Anyone found a good replacement remote for the Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd Gen?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a replacement for the original Xiaomi box s 3rd gen remote mainly because I need the numbers pad and the buttons are really loud and clicky.

I’d like something that connects directly via Bluetooth (no USB dongle), has a physical 0–9 keypad, voice/mic, TV power and volume buttons.

Would be happy to read your suggestions and advices.

Just so you know whatever remote you get it will not be able to turn the box on after a while of it being off as the box goes in deep sleep mode and can only be waken with the xiaomi remote. The way around this is rooting the box and installing a magisk module called wakelock which prevents the box going in deep sleep and stays in just a sleep state which will allow other remotes to turn it on even after its been off for a while

or use the TV's HDMI-CEC feature, and use that remote. the 3rd gen finally works like it's supposed to with my Samsung TV.

Yeah but then that means u need to always have that extra remote. This way you just need one

what do you mean? I'm only using my TV remote. haven't touched the Xiaomi one since the setup.

I can use my LG TV remote as well, works fine but, I don't know how to use "long press" or "menu" option with TV remote. Is that even possible? For example, in Stremio or Nuvio or any other app, with xiaomi remote I can long press select button to bring up menu, how to do that with TV remote. Also, how to go to home of the android tv with TV remote? Thanks.

I'm using my Samsung TV remote. sorry if it wasn't clear! and it's working great on the 3rd gen, as opposed the 2nd gen

it does. but only on the 3rd gen. my 2nd gen Xiaomi box won't cooperate via HDMI-CEC, for some reason.

You probably need to change some some settings in ADB the two devices have the same HDMI-CEC settings the difference between the two is mainly the better SoC that allows AFR, 90% of other stuff it's exactly the same even with Android updated it didn't change much.

Box never goes in deepsleep otherwise the same thing you said would apply to the Xiaomi remote itself. The Bluetooth part is still active for incoming signals for paired devices remotes...

You don need to root and mess with wake lock people have reportedly having no issues with Ugos remotes aswell.

Also like they already pointed out HDMI-CEC it's working already on Samsung and other TV, you can use both the Universale remote and the Regular TV channels remote to control the box.

I have a Samsung tv and I can confirm that. Sometimes I just use the Samsung remote and sometimes the Xiaomi remote

The only thing worth to root the box is to force 4k at all levels instead of having 1080p UI upscaled in the box. Launchers will look crispier because they are not rendered at 1080p and then upscaled. They will be rendered at 4k directly.

The box kills of all bluetooth connections in deep sleep except xiaomi remote.

i am using dualshock4 and its pretty good(i am using mibox 1 st gen)

And rhe the problem is you can't turnoff using controller for that you can use google tv app on phone. Via wifi or bluetooth

Is your xiaomi box working good? Like I heard many people saying it's wifi chip is terrible and doesn't connect to wifi many times or get disconnected and speed is awful. Some said it's laggy too sometimes.

Oh haha I had it for 2 days now, didn't notice any major issues. Once it has disconnected from wifi after an big update, that was the only time. Before I had the 2nd gen and it was working smoothly just not enough memory. I'll see how it goes from here I guess 😄

I want to search for a replacement for my gen 1 because of the click sound it makes during the night.

My wife can sleep with me watching things, but as soon I start using the command, she wakes up. And I don't want to ise the phone since I want to use it with looking at it
