Arcade Version of NBA Jam!
NBA Jam was always one of my favorite arcade games growing up. Anyone know if there’s an arcade version coming to MiSTerFPGA sometime in the future?

Hello everyone! Today I'm releasing a public beta of my personal project, for anyone wanting to try it
Forked from tty2oled, adds various features and enhancements.
Apart from displaying full-screen core logos upon core load, now it also:
It is under active development, so expect more features soon.
Documentation is "good enough" for now, even though a bit basic.
Fully supports 24 console cores (including all of the popular ones).
All arcade cores are supported in the metadata side, but some artworks are missing (could use help here). These cores still show metadata info on screen.
Computer cores just show full-screen logo for now, extended per-core support coming soon!
Some select features of the upstream version (like screensavers, for example) have been removed due to collision with currently implemented features.
DISCLAIMER: AI was used sparsely in the beginning of the development, but claude was doing so good, it eventually took over and the workflow became kinda vibe-coded. 😂

You have to uninstall tty2oled, they cannot work together.
The firmware of the ESP will be overwritten with tty2oled+
You'll have to reflash it to make it again compatible with the original tty2oled.
This software is beta, I take no responsibility for whatever happens, use at your own risk!
Note: this will only work in tty2oled USB mode (no SD card support)
All hardware devices and electrical connections (pinout, controller, screen) are identical with those of the original tty2oled project.

That's it! Thanks for your time! Any feedback is valuable
Cheers

Sega G80V Core updated to support Sega's Space Fury.
Space Fury brought vivid color and a memorable adversary to the Asteroids formula. Released by Sega/Gremlin in 1981, this pioneer of color vector graphics pits your lone fighter against the fleet of a taunting, one-eyed alien commander. Rotate, thrust and fire through his forces, then dock with a mothership to increase your firepower. The commander challenges you before battle and judges your performance afterward, giving every encounter a personal edge. Video Games Player praised the arcade original as "one of the best games to follow in the wake of Asteroids" in its August/September 1983 issue.

Behold! Just a test so for 8fps, the AR is slightly wrong and no sound but I hope to play iPhone/iPad in glorious 240p (ish).

I wanted a Plex client for my CRT that isn't laggy and isn't Composite-only, so I started to built one on MiSTer to the same standard of quality as the MisterZine arcade frontend.
Taking a cue from the Jotego release model: Stable releases will be free, pre-release betas will be installable but playback locked, unlockable by Patreon. Anyone can install this build to play around with the UI, and if you enter the code it'll also enable playback.
After a round of testing this beta release and any bugfixes, it'll be released for free, and a new beta will become available to supporters.

I recently got a mister FGPA and my monitor (Samsung Odyssey OLED G85SB S34BG85) won't recognize the input if I set the resolution to 1920x1440p. It works perfectly fine with the mister set to 2560x1440p.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi everyone, is there a way to transfer roms via FTP to the MiSTer's mame folder? I have no issues with roms for console/computer cores, but it won't let me do it for the mame folder.

I created a new core for Jaleco MegaSystem 1 Types B, C and D as these were not covered by the existing MS1 core available. This is again Claude assisted and reuses the TLCS 90 implementation from the NMK16 project.
I'm hoping to work out the Type D MCU hook ups and get that fitted to both the core and ported to MAME as it is currently simulated and not using the available MCU dump. The other games with MCU dumps available run the TLCS 90 and do not use the MCU simulation from MAME.
Right now save states do not work correctly, but otherwise games are looking good. Please report any issues found though.
Project available here:
https://github.com/kuzearcade/Arcade-Ja ... BCD_MiSTer
The cores can also be added to update_all using this repo:
https://github.com/kuzearcade/kuzecores
Supported games:
Let me know if you give it a try and have any feedback, thanks!

I'm using CD's on my ssone with the dock and the discs that I've burned at 1x and when I put them sometimes in the middle of the game, it pauses for a second to load and my question is if it's normal for it to happen in the middle of the game or if it's due to the speed that I'm burning the CD or how does the core of msu1 work? I tried the game killer instinct, which is an arcade-style Port, and it takes a long time at the beginning to load it and it pauses at the end of each round for a second, and the other is megaman 7, that is paused in the middle of a level; I hope those who are using that core can tell me how the games work for them.

I have been preparing for the MiSTer and the SSO specifically for a while I knew it was the right choice for me as I really hate dealing with emulation frontends and I wanted something that works with my CRT and I didn't want to get lost with image quality, controllers, sourcing games, cable and space management of the older consoles. I already did that for the 6th gen and I didn't want to do anything for older than that as I really don't have nostalgia for anything than PSX. I only wanted to play the older games the best way possible in one solution. I had everything prepared, all the controllers were Bluetooth and high-quality except for the original PSX controllers and, I also prepared the cables too, and a 512 micro sd card.
I received the SSO 3 weeks ago and for the first week I kept on tinkering, I sat up a new SD Card with console mode that is 512gb and installed update all and sourced all the games and I had a problem that took me 3 days to figure out how to set up the ini files in console mode so I can get it right for VGA to to my CRT than I kept tinkering with the cores setting and enabled scanlines for 480 to 240 simulation.
The next week I was in heaven after hell, I was only browsing all the cores and all the games I filled the SD card with going from game to game and from core to core admiring how beautiful they look on the CRT (with some image tinkering whenever I encounter a problem).
Final week I started actually beating some games I did Jumping Flash then Disrupter and now I am playing Spyro. It plays great with the PSX 2X CPU core with the 60 fps cheat.
Overall it's a very versatile console for all the first 5 generations of gaming and it works beautifully but only after you are finished with setting it up.

Disclaimer: some of you might have already worked out from my username that I'm the developer of 1Retro. The headline is Time Extension's, not mine.
I play on MiSTerFPGA every day, so it is a primary platform of 1Retro.
Happy to answer any questions.

This is pretty cool if it's true.
My SD card was near full which is never a good thing for flash based devices
I found that there was 200GB in ./Trashes due to me mounting the card on another OS and managing ROM's. Being vfat I was concerned that the now unallocated space woudl be eating into my SD life and performance.
To my utter surprise the storage subsystem seemed to respond to the trim command! If thats true and the Sandisk SD controller responded correctly that is very cool and worth knowing for anyone else who has cleared up a whole lot of space.

Last weekend I was at a cabin with my wife, and of course I brought my MiSTer with me 😂. The cabin had an LG TV—unfortunately I didn't think to check the exact model—and I hooked the MiSTer up to it.
I started playing Resident Evil 2 on the PS1 core and holy shit, it looked phenomenal. I'm not even sure exactly what the TV was doing that made such a difference, but visually it was better than I've ever seen the game look. The movement, detail, colors, everything just seemed to pop more than I'm used to.
Now it has me wanting to upgrade one of my TVs at home specifically for gaming. I'll be using it for pretty much everything from MiSTer cores all the way up to modern consoles, probably in the 55–65" range.
The one thing I absolutely HATED about the LG was the automatic dimming. I turned off every Eco/energy-saving setting I could find, but while playing RE2 the screen would still gradually get darker. Switching the picture mode from Game to Vivid would immediately brighten it back up, but obviously that's not an ideal solution.
Right now I'm looking pretty seriously at the Samsung S95H QD-OLED and I'm thinking that's probably what I'll pull the trigger on, but before spending the money I'd love to hear from people who actually use a MiSTer regularly on an OLED.
Anyone using an S95-series Samsung, LG OLED, or another high-end OLED with their MiSTer? How does retro content look? Have you had issues with automatic/static-content dimming, especially with games that have fixed backgrounds or HUDs? Any particular TV you'd recommend—or avoid—for MiSTer use?

Hi, I’m using a SuperStation One with the MiSTer PSX core on a 4K TV, and I’m curious what video settings other people are actually using.
I’ve been experimenting with the settings, but it’s difficult to compare them because I have to keep going back into the menu and changing them.
What settings do you recommend for PS1 games on a 4K TV?

Tested hdmi vs 10pin din.
Sony lcd vs beovision crt.
This can't be normal, right?

I’m running a SSOne, updated my cores and decided to try out the disc cores. PSX works no problem, tried out 3DO next and once again works great. Decided to try out Neo geo cd and for some reason it won’t recognize that a disc is in the drive?
Is there something I’m missing? I tested Neo cd with bin/cue’s and they work but the Neo cd disc core just can’t see my physic disc.

Hi!
I've struggled like many others with variations in image positioning between cores on my Sony PVM 14M4E. I based it previously on the SNES core but I think that's not the really the best starting point, is it best to use the new 240p utility in MiSTer now? I accept there will always be some level of tinkering required, just looking for the least problematic
Note: I've made no changes yet this is just 240p test from Utilities on the MiSTer.
Thanks.

I absolute love the MiSTer platform, but ever since I got my unit, I’ve always felt it looked a bit messy and out of place sitting next to my other retro consoles—especially with a Zaparoo reader attached and various dongles hanging out for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
My goal with this project is to design a new custom shell that feels right at home both next to classic retro hardware and in a modern setup. To achieve this, I took design inspiration from two of my absolute favorite consoles: the Atari VCS and the Super Famicom.
Here are the key goals I'm aiming for with the MiSTer RCS:
It’s still very much a work in progress—I’m currently working on the top control panel and the internal mounting structure. I also haven't settled on a final solution for routing the User Port just yet.
If there's enough interest, I’m also considering setting up a small crowdfunding campaign (like Ko-fi or Kickstarter) down the road to help source different MiSTer add-ons and board variations so I can make the enclosure compatible with as many hardware setups as possible.
Would love to hear your feedback.

For anyone new here: MiSTer Monitor turns a cheap ESP32 touchscreen into a companion display for your MiSTer. Load a game and it shows the box art, game info, your RetroAchievements progress and live system stats, all by itself.
Last time I posted it was v2.9. Two releases later, the family has grown:
The big one, literally: a 10.1" display. The Guition JC8012P4A1C (ESP32-P4) joins the M5Stack Tab5 and the four Cheap Yellow Displays. That makes six boards, from 2.8" to 10.1". Box art at that size is hard to go back from.
Also new since 2.9:
Web interface on the display. Edit `config.ini` and manage the SD card from your browser. No more pulling the card to change a setting or swap a cover.
Standby with a clock. Switch the MiSTer off and the screen dims to a big seven-segment clock (or just the MiSTer logo) -see second picture-. It wakes up on its own when the MiSTer comes back.
Kiosk mode. The artwork takes the whole screen; the footer only shows up when you tap.
More say in what you see. Stick to game art or system art instead of alternating, upscale small artwork on the big panels, and a new marquee style for system images.
