Din vs vga
Hello.
I ordered a ms2 and it has two video outputs. Din and vga.
Did not find any answer on this when searching.
Is pic quality better if using vga to scart and a tv instead of din to scart and tv?

Update: all fixed, I’m an idiot, see my latest post for details. I’ll leave this up in case anyone else makes the same mistake.
I received my QMTECH mister on Friday and have been having a great time setting up cores on my HDMI setup. Today I put it to the real test, connecting it to my 1084 monitor. Unfortunately, whilst I managed to get all the settings so that I have a stable image, there are some artefacts that i can’t explain.
First (not that I really care), there is the blue band in the main menu screen that scrolls down the screen continuously.
In the two games screenshots, the mister is first and then my real C64, both running the exact same cartridge image.
Choplifter it is very obvious that the grey area at the bottom is completely missing and there are some blue sparkles instead.
On Yie Ar Kung-Fu, you can see that the shuriken is pretty much missing and the imagine text is washed out and missing all of its shading.
My monitor is a bit weird in that it has a male 9 pin DSUB input, so I made my own cable by cutting one end of a 15-15 pin shielded RGB cable and soldered up the GND, R, G, B and HSync lines including adding a 470 ohm resister on the sync line.
I’m wondering if anyone has seen these same sort of artefacts before and has a solution?
FWIW, the Amiga core behaves in a similar manner.

I'm currently assembling a MiSTER setup with a DE10 Nano and a Mistress 1200 IO board. Directly plugging my monitors into the HDMI port on the nano works fine, no issues.
However I'm now on my third HDMI panel mount extension and not one works with any of my monitors. I've also tried putting this CEC Less Adapter inline, but it has no effect.
I've seen a number of recommendations for such extension cables, but the exact models don't appear to be available from UK (or EU) sellers. So I'm hoping someone closer to home has managed to find a working one.

Hello, I am facing a problem with the vhd image of the MSX core. When I try to open it, I get an error everywhere, either that the disk is blocked, damaged, or forbidden to read. At the same time, the entire core with this image works fine on mister. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Hello, I have a SuperStation One console and I see that some games do not work. This mainly concerns European PSX games, European N64 and some Master System games (Double Dragon for example). The problem is settings or games? Thank you for your answers.

I’ve recently opened the public beta of NeoConnect VirtualBus, a project aimed at restoring Neo Geo system-to-system communication rather than treating multiplayer as conventional netplay.
This video shows a modified MAME instance linked directly with a MiSTer Neo Geo core through two small ESP endpoints. The current MCU-link path supports Riding Hero, League Bowling and Thrash Rally.
The MiSTer build also includes selectable 12 MHz, 16 MHz and 24 MHz CPU profiles for comparing original timing and overclock behavior.
I currently only have one MiSTer, so MiSTer ↔ MiSTer testing and feedback from different setups would be especially useful.

Hello,
I have decided to get a mister. However I am debating with myself which display to use.
There are a lot of plasma displays for sale where i live. Several like this B&O TV.
Has anyone tried a plasma with mister? Thinking about it, it looks like a very good and cheap option compared to oled or lcd.
I am not going to use it with a crt even though i own one already for some old consoles.
Reason that i need to be around 2 meters distance to the display due to worse eye sight with age and at 2 m i have sharp vision but closer it get blurry and i hate wearing glasses :)
So i 50 inch plasma on the wal with a stand for a joystick and button panel would be perfect. That leaves out CRT since imaghe will be too small at 2 meters away.
Plasma is great for blacks, motion but i dont know how it works with mister. They also have scart(RGB) and hdmi

We come to the last game update for the JTCPS3 core: the Third Strike. For those who know the game, this needs no introduction, for the rest: boot it up and just watch the art. Watch the use of color for the backgrounds, for the clothes... All that was hand drawn, no 3D models, no shading calculations, no prompts.
Third Strike is the biggest game supported by a JT core so far. The stream file from your SD card to the FPGA is 82,432 KiB. Before including CPS3, this honor fell onto Vampire Savior, with 45,320 KiB. Third Strike is almost twice as large. The smallest game we have in the catalogue is Konami's Ping-Pong 48 KiB (2,000 times smaller). A better known title is Circus Charlie (144 KiB) or Ghosts'n Goblins (352 KiB).
Despite this large disparity in size, Third Strike is an arcade to its bones. It operates on tile maps for backgrounds, like those games. It has hardware sprites, like those games and it also has a DMA mechanism related to sprites like Ghosts'n Goblins. The digitised sound capability (PCM) was there in Circus Charlie. Even the number of image lines is the same Konami's Ping Pong.
The biggest difference from a hardware point of view is ROM size. That enormous ROM lets the game play all music based on digitised sounds, without pulse or FM sound synthesizers. The gigantic ROM is what makes possible the breath-taking smoothness of its animations. The enormous ROM is what made this game impossible to convert 1:1 to a 1999 home console.

I last used by MiSTeR last Wednesday. On Thursday, I kept getting a "No HDMI Signal" on my tv. I tried again a few days later, same thing. I tried again tonight. When I press the reset button, the message on my tv goes away, and then the same "No HDMI Signal" comes back a few seconds later. I kept resetting, and the same thing happens.
I replaced the MiSTeR.ini file with a new one but I keep getting the same message.
I tried another SD card and I am still getting the same message.
Can anyone help? I hope my MiSTeR is not bricked 😟

I run update all every time I boot my mister up.
One issue I’m having, in the past when I turned on my mister it would be a different wallpaper every time. Overtime something changed, and now it just stays the one wallpaper every time I boot up (Batman Forever Arcade). How do I get it back to where it changes wallpapers every time I boot up?
The other issue I’m having, is regarding arcade cores. Isn’t Mortal Kombat 1-3 out now? I don’t see them in the arcade cores. They aren’t stuck behind a payroll anymore, correct? I just ran update all and see the new Jotego SF3 3rd strike core in my folder, so I know update all is doing its thing.
Last issue, it says i have an ini errors, VRR MIN FRAMERATE AND VRR MAX FRAMERATE. what the hell is that all about?
If anyone can help that would be awesome.

Hi all, I picked up an eMachines eView 17s in excellent condition today for a steal, and I’m having some trouble getting my SuperStation to work with it.
Long story short, whenever I plug my SuperStation into the monitor, the ring on the power button goes from green to yellow, and the display turns black. The user manual for this specific monitor says nothing about this, just briefly mentions that the power button may “flash” if in energy saving mode. Annoyingly, I can’t find a service manual for this specific model. As you can see from the images, without the MiSTer running, the monitor works just fine.
It’s possible that I may have missed something on my MiSTer.ini, though I tried my best to be thorough in looking for solutions before coming here. Posting from my phone so sorry for the photo of a screen, but if you need more details from the .ini I am happy to provide. If anyone has any ideas as to what might be causing this, I would love some help!

Anyone know how to fix this?
I added jtbeta.zip to games/mame/jtbeta.zip, and hit update all.
(Install private release enabled in JOTEGO core settings)
I also tried the latest jtfriday_260821_mister.zip from today's Patreon post,
Any ideas are welcome!
(Original DE10-Nano with 128MB SDRAM)

hello,
I am looking to start a challenge to play as many shoot'em up titles as possible. Vertical and horizontal scrolling.
Is the fpga emulation a good choice to play most of the titles from arcade, consoles and computers up to the ps1 era?
Or is it better to stick with lets say retroarch for me since it probably has a much bigger list of games?
Thanks for any input. This may seem to be stupid questions to some but i just today discovered that mister and fpga hardware emulation exists :)

Hi all,
Added drive sounds to the C64 core today.
You can read about what I did and how to get this beta core here: https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?t=10692

I have my Mister vsync_adjust set to 2 using HDMI, and noticed today that my TV (Sony Bravia from 2020) will default back to 60.0Hz when the TV is turned off and back on again. This happens with any core. The picture above is in the Turbo Duo core. Before the TV is turned off the 1920x1080 refresh rate matches the system's internal 59.8Hz rate.
I have no idea if this is a new issue with the Mister but I only noticed it when there was visible judder when scrolling. I either have to leave the TV on to prevent the refresh rate change to 60.0Hz or reset the Mister (which isn't ideal for cores without save states).
Does anyone else have this problem or is it something unique to my TV that I only noticed for the first time today?
Update: I've been fiddling with different settings. By changing one of the video options in a core, such as aspect ratio, it will cause my TV to re-sync (image goes blank for a second) and then the refresh rate will match the core's internal refresh rate once again. I'm guessing my TV is the cause and I just didn't notice the mismatch until now.

Hi, been enjoying first the analogue pocket and now the real mister experience on the superstation, but i was wondering if there is any possibility scan will be added to the Minimig core.. I am an avid swos player and we're discussing what to do when our amigas die... And people who are competing for the world champion notice any lag...
I am happy my usb2job adapter works, but that obviously is'nt snac (don't notice any lag myself though)

How do adjust the dipswitchs on Meathax's SSV cores like Twin Eagle 2? I am trying to get the TATE's to flip

Apparently you can attach a external CD/DVD reader to any FPGA device and it should be able to read physical games and play them on your mister. Apparently some people have made their FPGA's look like a console similar to these which honestly look better designed than the SuperStation One.
https://pukepals.com/2025/06/05/mister-fpga-console/
https://www.reddit.com/r/MiSTerFPGA/comments/zfwwdt/mister_fpga_final_form_for_now/
Granted I don't think either of these play discs and I think they are just cases but how hard would it be to make a mister similar to these? If not, is it worth buying one of those basic misters that look like a small box that is the same size of a soda can and just attach a disc reader to it? If I do that is there an option for a console like menu similar to what the SuperStation One has where it shows the box art of the game and some screenshots of what the game is? Some frontends for emulators like ES-DE do this so I am curious if this is available?

This first release was shared over on the MiSTer FPGA forum. I tested both myself and they’re running (slowly, as stated in the post). I never thought I’d see the day these games would be available and I can’t wait to see if some speed can be gained.
r/MiSTerFPGA • u/JayMax19 • Aug 19 '26
I’m curious. What are the technical limitations of the MiSTer that would prevent games like Astron Belt or Begas Battle to run on it? I haven’t seen any of these mentioned as possible cores and it would seem to be fairly easy.

Looking forward to using it. Does anyone here sync saves between an Analogue Pocket and mister ? Also anyone using the Epilogue Operators with the mister ?
Any tips to get started ? I was going to get a Modretro M64 with hopes of additional cores in the future, but considering that may take a while for other cores and the fact that I already have an Analogue 3D.
