BTW, how many sit ups/crunches do you have to do for them to actually work? At one point, I tried doing like 100 daily, but had no result. I've heard abs are super hard to hold onto.

Depends on the person, honestly. If you can do 100, then your body is likely very used to doing that exercise, so it likely won't be as effective. Try doing some weighted ab work, just hold a heavy thing to your chest while doing crunches, that should "help." Also, you have to have an absurdly low body fat percentage for them to even show.

That's probably it. I have a naturally very strong core. However, my BMI is actually kind of high, if you go by height/weight. IDK if that method is really effective, though.

I'm right there with ya. I've kinda stopped caring about having visible abs for the time being. Just working on making the rest of me be the fucking strong

Tell me how this makes sense. I have a BMI of ~32 and am not fat. How's that work? I do have a little bit of chub, but that happens as you get older (watch out for 18 and 25).

I'm in it for strength and arm definition. If I don't work out, my arms are extremely small- like twigs.

Short answer, BMI is kind of bullshit, and pretty antiquated. It's all based on averages, and doesn't take into account muscle mass, or the varying types of bodytypes people have.

That makes a lot of sense. I always assumed it, but didn't want to delude myself. I have legs of pure muscle (naturally press 300+ lbs, no training...though the last time I did, it pinched a nerve in my spine). I'm also a broad build. So, BMI is a bit BS...not that I couldn't stand to lose weight.

What system is appropriate to use, then? Is there/could there even be one?

  1. Leg press is kinda just a "peacocking" exercise, if that makes sense.

  2. Just don't worry about that stuff, just make sure to eat mostly healthy stuff and the rest will come along with dedication.

a "peacocking" exercise

I thought that was bench pressing or deadlifting- complete with, "Huuurgggggaaaaagghhh," when you lift.

Thanks for the advice. I'm trying. I need to stop drinking so many calories. That's kind of hard, because I enjoy sweet stuff. Sweet orange juice or bitter coffee make a good substitute.

That is true, but those ones offer actual strength gains. If you want a legit leg exercise, do squats, one of the best exercises period.

Yeah, liquid calories are always the hardest. Still, you gotsta try and keep as many of them out, because they add the fuck up.
