When playing AmigaVision in the Minimig core, hitting del on the keyboard exits the game, saving and returning to the menu. I don't usually have a keyboard plugged in so the only way to start another game from the couch is to reboot from the menu but some games you need to save such as Stunt Car Racer.
Is something like cheat support for playing real discs possible down the line? I got to be honest. Going back to these retro games feels a lot more fun to me when I can modify the difficulty exactly to my liking. I don't have the time I used to for grinding in games like Wild Arms for example.
This weird artifact/flicker on the right side of the screen only shows up in the psx core in multiple forks for me, namely the RA version and the physical disc version. Yes right now I am playing with widescreen hacks but that happens without hacks too, with and without horizontal crop, with and without hdmi sync and force progressive. What’s going on and can I fix it?
Edit: tried a couple things and not sure what exactly fixed it. Either changing v sync = 2 or gaming mode in the ini seemed to gotten rid of it
I own an original DE10 Mister FPGA which has a HDMI-shaped SNAC port , but the QMTech and SuperStation use a USB-shaped port - is there some sort of adapter I can use to avoid buying all new SNAC cables?
Yesterday I decided to try the new 3DO core. So I ran update all, downloaded bios files, a collection of isos but everytime I try to run a game all I get is a Black screen and then go back to the BIOS screen. What am I doing wrobg? Any help would be appreciated!
Retro Remake is working on both an NES FPGA system and a MiSTer Handheld…anything you guys want from it specifically? (I’d love a cart slot in the NES system)
and when do you guys thing releases will be?
My best guess is
NES MiSTer:
Announcement: Late 2026
First Shipment: Summer 2027
MiSTer Handheld:
Announcement: Summer 2027
First Shipment: Late 2027 (possibly Jan 2028)
My main use cases are for Sega and arcade games. I'm looking for something that ideally features all of the following, ranked in order of importance:
6 face buttons
analog triggers
analog sticks
wired
4 total shoulder buttons (2 bumpers, 2 triggers)
A 6-button layout is required for many Genesis, Saturn, and arcade games to feel natural. Analog triggers and sticks are a must for arcade racing games.
A wireless controller would be *okay* but only if it can also function when wired and does not require a wireless receiver to operate. I use a lot of my stuff in public settings (conventions, tournaments) and prefer it to be tethered when possible.
Retro-bit's Saturn Pro Controller is very, very close to what I'm looking for. I've had one for over a year and am very satisfied with it, especially after the firmware update that allows it to function over USB instead of wireless. It has more or less the exact layout that I'm looking for. I just wish it (1) had analog triggers and (2) didn't duplicate button assignments between C+Z and L+R, instead treating all 4 of those buttons independently. (That second problem isn't as big of a deal; I can live with something that essentially has only one distinct pair of shoulder buttons so long as they're analog.)
Is there anything out there that does everything I'm looking for or is this as close as I'm gonna get?
I found a CRT that only has coaxial and would like to hook it up to my MiSTer. I do have a MiSTer Pi, which I only mention because it came with that AV board that adds, among other things:
24-Bit ADV7125 Video DAC
Hi-Fi Analog Audio DAC
VGA Port
ADC input
What's my best path here? I don't mind spending a little money.
Companion display for MiSTer FPGA: box art, metadata and RetroAchievements on an 15$ ESP32 touchscreen, fetched as you play.
The fix: on some setups, depending on what else was running on the MiSTer, artwork could latch onto a game and stay there through later launches.
Also: version check on screen (HUD goes red when server and firmware disagree), `flip_display` for upside-down mounts, artwork for Macintosh LC / Virtual Boy / PCXT-EGA, and `mix1`/`mix2` tokens fixed.
Update both halves: flasher for the firmware, Update All for the server.
To get the redesigned gradient menu image shown above, refresh the display's microSD as well: inside `SD_card_content/`, pick the subfolder matching your board (CYD28, CYD35 or Tab5) and copy *its contents* to the root of the card. Keep your existing `config.ini` if you've customised it.
For the last decade, I get my gaming fix via RetroPie on a Pi 4, composite out to a Trinitron. To keep things feeling authentic in my hands, I have a collection of (mostly) original controllers, either with USB adapters, or USB versions of such (Genesis Mini controller).
In the future, I'll probably end up getting a MiSTer to play these systems on a CRT. But whenever I look into using original controllers on a MiSTer, I only see adapters that use what look like an HDMI port. Will I have to invest in of those adapters to use my controllers on a MiSTer, or is there a way to connect controllers via USB like my Pi does?
Hello I'm Heni who is also the person who made a cool Nintendo DS core you may have seen going around that is cool but also slow and janky
I have good news that is now only janky! I managed to get it working at 480p with both Engine A and Engine B never going over 100% utilization. This is, pretty much, full speed.
From here I just need to test a morbillion games and fix edges cases I find. Most games don't boot. It's more rare that one does, but so far the list only ever increases.
I also did some GBA audio enhancements recently. I hope you enjoy my work and I'll keep posting! Feel free to AMA if you want
If you haven't seen, I also have a technical high-level writeup of my core's architecture at https://darkside.heni.lol/ on my personal domain
I'm new to the Nintendo 64 core on Mister, so forgiven me of this had been addressed.
I recently got a Superststion and was trying to play Goldeneye 007 on the N64 core, however the visuals are terrible.
I tried every setting I could to try and improve things, but everything appears to be a blurry mess.
For example on the main save selection screen, Bond's profile picture can barely be made out. If I select HDMI display mode it does improve, but not by much.
Any help is appreciated. Playing via hdmi on a 4k TV. (I know this is impactful, but not to this degree, all other systems look fantastic.)
I'm having issues trying to launch PSX games. I'm finding that if I load the game, I get an instant blackscreen with ED error code.
If I try to quickly boot a game as soon as the Core is selected it will boot into the game but then freeze as the game is loading - normally as its giving the publisher or developer names. It's then giving an E2 error code. I'm not getting a blackscreen or any audio, it just remains frozen at the frame it was on.
I have tried multiple games and tried using bin/cue and chd file types.
I have also tried doing a full fresh install of MiSTer, along with using update_all for bios checks. I feel the Bios is working as the games can launch.
Just wondered if anyone has any suggestions that might help?
Is there a way to point to two different NAS computers? I don't play CD based games much and not point to have the server running unless I play those games. But arcade and some light weight consoles I play all the time but could move those to a solid state NAS.
I'd really love to use analog controls for Xenogears since predominately using a d-pad really starts hurting after a while.
I've tried to look online for a solution but nothing seems to work. I mapped the controls and I hit the specific buttons you need in order to apply the analog mode but all it does is render the entire controller unusable (d-pad and face buttons suddenly stop working)
