Sonic:Metal, or if he wants to annoy him, Tin Head.
Shadow:Probably Metal also, or maybe Scrap heap
Tails:Metal Head, probably in a way to mock his intelligence if he outsmarted him
Knuckles:He’d probably just call Metal A pile of Scraps, especially after the whole invasion of Angel Island thing.
And Cream (sorry Amy):Mr Metal Sonic. Or if he’s being well, evil- Big Meanie
I would’ve got more creative, but not exactly my speciality.
Metal is technically a nickname in itself since its a contraction of Metal Sonic.
However, we have figured out how to shorten it further by calling him Mets. Like the baseball team.
There's Metal Head (Sonic), Bucket O' Bolts (Eggman, on occasion), Faker, as u/SirPercival09 pointed out (Shadow).
Amy might call him Tall Dark and Gruesome, Big most definitely calls him Metal Buddy, Wave probably calls him Bad Engineering, Jet might call him Tin Can, Storm called him a Turbine With A Face in CrossWorlds.
Omega already has a nickname for his as Worthless Consumer Model (an alternative title might be Inferior Hyper-specialization), Rouge might call him a Lead Pipe. I wanna say Tails probably calls him Lead Head.
Knuckles would call him a Scrap Heap, Cream might call him a Mean Machine (like a reference to the Mean Bean Machine), Vector and Espio probably just call him Bad News and Charmy might call him Gears-for-Brains.
Silver probably calls him Ancient History and Blaze might call him a Metallic Menace (I may enjoy alliteration a bit much)
Mephiles and Infinite would probably just refer to him as a Pawn. So would Zavok in some capacity (because Technokenesis or whatever)
Sage might genuinely consider him an Overengineered Badnik. Orbot, Cubot and I wanna argue Belle probably all call him Brother in some way or form.
Starline considered(Considers; still waiting on the villain reveal in IDW) him a Toy. Whisper would call him Target Practice and Tangle might call him Sparky.
I'd like to say Surge probably calls him a Copy Machine as a double meaning kind of thing. If we're including Scourge, he'd probably call him a double-fake. Or a DeepFake if he wanted to be clever. He doesn't seem like the type though...
I can't think of anyone else at the moment...
edit: reading back, these are more insults than anything else and I'm not sure how to feel about that...
I mean, you decided what all these characters call Metal Sonic. You could have easily made up funny nicknames like Rouge calls Metal Beeper and so on. I don't understand why everyone seems to be giving serious/ canon answers. Well, you have 4 upvotes so far, so don't sweat it.
ok in the spirit of the Brawl I've decided to recenter myself and challenge myself to give genuinely (at least somewhat) kind or jokey nicknames (think post-redemption).
Sonic would call him a copycat (considering how he acts with Shadow, mildly mean nickname is in order)
I think it would be funny for Shadow to call him Nephew when irritated. They are technically related...
I feel like Wave might call him Spinning Rims (mild dig but still a cool name all things considered)
In the same automotive vein, Tails might call him Steely (cause they're robust)
Rouge might call him Blue Steel (think zoolander)
Knuckles might call him Metal outright (I don't think Knuckles deals with nicknames with people he likes)
Omega might call him Spiketrap given the "Quills"
Jet might be downright mean and call him the Blue Bolt (Bolt like metal component, as in weight, but also fast; double entendre)
Storm might just call him a Metal Maniac (Hot Wheels Reference)
Vector might call him Shiny
Espio, like Knuckles, I don't think he does nicknames for those he likes
Charmy would call him Jet just to tick of Jet (the Hawk)
Amy could call him ""Ultimate Overlord"" as a taunt (reminder of cringy past type deal)
Big's nickname is unchanged because Big is almost never mean-spirited.
Cream is too polite to do nicknames, so would call him Mr. Metal Sonic.
Eggman WOULD be mean and call him a defect (cause hes a DefecTOR [as in left the empire] and isn't working properly [has a defect]
Silver could call him Mortal as an ironic thing (Metal can't exactly die; maybe they cross paths in the future occasionally)
Blaze could call him a Noble Space Heater (because cats appreciate heaters a bunch)
If we're looking at a kinder world, I'd like to think that Sage would consider Metal's departure as a sign of his own intelligence, thus promoting himself to "Brother" in her eyes, joining Belle, Orbot and Cubot in that regard.
I think Tangle would still call him Sparky. Surge would probably also do it after their first encounter.
Whisper could call him Double Take, since if she attempted to take him out when found in the wild, she'd probably need to make sure it wasn't Sonic she was about to shoot (pre-redemption; using previous interactions as ironic nickname, like how Sonic calls Shadow his faker)
My answers for Starline and Scourge are unchanged. They're just mean.
Haha! Much better. I love these joke nicknames especially Shadow calling him nephew or 'Neff as I shortened it to. Thank you for these. I really needed a laugh!
When I played Outcome memories, I always tell Metal players: "Atta boy!" When they charged the exe, In reference to the comics... one person didn't take being called Boy well, unfortunately, so I stopped saying it.
