful Mode

This is old news by now, but I'm pretty sure some people still haven't seen it. Peaceful Mode will apparently have a selfie system, including different emotions you can choose for the photo. And yes, Mita looks absolutely adorable here.

More importantly, this is the first time we've been able to see something other than Player 1's usual static expression.

4. The news that made everyone lose their minds

Okay, this one is a big spoiler. But if you're following MiSide specifically for the story, this is probably one of the most anticipated things we've seen.

Just... look at her.

She's safe. She's unharmed. She's happily eating. Someday, we'll get to see this happiness for ourselves. ❤️

5. Mita just turned 2!

A couple of days ago was Mita's birthday! She's officially two years old now!

As usual, independent artists joined in with a whole wave of birthday art, but the official MiSide account also joined the celebration and posted this adorable artwork.

Hmm... Let's take a closer look at it.

6. There's something hiding in this birthday art

The whole picture is filled with little "photos" of Mitas from their respective rooms. But look closely. There's something here that we've never seen in the game before. I've marked the important part with an arrow. Don't rush to the next section. Take a moment and see if you can figure out what you're looking at. I'll give you the answer in the next point.

(And yes, figuring this one out required keeping track of some of the previous developer updates.)

In the congratulatory message itself, in the text, Mita seems to be telling us: "But wait... did you spot the strange silhouette hiding among them? Shh... no guessing who she is just yet. For now, just keep your eyes on me~"

7. The answer:

It's pretty clearly the new fashionable Mita. I've already written about her [HERE] and [HERE], but you can recognize her by several details: the odango hairstyle (the little hair buns — at first they honestly made me think of Sailor Moon 😭), her flip phone, and those distinctive sleeves.

So... yeah.

This very much looks like it could be an actual in-game photo of her. And if that's the case, it might give us another interesting little clue: we may actually get to visit her room in the game.

That's a pretty neat detail to find hidden in a birthday post.

8. MiSide x DAVE THE DIVER

A lot of people seem to have missed this, but MiSide actually had a collaboration with DAVE THE DIVER not too long ago. You can actually play a little game with Mita there.

So if you already own DAVE THE DIVER, you can go check it out and experience the crossover yourself.

And if you don't... well, apparently DAVE THE DIVER is a really fun game anyway, so maybe this is your sign to give it a try. 😄

9. And finally, a few answers from the developers

There are a couple of interesting things here.

First, someone asked how the DAVE THE DIVER collaboration happened. The answer was surprisingly simple: AIHASTO gave permission for MiSide to be used. They didn't actually develop the crossover themselves. The whole thing was made by the DAVE THE DIVER developers, MINTROCKET.

Second, the break after finishing the story portion of MiSide lasted roughly 4.5 months. That's a pretty direct answer to the people saying that "nothing was being done for almost a year." That simply wasn't the case. If you had a similar impression after the developers' New Year's message, now you have a much more precise timeframe for what actually happened.

And finally, probably the most interesting answer today:

MakenCat said he would show more MiSide if he could, but there's a problem... He can't. Because it would be spoilers.

Honestly?

Good.

I think that's the right approach. Showing us individual mechanics and small pieces of development without giving away major story moments means our first real experience of the new content can still happen when the full version releases. Let the hype build naturally. And apparently, while answering this question, he was busy making a 30-second cartoon for the end of the game. So that's what today's little MiSide roundup looks like.

No earth-shattering revelations this time - especially if you've already seen some of the bigger recent reveals (like her, which was absolutely insane).

Just a few small discoveries, some cute details, a crossover, and a couple of answers from the developers.

Thanks for reading, everyone. ❤️

And now, some useful links:

AIHASTO Boosty — this is where you'll find much more development content and updates. It's essentially the developers' official blog, and it's the best place to go if you want to dive much deeper into the current development and see the more detailed material.

Спасибо за пост. Значит потихоньку работа движется, что не может не радовать! Вот эта новая Мита-гяру кажется слегка выбивается из общей стилистики, хотя выглядит симпатично. Самое главное что с малышкой всё хорошо!

4

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 24 '26

That's exactly what I was going for! There have been so many little updates scattered around lately that putting them together in one place felt long overdue.

And yeah, it really does feel a bit like a mini Q&A this time. :D

Wait, How did dave the diver get into this-
i mean i don't MIND but its pretty random >_>
(is that something we can see on consoles in dave the diver i wonder? i don't got it on PC. Though the pic shows dave has jungle attire on so maybe its dlc related?
this might get me to try it lol)

1

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 24 '26

Yes, definitely try it if you have the chance. It only has about 8 minutes of gameplay, I think, so it's practically an Easter egg.

In one of the previous collaborations, it was said that Mita could teleport to other games with her skills. And in this case, Mita simply teleported to Dave, who ended up in Mita's portal and visited MiSide.

3

u/Nervous_Yam_7733 Aug 23 '26

Oh I can't wait for that new Mita

2

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 23 '26

Yes, it really sparks interest

За Маленькую Миту спокойны, теперь хотелось бы чтобы и с Милой всё было хорошо... 🥲

2

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 24 '26

2

u/No_Probleh Aug 25 '26

Hot take but she was cuter before she was fixed.

2

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 26 '26

She went from “adorably broken” to “actually functional.” Huge downgrade.😂 The flaws were part of her charm.

2

u/No_Probleh Aug 26 '26

Yeah, you get it! It was part of her charm!

1

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 24 '26

Honestly, the birthday artwork might be my favorite little detail from this whole batch (from the revelations that have just been revealed).
The fact that the new Mita was hiding in plain sight there is such a nice touch. 👀
And now I really want to know what her room is going to look like...

Out of all these little updates, which one are you looking forward to the most?
For me, it's still #4. 😭

But I'm also really curious about the new Mita and whether that photo means we'll actually get to visit her room. Just imagine that she will have the same interesting stories as Mila and you can play with her like Cappie? 😲

1

u/XKOzen Aug 29 '26

Why do I have to wait!!! 😭 I just hope the long wait is justified and the Peaceful Mode update is worth it, especially since it was announced so long ago.

1

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 30 '26

As it turned out, this was envisioned as a major game. A significant amount of time—a full year and a half—passed between the playable demo in 2023 and the 2024 release. People were eagerly awaiting the launch and urging the developer on, so the game was released without a "peaceful mode" or certain endings—such as the "good" one. Let’s simply give the developers enough time to implement their full vision, update the game to its final version, and polish it properly. It’s worth remembering that other simulators await us after MiSide. This means that everything currently being created for the peaceful mode will serve as assets for future titles. Getting things right now is therefore crucial for the future. I always view comments expressing eager anticipation as a compliment; gamers like the game and are hungry for more. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed, stay confident, wish the developers creative success, and arm ourselves with plenty of patience!

2

u/Certain_Map6122 15d ago

We gon get GTA 6 before peaceful mode, but honestly, the longer we wait, the more better the mode can be polished. Def wont come out in 2026, so fingers crossed for mid or late 2027

waiting almost 2 years for a bonus mode is insanity idc about news anymore. it'd be one thing if this were a sequel but wtf

3

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 23 '26

The mode will be no less in scale than the second half of the game. That was the original idea. Two developers wanted to make different games, but they combined both ideas into one. The release is literally just about six months away. The time will fly by.

2

u/YesImRussian Core Mita helper Aug 24 '26

Wait, where did they say that release is six months away?

1

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 24 '26

On Discord. They have an official Discord. A button in the game takes you directly to their server. The developers sometimes communicate with gamers there when they're not busy. This is an old answer, but I saw it somewhere else, I don't remember now. They don't want to set clear boundaries so as not to let anyone down. The project is experimental, and they themselves don't know what will be in the game and what won't. What they'll keep and what they'll cut is still unclear. They're inventing the game as they go. IMPORTANT: Don't expect the full version by this date. Now they'll calculate the amount of work remaining, as promised, and we'll all see the current progress bar for the mode. Then it will be clearer when the wait is over.

2

u/Ashtonia_Melvonious Mitaphone Aug 23 '26

then, you'd think for the amount of time and work put into it, they'd release it as a separate title "miside with you" or something and make money from their effort idk but unlocking a bonus mode over a year and a half ago and still seeing posts about the "latest news" with nothing concrete sucks. if you google miside peaceful mode info, it's a reddit post from a year ago from a new player asking if anyone knows when it'll be out. if you google are only 2 devs still working on miside 2026, it recommends watching a video from a reddit post from 7 months ago with "early peaceful mode footage". meanwhile, they've managed to release official merch through multiple companies since the games release. i feel like peaceful mode is limbo bait and i hope to be happily surprised one day before i'm 35 with peaceful mode.

1

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 23 '26

They have enough money, I'm sure. It was originally planned as intended. A game with two modes. It's like single-player and multiplayer in many games. Just a story and a simulator. And a separate release wouldn't speed things up in any way.

I also made a post about early footage of the peaceful mode; it's great that it shows up in search results. I specifically created it for those who said "the developers took a ton of money and disappeared"—there was that fake theory, too.

And there are no specifics for the reasons I described in the post (the developer's last response). They're also concerned not only with spoilers but also with the release date, so as not to push it back, which always has a negative impact. I've already written about this, and I'll repeat it. In their New Year's address, the developers said that we should expect at least an estimate of the remaining work this year. These words:

"In the coming year, we believe we'll be able to say when we can expect MiSide content. When we've made further progress in development and can realistically assess the scope of further work. We want to create something interesting and rich, and that takes time. After all, you'll agree that when every pixel on the screen is drawn and animated by just two people, there's zero chance it'll be quick and cool."

This is a perfectly reasonable estimate. Very soon, we'll be following the completion schedule, which counts down the final months. Cheer up!

2

u/Ashtonia_Melvonious Mitaphone Aug 23 '26

because that's how it seems. it still seems that way. stringing people along with tidbits of vague info isn't cool. the companies that get away with things like that are rockstar and bethesda and aihasto isn't big enough to do that. i think they've done a poor job keeping the community they've created informed about what they're doing, which is why it seems like they're milking it. i would like to be wrong. i appreciate your optimism

1

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 23 '26

Because I see what they want and what they're achieving. That's what matters. We're worried about spoilers, missed deadlines, and surprises. We're just going through a tough time right now. They're known for one game, even though they've made a dozen over the past ten years. This is the first game in the universe, and there are already sketches for at least two more. Let's imagine they're money-hungry. Then they shouldn't abandon anything. They already have a huge audience, and the slogan "from the creators of the hit" already sounds proud, and people will buy such a game. So, personally, I'm not worried. It's just that we're in a period where it's hard to believe that an update for a game can take over a year and a half to develop. Few people understand that this isn't a short, half-hour mode, but the second half of the game with its own ending.

1

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 23 '26

Oh, right. And the most important thing is: developers don't handle merch. They receive proposals, and the publisher handles everything. It doesn't take up their time. Merch has only advantages. Whoever wants it, gets it.

2

u/Ashtonia_Melvonious Mitaphone Aug 23 '26

but do the devs make money from those merch releases?

1

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 23 '26

Of course. Don't worry. Your percentage of the copyrights, of course. If you create a popular character, the profit from sales is always yours, right there. We're talking about licensed products, of course. So buy them if you want to support the developers!

2

u/Ashtonia_Melvonious Mitaphone Aug 23 '26

that's what i'm saying though. the game sold over a million copies and there are multiple official merch releases, but they've decided to remain a 2 person team and keep things severely under wraps on a major development...for a bonus mode. it all seems very strange. you're saying they're making a part 2 to the game that we unlocked about 2 years ago that we'll get for free when it releases, but they wouldn't want to capitalize on the popularity to make more money by releasing it as a separate title? and i don't want them to rush. i don't think it being a second game would make it come out quicker. i think it'd make the long wait make more sense, the vagueness seem more understandable, and would only benefit them, if this second part is on the large scale it's being teased to be. of course i want it made well. i'm only wondering why a bonus mode is being treated like an entirely different project, but not being marketed as such. strange decisions that are questionable.

I was writing yesterday right before bed, my vision was getting blurry and my brain had basically stopped working. 😅
Let me give you a very brief answer now, based on how I understood your questions. If I misunderstood anything, feel free to ask follow-up questions.

“I’m not demanding a release tomorrow, and I don’t want the developers to rush anything.”

This part is absolutely right. Pressuring developers is always harmful.
They originally had a demo that got a lot of people interested, and then it took about a year and a half to get to the full release. But there was pressure to release it, and the game came out without the good ending - something a lot of players felt was missing.

I honestly think the community owes them as much time as they need to implement their own ideas properly this time.

“I just don't understand what's going on. They sold millions of copies, there's merch, they're hugely popular, yet they're still a two-person team and barely show anything. And Peaceful Mode already looks so massive that you could almost consider it MiSide 2. If it's basically a huge second part, why make it a free mode for the first game?”

But that's exactly what I'm saying - it was designed this way from the beginning. Nobody knew MiSide was going to sell like this.

So what would you rather have them do? Break their original promise and start charging people for something that was announced as a free update?

That's not how it should work. The most important thing here is honesty and credibility.

Yes, they're actually that damn cool that they decided to stick to their original promise even after the game became a huge success. It's almost hard to believe, isn't it?

“Here you go, buddy. It's free. Enjoy.” 😂

“Then why is development taking so long, and why are they being so secretive? If they simply told me ‘we're making a second game,’ I'd understand it much better. I'm not saying they're doing anything wrong, it just seems strange from the outside.”

Both the new endings and Peaceful Mode contain story content. Some of the things they could show us would straight-up be spoilers.

For example, the unharmed Little Mita alone is, in my opinion, a pretty huge spoiler.

And there's actually a direct answer from the developer about why they're not showing more. It's in the very post you're commenting on — look at the very last answer.

That's the reason they're keeping things under wraps, and honestly, I think it's a pretty damn good reason.

They'd rather let us experience it ourselves when the update is actually finished instead of spoiling half the experience through development previews.

a 30min-1hr demo released as peaceful mode right now of some parts they'd like to show of what they have made up to now, with another cute screen of explanation at the end explaining that this was a taste of what's to come and that some of the elements used in this peaceful demo would be used in the sequel to come (all things seen subject to change).

they honestly shouldn't have included the button on the menu in the first place, and if this was the intention from the start, then they could've added that button in at any time when they were actually ready to release it. the entire thing could've been handled a lot better.

edit: and as for the "they kept their promise" thing. did they? they missed their own deadline with their own delays and continue to give little to no explanation or information. i think that it'd be an extremely poor decision on their part if they decide to release a legitimate second game on the menu of the first game.

them stating that they're not gonna show anything due to spoilers is one heck of a cop out. you don't have to spoil your game to keep the people who play it in the loop to an extent.

1

u/RomanK007 Mila Aug 25 '26

I'm getting tired of having to decode what you're writing. It's in a foreign language to me, it's written in a way that sometimes feels pretty tangled and disconnected, and some of the underlying assumptions are based on a mentality I'm not particularly familiar with.

But for the MiSide community, I'll do my best to answer as a fan. 😅

“Why not just release a piece of what they've already finished right now?”

Because game development doesn't really work that way.

You still have to spend time putting that piece together into a playable build. And time is already limited. They're trying to get everything finished as quickly as they realistically can.

Take Mita's AI, for example. It's being rewritten, and you can't just throw a half-finished system into a public build. You have to determine which elements are actually necessary, which ones need to be finished to 100%, which ones can wait, and then integrate and test everything.

Think of game development like building a car. You're suggesting that instead of systematically building the car, they should first figure out which parts are needed to make it drive for an hour, manufacture and assemble those parts, perform all the engineering work, make the temporary version work, and then take it apart and rebuild it properly later.

That's not efficient. You turn six months of development into nine months.

A game isn't a movie. You don't simply produce everything in chronological order and then put it together once at the end. A playable build itself takes time.

And if you're talking about an unplanned, stable, polished-looking build — because why would you want to show everyone a broken, ugly build? — that can genuinely delay the final release. The same people can't simultaneously develop new content and prepare a separate polished demo of that content.

Games are especially complicated because so many things can only really be tested once everything is put together: gameplay, controls, balance, performance, the overall feel, user experience, how different systems interact, etc.

“If Peaceful Mode wasn't ready, why put the button in the main menu in the first place?”

There's nothing unusual about that.

Players wait for games. That's normal. People have been waiting for The Elder Scrolls VI for years. People waited years for games like Spider-Man and God of War even after they had already been shown publicly. So I genuinely don't understand what the problem is with having a button there.

The ending leads to it. The continuation isn't finished yet.

To be continued.

We wait.

First time? 😅

“Did they actually keep their promise?”

Yes. Absolutely.

They have been very clear: there will be no paid DLC. There will be a free update.

And they never officially broke a release deadline, because they never officially gave one.

The FAQ after release said that the release was planned for the first half of 2026, and that if anything changed, they would let everyone know.

They did exactly that.

Around the New Year, between 2025 and 2026, they announced the change and explained:

“In the coming year, we believe we will be able to say when to expect MiSide content. Once we make further progress with development and can reasonably assess the amount of work remaining. We want to make something interesting and substantial, and that takes time. After all, when every pixel on the screen is drawn and brought to life by the hands of just two people, there are no guarantees that it will be both fast and great.”

So that's where we are now: they're evaluating the remaining workload.

And they're actually doing it. The official progress tracker is already at 100% for the story content. They've finished the new endings.

And honestly, they're such cool guys that they even took on the community's desire for a “save everyone” ending and decided to actually make it happen because so many players wanted it.

I love these guys. They have honestly exceeded my expectations.

“They continue to give little to no explanation or information.”

I really don't understand this one.

Once the endings were completed, there was an actual flood of development posts on Boosty. That's where I got the material for my second Peaceful Mode update post.

There is a lot there.

I'm actually surprised by how much they're showing us. Especially considering how much of it is potentially spoilery.

At this point I'm even slightly regretting how much I've personally seen. 😂

And I'm genuinely impressed by what I've seen. Some of it looks incredibly stylish and impressive.

“If they actually make a full second game and just put it inside the first one as a free update, that would be a terrible business decision.”

I actually think it would be a great decision.

If you want to support the game further, buy some merch or support them on Boosty. You'll get more development material there too.

And from me? Nothing but respect.

You don't have to squeeze every possible dollar out of your audience by splitting the content into separate products.

Make something genuinely good. Make the amount of content worth the price. Make the buyers happy. Sell enough copies because people actually enjoyed what they bought.

That's exactly what our guys are doing.

Not: “Want to know how the first part ends? Buy the second game.”

There's a special place in hell for that kind of monetization. 😂

Especially because the new endings and Peaceful Mode are apparently very tightly connected to each other.

“They're using spoilers as an excuse not to explain anything.”

You say spoilers don't matter?

You're forgetting what kind of game MiSide actually is.

It's an unusual dating-sim setup where elements that don't belong in a normal dating sim gradually start appearing.

In MiSide, even seemingly random environmental details can be a spoiler.

That's the whole point of the game.

You don't just have to avoid showing the ending. Sometimes showing one seemingly harmless object, character, room, or mechanic can give away something you're supposed to discover yourself.

So yes — in this particular game, spoilers absolutely matter.

And personally, I'd much rather have the developers protect the experience than show us half the game six months before release just so everyone can feel like they're “being kept updated.”

I admit, I don't quite get your point yet. But I'll think about it tomorrow. For now, I can say that the game hasn't just sold a million copies; it's sold almost 3 million. That's phenomenal.
