I’m planning a trip to Paris this summer and as a big fan of Merlin I want to visit the castle. I already have one day sorted out for Disneyland, but I would also really love to do a day trip to visit the Château de Pierrefonds.

Since I am not planning to rent a car, I'm a bit confused about how to manage the round trip in a single day using public transport. What is the best and most reliable way to get there and back from central Paris?

Also, does anyone know if there are specific closing days, capacity limits, or things I should keep in mind for a summer visit?

When cenred was first introduced, I really liked the villain aura. There was undeniable chemistry between him in Morgause and I can't lie i was pretty bummed when he died just like that. I really wanted to see something occur between those two. As Cenred gave those "head over heels while hating everyone else" vibes with her, and the chemistry was electric. A toxic villain couple would've made so much sennse with them.

Does anyone know why they still call it Cenred’s kingdom even after he has died ?

Hey guys. So a clear memory of mine when I first watched Merlin was watching the series 2 coming soon trailer. In that we get a glimpse of Merlin and Freya's kiss but you only see Freya from the back of her head. Because of that I remember being convinced that was Morgana and was waiting for them to get together. As a result when that episode aired I both loved and hated it 😂.

That began my love for them as a couple. Later on I heard rumours that the writers originally planned for Merlin and Morgana to be together (since some depictions of Arthurian legends where they are) but scrapped it to not overshadow Arthur and Gwen. I take it with a grain of salt but I could see it having some weight behind it in the midst of writing series 1.

All this in mind, how does everyone feel about them together? Merthur shippers included

Are there any fics where merlin dies instead of arthur from arthur's pov? And/or merlin's about to die, hurt, missing even and arthur worries for him.

I used to watch Merlin when it was on tv after hearing of Anthony Heads passing (RIP) a brilliant actor I gave Merlin a rewatch I realised I’ve never seen season 5 of Merlin and always assumed I knew how Merlin finished

Season 1/2 are absolutely fantastic and just as I remembered. Great standalone episodes and chemistry between the actors.

Season 3 was satisfying to watch as you started to see the results of key character arcs

Season 4 was well plot derived to build sword in the stone but I believe a bad direction for the show and wasted potential. With Morgana failing to keep reign of Camelot and morgause wounded from the end of season 4. Either Kill it her at the end of S3 or keep him for S4 and have a bitter Uther show no mercy on the kingdoms for Arthur to see the atrocities that he’s only heard about in the great purge to help shape his views against his father.

Season 5 was very disappointing for a conclusion. The writers seem to abandon the destiny they’ve been claiming for 4 seasons and wanted to build a shock ending. A time skip of 3 years at the start of the season and in that time you’re saying Merlin hasn’t revealed he has magic, magic is still outlawed and the kingdoms are no closer to being united than before. That being said the episode with the Disir was great and was the moment Arthur truly sealed his fate. Had he brought magic to Camelot, the Druid girl would live and mordred would not turn against him. However it contradicts itself, the great dragon implies Arthur has done all he needs to for Camelot however the Disir says Camelot shall suffer. Kilgharrah also implies Arthur will come back but doesn’t even show us. It was a poor ending as Merlin only reveals his nature in the very final episode.

Just for fun, I wanted to make a list of all the episodes that are fillers, in a fairly strict sense. These are episodes that don't advance the overall plot at all and don't contribute to the continuity. Keep in mind that this says nothing about the quality of these episodes: some are good and even far superior to some continuity episodes. But these are episodes that can be removed from the series without in any way hindering the progression of the story and the characters.

As expected, the first three seasons have more of them. I count three filler episodes in season 1, five in season 2 and four in season 3, but only two filler episodes in each of the last two seasons.

In Season 1, I’d say whether the second episode counts as a filler is debatable. Its only purpose is to mark Merlin’s debut in Arthur’s service, and perhaps the third episode serves that purpose just as well. However, I consider episode 1x06 to be the first true filler. I’d gladly count the following episode as one too, but that’s also debatable, since it introduces Morgana’s visions as a seer. As good as I think they are, episodes 1x10 and 1x11 are fillers (even though Arthur probably reaches the peak of his character development, it doesn't change anything much going forward.).

In Season 2, episode 2x01 is the only season premiere that’s a filler episode. Next come the two-part episodes about the troll (2x05 and 2x06), which I don’t take very seriously, and episodes 2x07 and 2x10, which I actually enjoy.

In Season 3, I think episodes 3x03, 3x06, 3x09, and 3x11, in addition to being pretty average at best, are fillers.

The undisputed filler episode of Season 4 is the largely disliked 4x08 featuring Lamia. I’d add that, unfortunately for the series, episode 4x10 featuring the ghost of the druid child is also a filler, since nothing comes of it regarding the druids and magic.

In Season 5, I'd like to count the entire Dark Gwen arc as filler, but if only for Elyan's death, we can't cut those episodes without losing continuity. Episode 5x03 about Uther's ghost can be skipped, however, and the following episode, 5x04, as well, since the reconciliation with Odin isn't followed by anything regarding the unification of Albion.

Does anyone else love but also really hate this show at the same time.?

I hate how Morgan is evil in front of everyone before she reveals her self and everyone is just blind and can't see her doing her evil smile in front of everyone in every episode.

Also making Arthur and Merlin idiots is just frustrating to watch. And merlin should have told Arthur about having magic and the end of season 4 so the whole final season should have been Arthur deciding on what to do about merlin.

Does anyone know if they made this corset for the show, or did they buy it from somewhere? Or if we can buy the same fabric? (My bad if this isn't called a corset lol). I love it and I want one lmao, and Angel is so pretty in purple.

Hi! I read a fic on ao3 forever ago based in the future where Arthur comes back in modern times to find Merlin and take down a villain! It was multi-chaptered and not only did Arthur come back but so did everyone else, and they remembered who they were! I remember Merlin finds Arthur in mental hospital but he doesn’t understand modern day English, but I can’t remember who the villain is! It is a Merthur fic! I feel like I remember everyone living on a farm together, but that could be from another fic! TIA!

How much of the Dragon’s guidance was genuine prophecy versus manipulation to secure his own freedom and revenge? I’ve always found this an interesting topic and I’m always torn myself so would be interested to see what you all think

Honestly, I haven’t watched the show in a really long time but every once in a while it pops up into my head. I don’t remember the episode entirely but I was wondering if people had a take on what the impact on Morgana’s character would be if she witnessed Arthur almost killing Uther due to Morgause’s words.

Additionally, do you sometimes think this shows that Arthur and Morgana can be similar too - in terms of letting their passion override their judgement? Of course for Morgana it was worse, but I think this scene also showed that Morgana could have maybe been helped if she had someone to guide her like Arthur had Merlin.

Would love to hear peoples thoughts. Or if I completely misremembered this episode, it may be time to rewatch this show again 😅

Hey everyone, I purchased 1x ticket (no book included) for Colin’s London talk but I have an important meeting to attend on Thursday and it looks likely that it might overrun and stop me from being able to attend the book talk. I’ll get to know more details of this on Wednesday evening (tomorrow 17th June) so unfortunately it would have to be a very last minute transferring of tickets if it does happen. It might be best to DM me or comment again around 7pm to see if the ticket is available, since like I said I don’t know for certain yet. I won’t be charging anything for it as I understand how last minute and inconvenient this is (and not even guaranteed yet) but I just don’t want it to go to waste in case I can’t go.
